We started out with the premise that the urban tissue owes its formation to the effect of the feelings produced and to the individuals that give shape to them, thus causing the city to abound with feelings and meanings that are relevant for both society and the individual. As cities and their identities may be studied and interpreted from different viewpoints, we have used in this study poetic discourse that functions as a memory to the city and takes shape out of a set of historically established social practices. Our research is situated within the area of Applied Linguistics, an area of knowledge focused mainly in language that is increasingly expanding its investigation limits in an interdisciplinary way. Therefore, this study is based on a social and historical model of language, with language construed as a discourse practice (Bakhtin and Circle), and presents an interface with cultural studies (Hall, Canclini), taking into account the fact that culture builds up values and brings forth differences in respect of the conditions under which such values and differences are produced. In this sense, we have tried to ―listen‖ to what the poets say, by understanding and interpreting the meanings produced by their discourse, in order to identify the formation of the identities of the city that arise out of distinct points of view and diverse stylistic marks. Analysis of these poetic utterances lead to multifold cultural identities of the city, ranging from a naive and multicolored Natal to a city that builds itself on its characters and on to an insurgent, usurped Natal / Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar identidades culturais da cidade de Natal, constru?das a partir das representa??es contidas no discurso de poetas potiguares, no decorrer do s?culo XX. Para tal alcance, tomamos como premissa o fato de que o tecido urbano forma-se em decorr?ncia dos efeitos de sentidos produzidos e dos sujeitos que neles se constituem, o que torna a cidade carregada desses sentidos e plena de significa??o para as sociedades e para os pr?prios sujeitos. Tamb?m constatamos, neste percurso investigativo, que, como as cidades e suas identidades podem ser interpretadas sob olhares diversos, o discurso po?tico funciona como uma mem?ria sobre a cidade, reconstitu?da em meio a um conjunto de pr?ticas sociais determinadas historicamente. A pesquisa ora apresentada situa-se no ?mbito da Lingu?stica Aplicada, ?rea de conhecimento que tem como foco principal a linguagem e que, cada vez mais, amplia suas fronteiras de investiga??o, revelando seu car?ter interdisciplinar. Assim configurado o perfil deste estudo, tomamos como refer?ncia te?rica o modelo s?cio-hist?rico da linguagem, entendendo-a como pr?tica discursiva (Bakhtin e C?rculo). Apresenta reflexões sobre a interseção entre leitura, escrita e práticas artísticas na formação e constituição do espaço subjetivo fronteiriço entre essas práticas, na formação do aluno adolescente leitor. De abordagem qualitativa, apresenta- se como uma pesquisa narrativa e autobiográfica (ARFUCH, 2002). A professora parte de observações ao longo de alguns anos de experiências realizadas em uma escola pública agrícola de período integral de um município de São Paulo. Das colocações discursivas, “Amo ler” e “Odeio ler", identificam-se três tipos de leitores: o que ama, o que odeia ler e o indiferente; dois níveis de leitura: o narrativo ("Tempo Relativo") e o atemporal ("Tempo Absoluto"), que se interligam pela "Ponte de Einstein-Rosen", processo pelo qual se dá a diluição e reconstituição do eu no ato de ler. Outras elaborações teóricas, que possibilitam outras relações do aluno com o ato de ler, também foram desenvolvidas. O'Sullivan et al., (2015) e Calvino (2007) embasam o porquê da proposta da Literatura Clássica. E a partir das ideias de Barthes (1987) e Proust (2003), observou-se que, e como, os espaços físico e psicológico influenciam o “espaço psicológico” da leitura. No âmbito artístico, com Chekhov (2015), na representação teatral, e Vigotski ([1999?]), na valorização do social, as práticas artísticas tornaram o contexto de ler um ambiente criativo de liberdade, de releitura e recriação da literatura e de si, em que a construção dialógica polifônica (BAKHTIN, 2015) assumiu destaque e potência. A pesquisa identificou elementos cognitivos, psicológicos, sociais e concretos importantes no processo de formação de alunos leitores adolescentes, e constatou a importância e a efetivação da leitura coletiva de clássicos na escola pública em que foi experimentada, a sua não efetivação nas práticas individuais e a importância das atividades artísticas no processo de ler. Valorizou-se a experiência do discurso num espaço enunciativo criativo. / The present dissertation brings one teacher’s theoretical observations and elaborations from experiencing Classic Literature. It is a compilation of reflections on the co-interactions among practices of reading, writing and artistic tasks, as well on their influence on adolescent-student-reader’s formation and constitution. Findings, obtained from qualitative approach, are presented as a narrative and autobiographical research (ARFUCH, 2002). Observations were conducted, experiences gathered over several years at a public agricultural school in Sao Paulo city (Brazil). Based on statement positions: "I love to read" and "I hate read", three types of readers were identified: “loves reading”, “hates reading” and “indifferent”. Adjacently defined two levels of reading: the narrative -"Relative Time" and the timeless and continuous time -"Absolute Time", which are interconnected by an "Einstein- Rosen Bridge”. This is a process by which the "I" is diluted and reconstituted in the act of reading. Other theoretical elaborations that enabled other student relations with the act of reading were also developed. O'Sullivan et al. (2015) e Calvino (2007) substantiate the proposal of Classical Literature reasoning. Barthes (1987) and Proust (2003) ideas supported observations of physical and psychological spaces influence on the reading "psychological space". Chekhov (2015)’s theatrical performance along with Vygotsky ([1999?])’s social valorization transformed the context of reading in a creative environment of freedom, of re- reading and re-creation of the “literature” and “self”. In this context the polyphonic dialogic construction (BAKHTIN, 2015) got emphasis and power. This research project identified important cognitive, psychological, social and concrete elements in the process of training adolescent students. It was verified the importance and the effectiveness of the collective reading of classics in the public school where the observation was conducted. Classics individual reading failed to deliver effectiveness reinforcing the importance of artistic activities in the reading process. Discourse experience was valued in a creative enunciate space, making representation also a reinvention.

Konceptuální historie pojmu Antropocén / Conceptual History of the term Anthropocene

The word Anthropocene has been used in academia in many cases in the last decade. Geologists and stratigraphers believe that man's influence intervents so much with nature that they propose to call by the term a whole new geological era. This would have far-reaching consequences for (social) science in terms of interdisciplinarity. Due to the topicality of the theme, the diploma thesis aims to monitor the intersection of the term Anthropocene using the conceptual theory of Reinhart Koselleck, and thus find out whether and how the word spreads to public sphere. The first theoretical part presents the sources, maps the reflection of the term in the literature of social sciences and puts the work into a theoretical and methodological framework from the perspective of the history of concepts. It introduces Koselleck's theory of transition phases and explanes its application to the research field using modified criteria. The methodological character of the work is a comparative case study, heuristically grasped by content (textual) analysis of a media text. The second practical part observes texts from two selected databases (Czech and British) and presents the results in order to find out the meanings the contexts around the term Anthropocene. This diploma thesis titled "The Style and Language of Sport News and Journalism, Moderators, and Commentators in Czech Television (Focused on Petr Vichnar)" describes and analyses the speech of Petr Vichnar (of Czechoslovak Television fame) from the station's inception up to the present day. The thesis is divided into six main parts. The first part deals with general stylistic elements, the second focuses on the style and language in the contemporary speech of Petr Vichnar. Part three deals with the style and language of this author in the past whereas the fourth section shows the transformation of speech. The fifth and sixth parts deal with work in television and sports langure and a semiotic analysis respectively. Everyone changes in thein profession, and sports journalists are no exception either. Petr Vichnar began his career in sports journalism at the time when Wi-Fi networks, which allow rapid acquisition of information, were not in common usage. He began to moderate, though not yet using a teleprompter / auto-cue, and so he either had to keep everything in his head or use notes on paper. 大學生的社會焦慮與其相關因素之研究 / Social anxiety and its correlates among college students in Taiwan

本研究旨在瞭解台灣地區大學生社會焦慮的現況,並探討影響社會焦慮的相關因素;其次,探討社會焦慮對溝通行為造成之影響;最後,再探討影響溝通行為之相關因素。 本研究取樣對象為台灣地區公私立大學院校學生,有效樣本共計572人(男生274人,女生298人)。所採用的研究工具包括「互動焦慮量表」、「外表知覺量表」、「依附風格量表」、「目標導向量表」、「間接談話風格量表」和「溝通滿意度量表」六種。研究中所使用的統計方法包括皮爾森積差相關、單因子多變量變異數分析和典型相關。 本研究的主要結果如下: 一.社會焦慮的現況方面: 大學生的社會焦慮接近中等程度,大學生表示在一般社會互動情境中最容易感到害羞、不自在;其次,與權威人物互動時會感到相當程度的焦慮;而在陌生情境則會感到有點焦慮。 二.性別、依附風格、外表知覺及目標導向與社會焦慮之關係: (一)男生的陌生情境焦慮顯著高於女生;女生則比男生更容易在社會情境中感到緊張、不自在。 (二)逃避型與焦慮矛盾型的大學生顯著比安全型的大學生更容易感到社會焦慮。 (三)大學生外表知覺中的「性感魅力」、「外表自評」與社會焦慮之負相關最高。 (四)大學生目標導向中的「成長取向」、「証明取向」與社會焦慮中的「緊張彆扭」之負相關最高。  三.社會焦慮與間接談話風格、溝通滿意度之關係: (一)大學生的社會焦慮與間接談話風格之關係:「緊張彆扭」與「間接詮釋」之負相關最高;而「權威人物焦慮」、「陌生情境焦慮」與「間接表達」之間呈正相關。 (二)大學生的社會焦慮與溝通滿意度有顯著的負相關,其中「陌生情境焦慮」、「緊張彆扭」與「對談話整體性的滿意反應」之負相關最高。 四.性別、依附風格、外表知覺及目標導向與間接談話風格、溝通滿意度之關係: (一)性別在溝通行為上之差異:男生顯著地比女生更常使用間接談話風格;而女生的溝通滿意度顯著高於男生。 (二)依附風格在溝通行為上之差異:逃避型與焦慮矛盾型顯著地比安全型的大學生更常用間接的方式來表達;其溝通滿意度也顯著低於安全型的大學生。 (三)外表知覺與溝通行為之關係:「外表對人際之影響」、「外表對事業之影響」與間接談話風格呈顯著的正相關;「外表自評」、「性感魅力」、「重視外表」與「對談話整體性的滿意反應」之正相關最高。 (四)目標導向與溝通行為之關係:「証明取向」、「成長取向」與「間接詮釋」之正相關最高;「成長取向」、「証明取向」與「對談話整體性的滿意反應」、「自由互動」之正相關最高。  五.大學生的依附風格、外表知覺及目標導向與社會焦慮、間接談話風格、溝通滿意度之間共可抽出四組顯著的典型相關。 本研究根據上述結果加以討論,並提出若干建議以供未來研究及教育與輔導工作之參考。 / The first purpose of this study was to assess the degree of social anxiety of college students in Taiwan. The second purpose was to investigate how gender, attachment style, physical attractiveness and goal orientation approach related to social anxiety. The third purpose was to study how social anxiety influences style of language use and communication satisfaction. The Chinese versions of the Interaction and Social Anxiousness Scale (Leary, 1983), Attachment Scale (Mikulincer, 1990), Goal Orientation Inventory (Dykman, 1998), Physical Attractiveness Inventory (Wu & Liu, 1994), Conversational Indirectness Scale (Holtgraves, 1997), and Interpersonal Communication Satisfaction Inventory (Hecht, 1978) were administered to 572 college students from 13 universities in Taiwan. The results supported most hypotheses. College students’ social anxiety was of moderate degree, but significantly higher than the American samples reported in Leary’s study (1983). There was no difference between males and females on overall social anxiety; however, males were more anxious in meeting strangers and females felt more uncomfortable in social situation. In comparison with secure students, both avoidant and anxious-ambivalent students were significantly more socially anxious. The more students perceived themselves to be physically unattractive, the more socially anxious they felt. Both growth-seeking and validation-seeking goal orientation approaches were negatively correlated with social anxiety. The study also found that social anxiety was positively and significantly correlated with indirectness of conversation, but negatively and significantly correlated with interpersonal communication satisfaction.
