For circuit switched voice networks dimensioning, the Erlang formulas are used. When it comes to newer data networks, a packet based dimensioning is required, and the complexity is significantly increased due to the diversity of applications and its multiple features. This work goes from the mathematical model (proposed by Erlang) applied to circuit switched voice networks to a mathematical model applicable to data services and packet based network dimensioning. User and application requirements are detailed as well as the correlation between them, which is key to understanding the dimensioning model. The mathematical model is applied (and a study case is presented) to an existing 3G technology (1xEVDO) in Brazil using practical input values. A computer program is generated to run prompt tests or different study cases. Then, the obtained results for the given case are measured in the field to validate the packet based network dimensioning model. Computer simulations are run to test the edge of the 1xEVDO technology with the aid of appropriate software containing queuing theory concepts. The experiments permit the correct visualization of the possible values that can be obtained and should be ignored on the dimensioning of a packet based network. Although ITU s 1xEVDO technology is used for the experiments, the dimensioning model is proposed to be applicable to any technology which needs packet based dimensioning and has data applications (i.e. other ITU 3G technologies such as UMTS and IEEE technologies such as wifi e wimax). The model is constructed, applied to study cases, tested on the field with practical values, promptly validated and pushed to the edge during simulations. / Pesquisa sobre os modelos de dimensionamento de rede de voz e de dados aplicados nas redes de telecomunica??es. Para a aplica??o de voz, as redes s?o dimensionadas a circuito, realiza-se um resgate do dimensionamento desse servi?o utilizando-se as f?rmulas de Erlang. Destaca-se, em seguida, que as novas redes de dados requerem um dimensionamento baseado a pacotes e a complexidade aumenta significativamente devido a diversidade das aplica??es e de suas m?ltiplas caracter?sticas. Evolui-se, do modelo matem?tico proposto por Erlang, aplic?vel ?s redes de voz baseado em circuito, at? um modelo matem?tico aplic?vel aos servi?os de dados a ser utilizado no dimensionamento das redes a pacotes. Detalham-se os requisitos dos usu?rios e das aplica??es, bem como a correla??o entre eles, que ? a chave para o entendimento do modelo de dimensionamento. Aplica-se o modelo matem?tico (gera-se um case) para a tecnologia 3G existente em opera??o no Brasil no momento, 1xEVDO com valores de entrada utiliz?veis na pr?tica. Para os extremos da tecnologia, 1xEVDO, s?o ensaiados com a utiliza??o de um simulador de um software aderente e alinhado a teoria das filas. Promovem-se ensaios que permitem a vis?o correta dos valores poss?veis de serem obtidos e que devem ser ignorados no dimensionamento de uma rede a pacotes. Destaca-se que, apesar de se haver utilizado a tecnologia 1xEVDO do ITU para ensaio, o modelo de dimensionamento ? proposto a ser aplicado em qualquer tecnologia que necessite de dimensionamento baseado em pacotes e com aplica??es de dados (demais da terceira gera??o do ITU como UMTS e do IEEE como wifi e wimax). The integration of the business processes with the outsourcing companies shall be considered as part of the Work Force Management (WFM) process that was transferred outside the operator s border. The outsourcing of work force should be used as main condition in reduction of these costs. This document presents a new model for implementation of the WFM associated with a Service level Agreement (SLA) with performance indicators and targets pre-established in a signed contract between the parties, and focused on the macro process for guarantee of quality in the enhanced Telecommunications Operation Map (eTOM). Stations with high SNR have worst performance than stations with low SNR. This condition is worse in PWLANs (Public Wireless Local Area Network) with users connecting with different bit rates. This paper proposes a policy that uses the SNR and the condition of propagation to control users Contention Window. With this policy it is possible to control the Bit Rate, which is not possible in the 802.11 networks. / Redes 802.11 apresentam uma anomalia quando existem esta??es com diferentes taxas conectadas a um mesmo ponto de acesso. Esta??es com boa SNR (Signal-to-Noise Rate) obt?m um desempenho pior que esta??es com pior SNR. Esta condi??o ? esperada de forma agravada em redes p?blicas com v?rios usu?rios se conectando a diferentes taxas. Neste trabalho ? proposta uma pol?tica atrav?s da varia??o da janela de conten??o, levando em considera??o a SNR e a condi??o de propaga??o do local. In the Weibull distribution there are two parameters to be modeled: shape factor and scale factor. The Rayleigh distribution is a particular case of the Weibull distribution where the shape factor has a firm value equals to two. This work has the objective to evaluate, through practical measurements, both parameters in the Weibull distribution at an indoor environment. The results will show the real value of the shape factor parameter and the scale factor as well, indicating that the Weibull distribution is more flexible to describe a fast flat fading channel at an indoor propagation. / A literatura descreve a propaga??o fast flat fading em sistemas m?veis como o modelo de distribui??o Rayleigh com diferentes desvios padr?es, o qual considera apenas um par?metro para descrever o canal de desvanecimento. It is in this context that the objective of this work is to develop a methodology to subsidize the telecommunications operators within the hard process of elaborating strategies to make feasible the IPTV. This work brings a pluralist methodology based in the concepts decrypted on the modern economy s innovation model to guide the development of a business analysis in which can be found the complementary study of the following features: socio-economic, technological and regulatory. There was elaborated a roadmap to logically sort the analysis sequence, making this work development easier to comprehend. After that the methodology proposed in this work is applied to build a descriptive analysis to stimulate the systemic think in the search to comprehend the acceptance level of IPTV. The socio-economic study traces the probable target audience of this service, as well the regions that could be the first places to offer it. On the technological study there are presented hybrid environments where the traditional cooper wires are combined with the optical-fiber at the access networks. Finally the regulatory study discuss the restrictions existed within the Brazilian legislation that actually make infeasible the offer of this service until these laws are reviewed. This works confirms that the adoption of a pluralist approach with socio-economic, technological and regulatory features can really offer a systemic comprehension of the market and the complementary relationship between its parts. This methodology can be a reliable source to support the process of elaborating new business models in Brazil. / O atual cen?rio brasileiro das telecomunica??es se apresenta bastante din?mico e competitivo, o que requer a ado??o de um novo modelo de neg?cios orientado a servi?os convergentes para recompor a receita das operadoras e reconquistar a fidelidade dos clientes. ? nesse contexto que o objetivo deste trabalho ? o de desenvolver uma metodologia que possa subsidiar as operadoras de telecomunica??es no dif?cil processo de elabora??o de estrat?gias que tornem vi?vel a oferta IPTV. In this dissertation a new method of handover to enable the proposal for load balancing traffic, serving as support for the planning and design of these networks. An example of this case is the IEEE802.16e adopted as a platform in this work. As developed a simulation platform that contains the requirements necessary to analyze and compare the current method of handover with the proposed method under different topologies. The results show a gain in the effective data rate of the cell 25% of the proposed method of handover for the current method of handover. As a result of this anomaly, mobile stations that should achieve high rates of transmission are impaired and don t get those rates. The consequence is the transmission capacity low utilization of the wireless system and the natural increasing of the time mobile stations stays on (and consuming energy); because of this, the increase in energy consumption is another effect of this anomaly. From this scenario, one way to deal with this anomaly is to have a better utilization of the wireless transmission medium. In this context, this work proposes a bench for studies of flow control in IEEE 802.11; this bench allows the management of bandwidth and the collection of traffic statistics from users sessions connected to the wireless network. As a resulting study from the bench using, there is a proposal to mitigate the anomaly through the user traffic management. The results indicate that the controlling the traffic from users who are in poor wireless transmission may produce a better utilization of transmission capacity of an IEEE 802.11 access point. / A concep??o do padr?o IEEE 802.11 permite que, em determinadas situa??es, a competi??o pelo acesso ao meio de transmiss?o resulte em uma anomalia. Como resultado dessa anomalia, esta??es m?veis que deveriam conseguir altas taxas de transmiss?o s?o prejudicadas e acabam por n?o conseguir essas taxas. A consequ?ncia ? o baixo aproveitamento da capacidade de transmiss?o do sistema sem fio e o natural aumento do tempo em que as esta??es m?veis permanecem ligadas e consumindo energia; por conta disso, o aumento no consumo de energia ? outro efeito dessa anomalia. A partir desse cen?rio, uma forma de combater essa anomalia ? a melhoria da utiliza??o do meio de transmiss?o sem fio. Nesse contexto, este trabalho apresenta uma proposta de bancada para estudos de controle de vaz?o em redes IEEE 802.11; essa bancada permite gerenciar a largura de banda e coletar dados estat?sticos relativos ao tr?fego das sess?es dos usu?rios conectados ? rede sem fio. Como estudo resultante da utiliza??o da bancada, h? uma proposta de mitiga??o da anomalia por meio da gest?o do tr?fego dos usu?rios. The technique is assessed on the physical layer of the reference model for open systems interconnection, OSI, and consists of slicing spectrally optical signal and to apply various attenuations and delays to each of the slices spectral considered. These slices are multiplexed and the resulting signal, which will be propagated by an optical network transparent, it will be ideally unintelligible to eavesdropper who try to steals it. At this point is possible to evaluate the quality of the encryption used by measuring the output of the encoder the bit error rate, BER, the encrypted signal, BERC. In principle, as highest BERC,it will be lowest the probability of an eavesdropper decode the signal. To get to your destination, the signal is received in the decoder circuit, which has the same physical structure of the circuit which encoded the original signal. The application of the factors of attenuation and delay in this distorted signal is adjusted for the reconstruction of optical signal generated by the transmitter. On the output of decoder, performs the measurement of BER of signal decoded, the BERD. Ideally, BERD must be the lowest possible. For technique evaluation, it was simulated, with the version 8.7 of the software VPITransmissionMaker, of company VPIPhotonics Inc, the operation of the devices of cryptography, propagation and the elements of decoded signal. All simulations considered that the spectral slicing was carried out by means of filters with ideal profile. The results indicates that the BERC may reach up to 42% and 24%, to encrypted signals with modulation on-off Keying non return to zero (NRZ-OOK) and differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) respectively, and that both are free of errors (BERD< 10-15 for the signal NRZ-OOK and BERD< 10-6 for DQPSK modulation) when decoded. / Este trabalho aborda uma t?cnica para criptografar o sinal ?ptico em redes ?pticas transparentes (Transparent Optical Network, TON), de modo a salvaguardar o sigilo e garantir a seguran?a das informa??es que s?o transmitidas atrav?s da Rede de Telecomunica??es. A t?cnica avaliada ? relativa ? camada f?sica do modelo de refer?ncia para interconex?o de sistemas abertos (open systems interconnection, OSI) e consiste em dividir espectralmente um sinal ?ptico e em aplicar diferentes atenua??es e atrasos a cada uma das fatias espectrais consideradas. In spite of these advantages, such networks often rely on batteries to operate, which may lead to a serious limitation on the networks lifetime. Bearing this in mind, in this dissertation, it is proposed and tested a hybrid polling approach that reduces the number of frames transmitted by the router node. Thus, the router node lifetime can be extended significantly and hence the network lifetime. The proposed technique becomes progressively more advantageous, when compared to classical polling technique, as the number of network nodes increases. The experimental results obtained using a network with four nodes indicate a network lifetime increase of about 32.14%. Importantly, the sensor network lifetime extension increases the economic viability of the technology and thus makes it more accessible to potential users. / Redes de Sensores Sem Fio s?o redes pr?prias para a coleta de dados em ambientes agressivos, de dif?cil acesso ou de alto custo de implanta??o de infraestrutura cabeada. Apesar destas vantagens, tais redes muitas vezes dependem de baterias para funcionar, o que pode acarretar uma s?ria limita??o em seus tempos de opera??o. Em fun??o disso, neste trabalho, desenvolveu-se uma estrat?gia para o prolongamento do tempo de vida de redes de sensores, mediante a aplica??o de uma estrat?gia de polling h?brida que permite reduzir a quantidade de quadros transmitidos pelo n? roteador. Desta forma, pode-se estender significativamente o tempo de vida do n? roteador e, consequentemente, a vida da rede. A t?cnica proposta torna-se progressivamente mais vantajosa, quando comparada a t?cnica de polling cl?ssico, conforme aumenta-se o n?mero de n?s da rede.
