Undersökningens syfte är att pröva om en mindre stat kan nyttja sig av vilseledning för att minska åverkan från en motståndare som nyttjar sig av Wardens systemteori. Undersökningen fokuserar främst på att vilseleda en motståndares målinhämtning innan ett angrepp. Undersökningen ger förslag på ett antal sätt att genomföra defensiv vilseledning, både innan ett angrepp och under påbörjat angrepp. För att underlätta för undersökningen tas fiktiva målval ut inom Sverige med stöd av Wardens litteratur och med stöd i viss annan litteratur. En mindre jämförelse mot befintliga sårbarhetsanalyser genomförs. Undersökningen har visat att alla presenterade målval utom ett har viss användning av den defensiva vilseledningen som skildras i uppsatsen. Vidare har undersökningen presenterat en motståndares troliga målval mot Sverige om motståndaren följer Wardens teori. Uppsatsen har också visat på ett antal sårbarheter i Sverige om en motståndare nyttjar Wardens teori. / The purpose of the survey is to test whether a smaller state can use deception to reduce the impact of an opponent who uses Wardens theory regarding the enemy as a system. The survey focuses on an opponent's target acquisition before an attack and the deception that might complicate the target acquisition. The survey presents a number of ways to implement defensive deception, both before and during an attack. To aid the survey a fictitious target acquisition within Sweden has been produced with the support of Wardens literature and with the support of other sources. A comparison is made between the identified vulnerabilities and existing vulnerability reports. The survey has shown that all the presented fictitious targets except one has some use of the defensive deception as presented. Furthermore the survey has presented credible targets in Sweden that an opponent might choose to attack if the opponent makes use of Wardens theory. The survey has shown several vulnerabilities in Sweden if the opponents makes use of Wardens theory.

Aircraft position estimation using lenticular sheet generated optical patterns

Lenticular sheets can be used with machine vision to determine relative position between two objects. If a lenticular sheet of a given period is mounted above periodically spaced lines sharing the same period, lines will appear on the lenticular sheet which translate along the lenticular sheet in a direction perpendicular to observer motion. This behavior is modeled theoretically and tested experimentally, and found to be linear within a finite range. By arranging two lenticular sheets, configured as described above, in a mutually orthogonal configuration on a flat surface, the lines that appear on the lenticular sheets can be used by a camera to estimate its position relative to the lenticular sheets. Two such devices were constructed to test the principle, and machine vision code was developed to ascertain position using these devices. Machine vision code was found to reliably provide angular position of a camera within $1.4^circ$ through experimental testing. The optical patterns that appear on the lenticular sheet surfaces are monitored using a digital camera. The resulting images are analyzed using visual C++ in conjunction with the OpenCV library and the appropriate camera device drivers. The system is able to estimate height, yaw, and position relative to the optical target in real time and without the need for a prior reference.

Investigating The Effects Of Simulation On Transfer In A High Risk Confrontational Setting

Individuals, who work in high risk confrontational (HRC) settings in which a conflict exists, experience high-stress levels in their jobs and are known to have a high level of decreased performance and decreased survival. Individuals being trained to handle such conflicts should be trained effectively to accomplish the ultimate objective, staying alive. The problem is the lack of research and program evaluations examining effectiveness of training simulations in the transfer of skills under HRC settings. The purpose of my study was to test if the skill of target acquisition could be effectively transferred to a real environment (RE) after exposure within a virtual environment (VE). Ackerman's (1988) Theory of Ability Determinants of Skill Acquisition supports the progression participants advance through in the transfer of learning. A randomized posttest only comparison group design was used. The population involved 24 novice paintball players. Participants were randomly assigned to a simulation treatment or a non-simulation comparison application. Two days after receiving the intervention, participants engaged in live practice sessions (game 1 and game 2) in a RE where target acquisition skills were measured. Evidence suggests significant differences were found between novice players in the type of intervention received and the number of targets acquired in a RE, whereas, no significant change in scores was found between practice sessions, and no interaction was found between intervention received and practice. Recommendations for replicating studies include: (a) focusing on the manipulation of specific variables within the training context, (b) using different live environments, (c) examining factors that influence teaming and strategy formation, and (d) combining experts and novice players for a closer representation of a population in an HRC setting.
