Sistemática para o desenvolvimento de diretrizes no design de interfaces gráficas em tablet PCs voltadas a usuários típicos

Kulpa, Cínthia Costa January 2017 (has links)
The evolution of mobile technologies has significantly broadened the digital inclusion possibility for persons with general disabilities, by providing interaction with no space and time barrier constraints. Among these new technologies, the Tablet PCs are currently deemed the most widely implemented mobile technology in teaching institutions worldwide due to their wide capacity of interactivity, flexibility, mobility, browsing through Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), and accessibility to different user profiles However, most Low Vision (LV) users have faced difficulties to browse through VLEs by means of this technology and must resort to Assistive Technologies aimed at blind persons. Although the guidelines employed for the construction of those Graphic User Interfaces (GUIs) are founded on the precepts of W3C and Universal Design, this fact may harm their condition, generate frustration and, consequently, result in their digital exclusion. This way, the objective of this research is to improve the VLE usability conditions on Tablet PCs through a structured systematic to provide guidelines capable of instructing developers to create GUIs with LV users in mind. The methodology employed is based on the VLE Moodle as the scenery used for the case study, was carried out in three stages and included Web experts as well as LV users, leading to the development of the systematic. As an end result of its validation, there is a Guidelines Guide aimed at the construction of GUIs that are accessible to LV users on Tablet PCs. It has been concluded that this systematic allows developers to group up and conceive their own recommendations in the form of a guidelines guide that are capable of instructing them in incrementing interfaces specifically aimed at a defined typical users regardless of the established scenery of use. This way, it would reflect as an access guarantee and quality for those users, and allow for improvements to the project implementation process by developers.

A inserção dos tablets em escolas estaduais de Aracaju : desafios e limitações

Pinto, Maiara Fernanda Souza 16 March 2016 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Mobile technologies, especially tablets, are bringing a new concept of teaching called mobile learning which is related to spatial mobility and time at school. In Sergipe, in 2013, it implemented the Educational Tablets project aiming to provide teachers and students conditions of access to new technologies and the Internet to assist student learning. This research aimed to investigate the chemistry teachers so accept the inclusion of tablets in their teaching in schools of Aracaju State network. For this, they were carried interviews with two officials from the SEED / SE, better understand the project and later with seven chemistry teachers of schools where teachers and students received the tablet. The sample was analyzed from the "Textual Analysis Discourse - ATD". The analysis of these data and the comments "free" after the interviews conclude that chemistry teachers accept the inclusion of tablets, but in this SEED / SE project, there was no incorporation of the same in their teaching practices. In our emerging understanding, it is not enough to equip the school with technological resources without developing the teacher stimulation, training a good continuing education and its role in the project from its conception, so they do not feel compelled to simply use them.

Studium lisovacího procesu a vlastností tablet z anhydrátu laktosy. / A study of the compaction process and the properties of tablets from anhydrous lactose.

Foldyna, Edvard January 2014 (has links)
The thesis evaluates three types of anhydrous β-lactose combined with lubri- cants. The evaluation is made from the standpoint of compressibilty, tensile strength and ejection force, depending on the compression force used. Studied materials are Duralac H, SuperTab 21AN and Lactopress Anhydrous 250. Lubricants used in the concentration of 1% are magnesium stearate, glycerol-dibehenate and poloxamer 188. Compressibility is evaluated by the energy profile of compression. Total energy of compression increases with compression force used and de- pends on the type of anhydrous β-lactose and type of lubricant. Higher plasticity is shown by Duralac H and SuperTab 21AN. Ejection force is lowest in the case of Duralac H for all lubricants. Magnesium stearate appears to be the best lubricant for all types of anhydrous β-lactose. The effect of lubricants on the tensile strength of tablets depends on the compression force used. Highest values of disintegration time provides SuperTab 21AN, Duralac H with glycerol-dibehenate provides lowest values. 1

Studium lisovacího procesu a vlastností tablet s mikrokrystalickou celulosou a koloidním oxidem křemičitým. / A study of the compaction process and the properties of tablets containing microcrystalline cellulose and colloidal silicon dioxide

Louženská, Markéta January 2015 (has links)
The thesis deals with the comparison of compressibility and properties of tablets containing silicified microcrystalline cellulose and physical mixtures of microcrystalline cellulose with different types of colloidal silicon dioxide. The used excipients were silicified microcrystalline cellulose Prosolv® SMCC 90, microcrystalline cellulose Avicel® PH-102 and colloidal silicon dioxide Aerosil® 200 and 255. Tablets were compressed at three compression forces 2.5, 3 and 3.5 kN. The energy profile of compression, the tensile strength of tablets and the disintegration time of tablets were evaluated. The effect of 1 % magnesium stearate on these parameters under various mixing conditions and its homogenity in the tablet were evaluated. Total energy of compression increased with the growing compression force, it was the highest at Prosolv® SMCC 90. Plasticity decreased with compression force, mixtures of Avicel® PH-102 with both types of Aerosil showed its the highest values. These mixtures provided tablets with lower strength than Avicel® PH-102 and Prosolv® SMCC 90. Disintegration time of tablets increased with the growing compression force and it was longer in the case of tablets from Prosolv® SMCC 90 and Avicel® PH-102. The addition of magnesium stearate decreased tensile strength of tablets most in...

Title: Reading in the Digital Age - Tablet in the Reader 's Personal Information Environment Author: Mgr. Tomáš Bouda Abstract: In this dissertation thesis we observed the phenomenon of reading in the context of personal information environment in digital age. An analysis of the evolution of reading and its implication on reading habits has been done. Secondly, we introduced phenomenology approach to study reading phenomena. The goal of the qualitative research was to describe an experience of intensive tablet users while reading scientific literature in digital format. Interpretative phenomenological analyses and Positive and negative affect scale (PANAS) were used as research methods with six participants. Conceptual structure representing the phenomenon has been developed as an outcome. It contains a) broader context of personal information environment, b) reading, annotating and underlining of digital text and c) reading experience with a focus on somatosensory perception. Comparison with two similar research studies has been done. As a practical outcome, several weaknesses in a design of tablets and reading applications were identified.

ACTIVE READING ON TABLET TEXTBOOKS

Palilonis, Jennifer Ann 17 April 2015 (has links)
To study a text, learners often engage in active reading. Through active reading, learners build an analysis by annotating, outlining, summarizing, reorganizing and synthesizing information. These strategies serve a fundamental meta-cognitive function that allows content to leave strong memory traces and helps learners reflect, understand, and recall information. Textbooks, however, are becoming more complex as new technologies change how they are designed and delivered. Interactive, touch-screen tablets offer multi-touch interaction, annotation features, and multimedia content as a browse-able book. Yet, such tablet textbooks-in spite of their increasing availability in educational settings-have received little empirical scrutiny regarding how they support and engender active reading. To address this issue, this dissertation reports on a series of studies designed to further our understanding of active reading with tablet textbooks. An exploratory study first examined strategies learners enact when reading and annotating in the tablet environment. Findings indicate learners are often distracted by touch screen mechanics, struggle to effectively annotate information delivered in audiovisuals, and labor to cognitively make connections between annotations and the content/media source from which they originated. These results inspired SMART Note, a suite of novel multimedia annotation tools for tablet textbooks designed to support active reading by: minimizing interaction mechanics during active reading, providing robust annotation for multimedia, and improving built-in study tools. The system was iteratively developed through several rounds of usability and user experience evaluation. A comparative experiment found that SMART Note outperformed tablet annotation features on the market in terms of supporting learning experience, process, and outcomes. Together these studies served to extend the active reading framework for tablet textbooks to: (a) recognize the tension between active reading and mechanical interaction; (b) provide designs that facilitate cognitive connections between annotations and media formats; and (c) offer opportunities for personalization and meaningful reorganization of learning material.

A mechanistic reduced order model (ROM) of pharmaceutical tablet dissolution for design, optimization, and control of manufacturing processes

Shumaiya Ferdoush (18414153) 19 April 2024 (has links)
<p dir="ltr">The dissolution profile is one of the most important critical quality attributes (CQAs) for pharmaceutical solid oral dosage forms, as failure to meet the dissolution specification can impact bioavailability. Dissolution tests are essential to assess lot-to-lot product quality and guide the development of new formulations. Therefore, predictive dissolution reduced-order models (ROM) are crucial for the successful implementation of any real-time release testing (RTRT) strategy. Mechanistic and semi-mechanistic ROMs of tablet dissolution for realizing quality by control (QbC) and RTRT frameworks in continuous manufacturing are still scarce or nonexistent. Moreover, realizing the underlying coupled mechanics of wetting, swelling, disintegration, and dissolution is still an open question. This dissertation contributes to developing a mechanistic ROM of pharmaceutical tablet dissolution for the design, optimization, and control of manufacturing processes. We follow several steps towards the progression of the mechanistic model development. First, we develop a semi-mechanistic ROM to capture the relationship between critical process parameters (CPPs), critical material attributes (CMAs), and dissolution profiles. We demonstrate the versatility and the capability of the semi-mechanistic ROM to estimate changes in dissolution due to process disturbances in tablet porosity, lubrication conditions, and moisture content in the powder blend. Next, to understand the underlying coupled mechanism of wetting, swelling, disintegration, and dissolution, we use dynamic micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) with a high temporal resolution to visualize water penetration through the porous network of immediate-release tablets. We couple liquid penetration due to capillary pressure described by the Lucas-Washburn theory with the first-order swelling kinetics of the excipients to provide a physical interpretation of the experimental observations. From the mechanistic understanding of the water penetration kinetics using the micro-CT tests, we propose a two-stage mechanistic ROM, which is comprised of (i) a mechanistic dissolution model of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) that solves a population balance model (PBM) for a given API crystal size distribution and dissolution rate coefficient, and (ii) a tablet wetting function that estimates the rate at which the API is exposed to the buffer solution. These two sub-models are coupled by means of convolution in time to capture the start time of the API dissolution process as water uptake, swelling, and disintegration take place. Finally, we demonstrate the versatility and the capability of the mechanistic API dissolution model and the two-stage tablet dissolution ROM to represent the dissolution profile of different pharmaceutical formulations and its connection with CMAs, CPPs, and other CQAs, namely initial API crystal size distribution, porosity, composition, and dimensions of the tablet. In all of the cases considered in this work, the estimations of the model are in good agreement with experimental data. </p>
