Neuromuscular Changes in Older Adults during the Lateral Step Task

Bejarano, Tatiana 12 November 2014 (has links)
Older adults may have trouble when performing activities of daily living due to decrease in physical strength and degradation of neuromotor and musculoskeletal function. Motor activation patterns during Lateral Step Down and Step Up from 4-inch and 8-inch step heights was assessed in younger (n=8, 24.4 years) and older adults (n=8, 58.9 years) using joint angle kinematics and electromyography of lower extremity muscles. Ground reaction forces were used to ascertain the loading, stabilization and unloading phases of the tasks. Older adults had an altered muscle activation sequence and significantly longer muscle bursts during loading for the tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius, vastus medialis, bicep femoris, gluteus medius and gluteus maximus muscles of the stationary leg. They also demonstrated a significantly larger swing time (579.1 ms vs. 444.8 ms) during the step down task for the moving leg. The novel data suggests presence of age-related differences in motor coordination during lateral stepping.

Návrh a realizace demonstračního modelu dvojítého kyvadla / Design and implementation of demonstration model "double inverted pendulum"

Slabý, Vít January 2018 (has links)
This thesis describes the process of rebuilding an experimental model of a single pendulum on a cart into the double pendulum on a cart. The control algorithm in MATLAB/Simulink environment for stabilization of the pendulum in the inverse position is designed. For this purpose, LQR state feedback control was implemented. Also method for swinging the pendulum into inverse position from stable state (swing-up) was designed. Feedforward method was utilised for swing-up control. In the thesis, functionality of these algorithms is shown.

Zpětný ventil / Check valve

Nehybová, Petra January 2019 (has links)
In this Master thesis are mentioned the most used constructions of non-return valves. Further consist of operation principles, fields of application, properties and diffi-culties connected to non-return valves. Motion plug of check valve in liquid is described based on CFD Software simulation.

Návrh a řízení modelu laboratorního dvojitého kyvadla / Design and control of laboratory double pendulum model

Kirchner, Tomáš January 2020 (has links)
Improvement of the current double inverted pendulum model on a cart as well as a new LQG control and swing-up realization are the main goal of this thesis. Movement of the cart is driven by DC motor and gear belt mechanism. At first the control algorithms were simulated in Simulink program and then also implemented into the real system with MF624 card.

Design prvků dětského hřiště / Design of childerns playground elements

Slováková, Eliška January 2009 (has links)
Main subject of this work is design of childrens playgroung elements. In this work there is also presented analysis of existent theme. I have designed a few variations, from which I chose the best solution. This solution I worked out in technical, aesthetic and ergonomical aspects. Designed elements match current requirements of safety standards.

Návrh vestavěného systému pro řízení výukového modelu rotačního kyvadla / Design of embedded system for control of educational model of rotary pendulum

Jajtner, Jan January 2015 (has links)
The basic aim of this work is to improve existing model of rotational inverted pendulum by adding new mechanical features, implement the control algorithm to dsPIC microcontroller and develop related control electronics thus extending the functionality of current model while making it more compact. The work contains derivation of dynamic equations both by means of analytical methods and multi-body formalism of SimMechanics. These are used to design a state controller stabilizing the pendulum in inverse position. In addition, parameters of the system are being estimated experimentally. Swing-up controller is developed to drive the pendulum to unstable position. Various state estimators are added to controller to improve the control process while comparing their overall performance. The last point is devoted to development of superior state-automaton designed to switch between different regulating modes including fail-detection algorithms providing smooth operation of the model.

Zpracování obrazu pro golfový simulátor / Image Processing for Golf Simulator

Heřman, Zdeněk January 2016 (has links)
This thesis describes design and practical realization of a golf simulator. It includes specifications of the hardware, that is a necessity for such simulator, and implementation of the detection of a golf swing and ball flight. The simulator has to fulfill several conditions that were stated at the beginning of the draft. One of the most important conditions was low purchase price, and therefore the simulator is based on common USB cameras Playstation Eye 3. The main goal was to create a user friendly simulator, that will be appropriate both for indoor and outdoor conditions. The final solution was compared with Full Swing simulator. The accuracy of our simulator was far better than the compared one at short game and putting through the use of scanning the ball right after the start of its flight. Accuracy at putting ranged: speed of the ball +/- 0.2 m/s, launch angle +/- 1 degree and flight angle +/- 0.8 degrees.

Optimal Portfolio Re-Balancing on Fixed Periods using a Cost/Risk Adaptation Model and Stochastic Optimization.

Ehn, Max, Jämte, Marcus January 2023 (has links)
In this thesis we investigate the problem of portfolio re-balancing for fixed periods using a cost/risk adaptation model and stochastic optimization. The cost/risk adaptation model takes theory of optimal liquidity costs and risk preference to build a universe in which we try to find better strategies than conventional ones. The results are focused on the comparison between the conventional execution strategies versus our developed model. We have found that our model outperforms the conventional methods for all assets that has been evaluated, and especially for investors whom value exposure to the markets higher.

The Frequency Monitor Network (FNET) Design and Situation Awareness Algorithm Development

Zuo, Jian 24 April 2008 (has links)
Wide Area Measurements (WAMs) have been widely used in the energy management system (EMS) of power system for monitoring, operation and control. In recent years, the advent of synchronized Phasor Measurements Unit (PMU) has added another dimension to the field of wide-area measurement. However, the high cost of the PMU, which includes the manufacture and deployment fee, is a hurdle to the wide use of the PMU in power systems. Unlike traditional PMUs, the frequency monitoring network (FNET) developed by the Virginia Tech Power IT lab is an Internet—based, GPS—synchronized, wide-area frequency monitoring network deployed at the distribution level, providing a low-cost and easily deployable WAMs solution. In this dissertation, the research work can be categorized into two parts: FNET Design and Situation Awareness Algorithm Development. / Ph. D.
