Despite all importance, the small-scale fisheries lives in a condition of limited data. To generate scientific knowledge of these fisheries, the researchers have used increasingly, the local ecological knowledge. The great advantage in using the LEC for evaluation of small-scale fishing is able to access past information not reported in the literature and require considerable investment in time and financial resources to be sampled. In this dissertation sought to increase information available on small-scale fishing in Rio Grande do Norte. In the first article we use information of the fishers to estimate the CPUE of current catches of 10 and 20 years ago and identify the species most captured in the same period and compare this information with landing records and data obtained from expert fishers. In the second article we analyze the information of the boats used in artisanal fisheries to check for a fleet operating on the same species exploited or are different fleets operating on different species. In the first article as stated by fishers, the results do not suggest any change in CPUE between 2003 and 2013. In addition to being good informants to establish ranks of species abundance for the target species, fishers also provided accurate estimates for the CPUE of the best catches in the current period (2013).The approach used in this study showed, once again, that fishers have an important and sometimes unique information. However, when this knowledge was compared with formal data, showed major differences. This heterogeneity of informants and data sources (data of fishermen and official data) may be the single best source of information for fishing in areas where there lack of scientific data and abundance of skilled fishers. In the second article, the results indicate that there are two different fleet acting on the same species. The division between small and large boats showed that small boats are the best option for small-scale fishers. Since there is no difference in the amount of captured species and obtained income and expenses of the vessels these categories are much smaller, generating more profits than the big boats.

The medicinal plants constitute a rich source of biologically active compounds used for the treatment of many psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety disorders and depression. Generalized anxiety disorder has increased significantly, being the second most prevalent disorder in care facilities to public health. Depression is considered a chronic and common psychiatric disorder that affects 350 million people of all ages around the world. In this context, the pharmacological intervention conduits have been employed, effective, although leave to be desired when observed adverse effects. The genus Passiflora is commonly commercially known by its fruit, but is also widely used in traditional Brazilian medicine. Passiflora edulis displays considerable morphological variability. This plant produces two types of fruit: Purple (Passiflora edulis Sims fo. edulis) and yellow (Passiflora edulis fo. flavicarpa Degener). This study investigated the central effects of aqueous extract of the leaves of the two varieties of the species Passiflora edulis in tests used to assess behavior related to anxiety and depression, as well as investigating the potential effect of the antidepressant-like fractions of edulis fo. edulis and neuropharmacological mechanisms responsible for this action. To conduct this study used male Swiss mice (2 months old, weighing 30-35 g). The animals received the aqueous extract of the leaves of the two species of Passiflora: edulis fo. edulis (100, 300, 1000 mg / kg) and fractions ethyl acetate, butanol and aqueous waste (25, 50, 75, 100 mg / kg) and edulis fo. flavicarpa (30, 100, 300, 1000 mg / kg) or saline by gavage 60 minutes prior to the maze tests at high cross the open field test, test forced swim test and sedation induced by thiopental. To investigate the mechanism of action of the activity of antidepressant type of fractions the following drugs were used: PCPA (inhibitor of 5-HT synthesis) AMPT (inhibitor of catecholamine synthesis), DSP-4 (noradrenergic neurotoxin) and Sulpiride (antagonist selective dopamine D2 receptor). They were used as a standard positive control, fluoxetine and nortriptyline. The results of the phytochemical profile show very different characteristics to the aqueous extract of the varieties of Passiflora edulis "flavicarpa" and "edulis". The aqueous extracts of both varieties of Passiflora edulis share anxiolytic activity type (edulis fo. edulis 300 mg/kg; edulis fo. flavicarpa 300 and 1000 mg/kg) and antidepressant (edulis fo. edulis 300 mg/kg; edulis fo flavicarpa 1000 mg/kg), while the effect hipolocomotor/sedative was only seen for edulis fo. edulis (1000 mg/kg). Both fractions ethyl acetate, butanol aqueous extract edulis fo. edulis showed activity type antidepressant at a dose of 50 mg/kg in the forced swim test. The data suggest that the effect of antidepressant-like fractions edulis fo. edulis involves catecholaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, particularly dopaminergic, there is seen that pre-treatment DSP-4 is not affected antidepressant action of fractions as was dependent activation of dopamine D2 receptors.

No segundo estudo, foram determinadas as propriedades energ?ticas do sistema Integrina ?V?3-Cilengitide, cuja estrutura cristalogr?fica apresenta c?tions Mn+2. / This thesis deals with two researches with different conceptual nature in the field of molecular modeling based on similar theoretical principles of quantum physics and computational chemistry. In the first study the stabilities of ER?-OHT (Receptor ? Estrogen co-crystalyzed with Hydroxytamoxifen), ER?-RAL (?-Estrogen Receptor co-crystalyzed with Raloxifene) and integrin ?v?3 co-crystalyzed with cilengitide systems were determined in terms of energy from the Molecular Fractionation Technique Caps Conjugates (MFCC), and the scope of the Density Functional Theory (DFT) following GGA-PBE-Grimme scheme for calculating the interaction energy of the systems studied. In the first study, it was possible to predict the relevance of individual amino acids Glu, Asp, Arg, Lys in the system with Tamoxifen and Glu, Asp and Lys in Raloxifene system. For this to be possible, the attraction and repulsion forces of the residues that comprise the systems were calculated. Each of these residues had an energy of interaction that varied depending on the chemical nature of the side chain, the microsolvation environment that surrounds and intermolecular contacts establishing. The pioneer study of conformational stability in terms of energy of free amino acid region will encourage research focusing on the development and synthesis of new antagonists used in the treatment of several common diseases in the general population. In the second study, we determined the energetic properties of Integrin ?V?3-cilengitide system, whose crystallographic structure has Mn+2 cations. It was noted the importance of amino acids Ser, Asp, Leu, Arg, Lys, Ala and Pro in integrin interaction with the RGD fragment (R: arginine; G: glycine; D: aspartic acid) of cilengitide. The importance of integrin with the RGD fragment in the adhesion mechanism of various cells involved in cancers and in embryo implantation allows the development of new therapies impacting on survival of patients with various forms of neoplasms and in human reproduction.
