Main goal of the thesis is to analyze current state of testing of nangu.tv system and design system for automatized testing of this application and its components. Thesis builds up theoretical framework needed for better understanding of the given area, defines specifics of the application and its development. The requirements for the given automatized system are then specified together with selecting tools for its development. Following steps also propose changes in system of testing. Thesis presents steps which are to include designed system into the current process of testing in the company. Main purpose of this work is to lay foundation for future implementation of automated testing into the process of testing to Alnair a.s. company as to improve the level of testing process in the company.

Effectiveness of system testing, in specific phases such as design verification, requirements validation, test planning and generation, system integration and system testing are considered. Software as well as hardware test issues are reviewed. Metrics related to system testing are specified. The current system testing processes in a large Turkish military electronic systems manufacturer are reviewed, specific problems are identified and UML-based behavioral testing is proposed as an improved process. The current process and the proposed process are compared in terms of test coverage, test effectiveness and test effort metrics.

Skeletal muscle function and myosin heavy chain expression with Multiple Sclerosis

The purpose of this investigation was to examine the effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on the structural and functional characteristics of skeletal muscle. More specifically, we analyzed the myosin heavy chain (MHC) and fiber type distribution of the vastus lateralis, measured single fiber cross sectional area (CSA), and determined the isokinetic and isotonic strength of the knee extensor muscles. Six sedentary subjects with MS (age: 44 ± 2 yrs) and six sedentary gender-matched controls (age: 46 ± 4) were evaluated. EachMS subject was rated on the Kurtzke's Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and performed an 8-meter walk test to determine gait speed. Furthermore, the spasticity of the knee extensors was evaluated in each MS subject and weekly energy expenditure was estimated using the Yale Physical Activity Survey. Concentric and eccentric isokinetic strength of the right knee extensors (left in one MS subject) was determined at 60 and 180°/sec and a bilateral isotonic one-repetition maximum (1-RM) was evaluated in eachsubject. Muscle biopsies were taken from the right vastus lateralis (left in one MS subject) and individual fibers were dissected from these samples. Fibers were submitted to SDSPAGE with silver staining to determine MHC expression. Densitometry was performed on MHC hybrid fibers to determine the degree of co-expression. An additional section ofthe biopsy was stained for mATPase activity and further analyzed for single fiber CSA and fiber type. The mean EDSS score for the MS subjects was 5.4 ± 0.6 (range 3.5-6.5) and MS patients were slower than controls (p < 0.05) on the walk-test. AshworthSpasticity Scores ranged from 0 - 2. No differences were noted in weekly energy expenditure. The controls were 45 and 56% stronger than the MS group at isokinetic concentric velocities of 60 and 180°/sec (p < 0.05), respectively. The isotonic 1-RM andthe eccentric isokinetic contractions were not different between the two groups. There were no differences noted in any of the MHC isoforms or percentage of hybrid fibers. Furthermore, mATPase fiber type distribution and single fiber CSA were not different between the groups. There was a greater proportion of MHC IIx dominant MHC IIa/IIx fibers in the MS groups (p < 0.05). Multiple Sclerosis appears to result in large strengthdeficits, when compared to healthy individuals. Based on our findings, these strength differences cannot be explained by alterations in MHC/fiber type expression or decreases in fiber CSA. / School of Physical Education

Reúso de cenários BDD para minimizar o esforço de migração de testes para a plataforma android / Minimizing the migration effort for the existing Android BDD platform

O desenvolvimento de versões móveis de sistemas corporativos que já executam em plataformas Desktop e/ou Web tem se tornado comum. No entanto, o processo de migração tanto da lógica de programação quanto dos testes pode ser bastante complexo, embora muitas funcionalidades permaneçam as mesmas no novo ambiente. Este trabalho propõe o reúso de cenários de teste automatizados como uma alternativa para diminuir este esforço de migração. Para isso, propõe-se uma metodologia para o reúso de cenários de teste suportada por um framework de automação de testes. A metodologia propõe que cenários BDD sejam escritos uma única vez e executados em diferentes plataformas, como Desktop, Web, Móvel ou outra que venha a existir. Para dar suporte à metodologia proposta, o framework dbehave foi estendido para permitir a execução de cenários de teste em plataformas móveis. Uma segunda extensão no framework permite ainda que cenários específicos de uma plataforma possam ser escritos junto aos demais cenários mas executados apenas na plataforma de interesse, permitindo ao desenvolvedor uma maior autonomia na organização e manutenção dos cenários. A metodologia proposta foi utilizada em dois estudos de caso e se mostrou útil, uma vez que uma média de 81.2% dos cenários de aplicações reais foram reutilizados, havendo uma redução considerável no esforço de migração entre plataformas e na escrita de cenários. / The development of enterprise applications in multiple platforms (Desktop and/or Web and/or Mobile) has become a trend. However, the process of migrating both programming logic and software tests can be very complex, although many functionalities remain the same in the new environment. This work proposes the reuse of automated test scenarios as an alternative to reduce this migration effort. We propose a test methodology that is supported by a test automation framework. The methodology proposes the developer writes BDD scenarios only once and executes such scenarios on different platforms, such as Desktop, Web, Mobile or other that may exist. The dbehave framework was extended to support the execution of test scenarios in mobile platforms. Furthermore, the framework now allows the selection of which scenarios should be executed in which platforms, i.e., platform-specific scenarios can be written next to the other scenarios and run only on the platform of interest. This provides the developer greater autonomy in the organization and maintenance of the scenarios. The proposed methodology was used in two case studies and proved useful, since an average of 81.2% of the real application scenarios were reused, with a considerable reduction in the effort for cross-platform migration and scenario writing.

<p>Different security issues are a top subject around the world, especially since the terror threats seem to intensify. In the same time, the transport industry suffer from problems with smuggling and theft of valuable goods. One way to increase the security might be to have a verification system installed in commercial trucks, in order to assure that the driver is the proper one.</p><p>This thesis has two purposes. One is to find appropriate methods for driver verification and build a prototype of a verification system which can be used for testing and further development. The other is to study how truck drivers perceive such a system and how their conception goes along with the growing demand for higher security. The present work is the result of a cooperation between an engineer and a cognitive scientist. The thesis focuses on the transport industry and was performed for Volvo Technology Corporation (VTEC), Gothenburg, Sweden.</p><p>Eleven available verification methods were studied. To enable a well-based selection of methods to implement in the prototype, inquiries and interviews with truck drivers and haulage contractors were carried out to complement the theoretical study.</p><p>One regular and three biometric verification methods were chosen for the test; fingerprint verification, face recognition, voice recognition and PIN verification. These methods were put together to a prototype system that was implemented in a truck simulator. A graphical user interface was developed in order to make the system user friendly. The prototype system was tested by 18 truck drivers. They were thoroughly interviewed before and after the test in order to retrieve their background, expectations and opinions as well as their perceptions and experiences of the test.</p><p>Most of the test participants were positive to the prototype system. Even though they did not feel a need for it today they believed it to “be the future”. However, some participants felt uncomfortable with the system since they felt controlled by it. It became clear how important it is to have a system that respect the users’ privacy and to assure that the users are well informed about how the system is used. Some of the technology used for the verification system requires more development to fit in the automotive context, but it is considered to be possible to achieve a secure and robust system.</p>

Optimizing System Level Testing of Evolved Packet Gateway

The goal of this thesis project is to improve industrial system testing efficiency. The thesis is mainly focused on the field of telecommunication. Testing is one of the most important steps before selling a product to customers and testing is also an important component of after sale maintenance. The work load for testers can be decreased and more projects could be carried out in parallel, if the testing efficiency can be improved. The thesis project is carried out within the Ericsson Product Development Unit (PDU) Packet Core System Test section. The goal is to improve the system testing efficiency of the Evolved Packet Gateway, as system testing has gradually become one of the bottle necks for the whole product release. Ericsson wants to accelerate its pace in releasing new products to the market and releasing new software to their customers. An initial investigation was made to get a clear view about how the complete system testing procedure is currently carried out and then, an analysis was made based on this information. Ideas were collected for a proposed new implementation and finally a prototype for the most useful ideas was developed and evaluated to show how the system testing efficiency can be improved. Finally, these ideas were proved to be valuable for Ericsson PDU Packet Core System Test section and two of them have been adopted and are already under developing. / Målet med detta examensarbete är att förbättra effektiviteten inom industriell systemtestning.  Avhandlingen är främst inriktad på området för telekommunikation. Testning är ett av de viktigaste stegen innan försäljning av en produkt till kunder och testning är också en viktig komponent under underhållsfasen. Genom att förbättra effektiviteten i testerna kan arbetsbelastningen för testare minskas och flera projekt genomföras parallellt. Examensarbetet har utförts inom Ericssons produktutvecklingsenhet (PDU) Packet Core, avdelning System Test. Avhandlingens mål är att effektivisera systemtestning av Evolved Packet Gateway (EPG), eftersom systemtest gradvis blivit flaskhalsen för hela produktens release. Ericsson vill påskynda takten som de släpper nya produkter på marknaden och ny mjukvara till sina kunder. En första undersökning gjordes för att få en tydlig bild av hur systemtest utförs för närvarande och därefter, gjordes en analys baserat på denna information.  Idéer samlades in för att föreslå en ny implementering och slutligen utvecklades en prototyp av en specifik idé och den harutvärderats för att visa hur effektiviteten hos systemtest kan förbättras. Slutligen, var dessa idéer visade sig vara värdefullt för Ericsson PDU Packet Core System Test avsnitt och två av dem har antagits och håller redan på att utveckla.

Evaluating the Usability and Usefulness of an E-Learning Module for a Patient Clinical Information System at a Large Canadian Healthcare Organization

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has introduced e-learning for health professionals to expand their existing training, offer flexible web-based learning opportunities, and reduce training time and cost. This study is designed to evaluate the usability and usefulness of an e-learning module for a patient clinical information system scheduling application. A cost-effective framework for usability evaluation has been developed and conceptualized as part of this research. Low-Cost Rapid Usability Engineering (LCRUE), Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA), and Heuristic Evaluation (HE) criteria for web-based learning were adapted and combined with the Software Usability Measurement Inventory (SUMI) questionnaire. To evaluate the introduction of the e-learning application, usability was assessed in two groups of users: frontline users and informatics consultant users. The effectiveness of the LCRUE, CTA, and HE when combined with the SUMI was also investigated. Results showed that the frontline users are satisfied with the usability of the e-learning platform. Overall, the informatics consultant users are satisfied with the application, although they rated the application as poor in terms of efficiency and control. The results showed that many areas where usability was problematic are related to general interface usability (GIU), and instructional design and content, some of which might account for the poorly rated aspects of usability.
