Francouzský překlad nového občanského zákoníku. Translatologická analýza vybraných částí / French translation of the New Civil Code. Translation analysis of selected parts

Glabová, Miroslava January 2017 (has links)
The thesis focuses on translation analysis of the Czech Civil Code and its French translation created between 2013 and 2015, commissioned by the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic. The theoretical part outlines the problems of legal translation, characterizes legal language and legal texts, compares the evolution of Czech and French law, and describes the process of legal translation with the emphasis on equivalence of Czech and French legal concepts. The empirical part analyzes Sections 1209 of the New Civil Code and their translations into French. The key working method is translation analysis, carried out at several levels, against a background of linguistic and legal analysis. The core part of the thesis contains lexical analysis of Czech legal institutions and their translations into French. Lexical analysis is carried out by the method of conceptual analysis, which compares essential and accidental elements of Czech and French (and sometimes Swiss) legal institutions. Translation analysis aims to establish the method of translation that was used, and to determine if the method complies with the translation brief. The thesis also proposes a glossary based on analyzed Sections.

Pavel/Paul Eisner jako překladatel Franze Kafky / Pavel/Paul Eisner and His Translations of Kafka's Novels

Fazekašová, Anna January 2019 (has links)
The thesis provides an overview of the life and work of Pavel/Paul Eisner (1889-1958), a Czech translator of Jewish-German origin, focusing on his translation activities and "marginal" cultural identity, which served as the basis of his triple ghetto theory and "Prague interpretation" of the works of Franz Kafka. Eisner's translations of the novels The Castle and The Trial are examined using Gideon Toury's descriptive model of translation analysis, with the aim to determine their most prominent features and asses them in terms of their acceptability/adequacy in the target literature. The selected excerpts are subsequently compared with the source text to reconstruct the translator's method and find out in what way it was influenced by Eisner's theories on Kafka, stemming from his own life experience of a Prague German Jew. Key words: Pavel Eisner, Paul Eisner, Franz Kafka, triple ghetto, The Castle, The Trial, translation analysis, Gideon Toury

Joël Casséus: Crépuscules - komentovaný překlad textu / Translation and study of Crépuscules by Joël Casséus

Štencová, Linda January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis on Commented Translation of Joël Casséus' Crépuscules consists of translation of the first three chapters of the Quebec novel Crépuscules into the Czech language and subsequent expert commentary. This commentary focuses on the analysis of the novel genre that balances science fiction and modern myth, as well as the Christiane Nord analysis of the original text through which it explores external factors such as author, reader, intention, text function or its motive and intra-text factors such as theme and content, composition, nonverbal components, lexicon, syntax, and suprasegmental phenomena. Subsequently, in the commentary, we deal with translation problems, their solutions and applied translation procedures such as transposition, modification, compensation, generalization or specification.

Är det en kvasar eller en galax? : Att översätta en populärvetenskaplig text – informativa och expressiva aspekter / Is this a quasar or a galaxy? : Translation of popular science – informative and expressive aspects.

Kolesnikova, Olga January 2020 (has links)
This study consists of the translation of an excerpt from Ulf Danielsson’s book Mörkret vid tidens ände (Darkness at the end of time, my own translation) from Swedish to Russian, as well as a commentary, which provides analysis of applied translation strategies and their theoretical background. The theoretical framework of this study is comprised of Katharina Reiss’ theory of text types, along with the translation theories conceptualising the ways to avoid stylistic impoverishment of the translated expressive texts, namely Antoine Berman’s negative analytics and Jiří Levýs study of common translation tendencies. The translation analysis shows that the translation strategies most commonly used while working with the informative content of the source text, were explicitation and syntactic modifications. In the process of working with figurative language, the focus was either on transferring the emotional connotations and aesthetic character of the source text or on compensation for eventual losses. Moreover, the issue of intertextuality is discussed and analysis is provided of those solutions that allowed preservation of both informative and aesthetic functions, fulfilled by intertextual elements in the source text.

Analýza čínského překladu románu Tři muži ve člunu se zaměřením na převod humoru / An Analysis of Chinese translation of the novel Three Men in a Boat with a special focus on translating humor

Klusáčková, Alžběta January 2021 (has links)
This Master's thesis analyzes Three Men in a Boat, a famous work by a British author Jerome Klapka Jerome. It is a very popular humorous novel published in 1889 which rightly belongs to the classics of British humour and is still attracting new readers today. The novel has been translated into dozens of languages including Chinese. The thesis is based on comparing the original work to its modern Chinese translation produced by Wang Bi, the analysis is conducted in the direction from English to Chinese. For reference, it also uses the Czech translation by J. Novák. Methodologically, the thesis builds on structuralist terminology created by the Czech translation theorist Jiří Levý. For text analysis, it utilizes an influential theoretical concept invented by the German translation scholar Christiane Nord. It also takes into account specialized studies on humour literature and the problems of its translation. The thesis attempts to define British humour and characterize the author's devices to achieve comic effect. It thoroughly decribes the strategies chosen for translating some of the individual literary devices (e.g. hyperbole, irony, understatement or personification) into Chinese. The complex analysis presents specific examples of translating verbal, cultural and situational humour. It also...

Особенности перевода документальных фильмов (на материале: «The Hero», «Один день» и «ALMA – A Window into the Mysteries of the Universe») : магистерская диссертация / Peculiarities of the Documentary Translation: on the Base of The Hero, ‘Один день’, and ALMA – A Window into the Mysteries of the Universe

Галкова, Н. Е., Galkova, N. Y. January 2016 (has links)
В настоящей работе изучены и подготовлен перевод документальных фильмов, относящихся к военной тематике («The Hero»), к социально- политической («Один день») и к естественно-научной («ALMA – A Window into the Mysteries of the Universe»). Так, основная сложность выявлена в переводе на лексическом уровне, неразрывно связанным со стилистикой текста, а также и на уровне грамматики в силу различного строения русского и английского языков. / The master’s thesis is aimed at analyzing the specific features and characteristics of the translation of documentaries along with their titles from English into Russian and vice versa. The primary purpose of this study is to determine the main translation strategies which are used in the translation of non-fiction films. Data for this research were obtained from the real present-day film projects: «The Hero», (2013); «Один день», (2012); and «ALMA – A Window into the Mysteries of the Universe», (2014). The research consists of three theoretical chapters and three practical ones. The comparative and contrastive methods are the key approaches in the thesis, and the practical part of the study is prepared in accordance with them. Moreover, the research focuses on the subtitling translation as one of the most popular techniques. The thesis accent falls on the pragmatic adaptation as well. The results show that for popular science films that are devoted in this case to various themes ranging from the military service and soldiering to natural and scientific projects contain plenty of terms. Consequently, these documentaries demand from a translator special knowledge and deep comprehension. Thus, the most obvious conclusions of the research are the difficulty in the documentary translation on the lexical level that is closely connected with the stylistics of the film text and also on the level of the grammar that is attributed to the differences between the Russian and English languages.

K problematice překladu odborného textu / On Professional Text Translation

Pémová, Petra January 2015 (has links)
(in English): The work in this diploma contains the special syntactic structural features of Russian and Czech historical and political science texts. The author of the work takes as a theoretical starting point the principle that Russian scientific texts use more condensed forms of expression than Czech scientific texts, and uses evidence in this diploma to verify the truth of this principle. Quantitative research was carried out to test this theory via examination of Czech and Russian historical and political science texts in both original and translated forms. The original criteria for the choice of texts used was thematic closeness, time period of text creation and a minimum length of 5,000 words. This criteria was later expanded to 7,000 words for original texts and 9,000 words for original texts and their translations. In addition to this a translation analysis was carried out concerning condensation devices, expression dynamics and the implicitness and explicitness of the text. The contrastive analysis of applied condensation devices of Czech and Russian texts adheres to the classification framework of Czech linguist Milan Jelinek. The results of the author's analysis confirm that Russian political science and historical texts reach higher predicative tightness of expression and use more...

Specifika počítačem podporovaného překladu z němčiny do češtiny / CAT Tools in German - Czech Translation

Handšuhová, Jana January 2013 (has links)
Abstract This thesis handles special translation software, the mastery of which is becoming one of the basic requirements of successful translation work. The theoretical part describes the historical development, classification and main functions of translation memory systems. The thesis will further attempt to determine the criteria for the effective use of CAT tools and explore the text types and sorts for which the translation memory systems are most commonly used in the translation process. The functional view of the language-based text typology and the principles on which the translation memory systems work will also be handled. The practical part compares the result of a translation process (translation as a product) with and without CAT tools. The corpus of parallel texts (original translation) will be subjected to a translation analysis. This analysis concludes the levels which are affected by differences between translations made with and without CAT tools. The differences in the actual translation process with and without CAT tools which are not empirically verifiable will be analysed based on a survey conducted amongst translators. Then, the empirical part of the findings are summarized and systemized. The last chapter deals with the expected development in the translation market, the...
