Foster care : the experiences of birth children

Van der Riet, Karin Ernestine 06 1900 (has links)
Family foster care is the main resource of alternative care for children in South Africa. The researcher is of the opinion, and is supported in this by literature, that very little is known about the dynamics within the foster family and its effects on the different family members. Of special interest to the researcher is to understand what happens in the lives of birth children of foster parents when they have to share their “world” with a foster child. Up till now little attention has been given to the children who are directly involved in the fostering process. The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the experiences of birth children in the foster care system within the context of the family systems theory. The qualitative method implemented in the research made it possible to come to an understanding of the effects of fostering on these children and to give a true description to their voices. / Social Work / M.A. (Social Work)

La relation au monde dans Les Thibault de Roger Martin du Gard / Life and literature in Les Thibault by Roger Martin du Gard

Huang, Chunliu 06 April 2012 (has links)
In the eight novels Les Thibault by Roger Martin du Gard (published between 1922 to 1940), the author addresses the reader and describes the world in which the former lives. The objective of this thesis is to examine Martin du Gard’s discourse with respect to some aspects of the multilateral relationships between society, author and oeuvre. R.M.G’s novels informed society of his time and were themselves shaped by society. The author moulded by society then constructs a fictional world. The relationships in Les Thibault are autobiographical in nature whether familial, gender, social or religious and these constitute the principal means of understanding the oeuvre and the author’s own life.To evaluate the reception of Roger Martin du Gard’s work among the Chinese public, the final part of this thesis analyses the two translations of Les Thibault, published in China in the 1980s. Comparison with a Chinese trilogy, Torrent (Family – Spring – Autumn, 1932-1940), by Ba Jin (Pa Kin), although very different but which also considers family and social relationships, allows consideration of how Roger Martin du Gard’s message crosses frontiers and reflects universal concerns, those of humanity itself.

In order to accomplish the main objectives, I take as reference theoretical concepts from different areas of knowledge, emphasizing on the genres of speech, intertextuality and polyphony, in accordance with Bakhtin and his Circle, besides focusing on the notions of stereotype and gender as a cultural category linked to the feminist criticism critique. This work is divided into two chapters. In the first one I present the theoretical framework, a brief history of fairy tales and comments about their film adaptations, from the panorama of the movie production of the nine Disney Princesses. In the second chapter, I highlight the methodology employed in the linguistic analysis and imagery from the movie "The Princess and the Frog" on the basis of what I call contextual nucleus which include the following elements: 1) time / space / family constitution, 2) economy / true love / happy ending, 3) scenario / songs / colors and traces 4) fantastic / wonderful / mysticism. I also suggest at this stage a study of Tyana´s physical and behavioral characteristics in comparison with the tale "The Frog Prince by the Grimm Brothers and, three of the "Disney Princesses": Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora. I believe that animation films and adaptations of traditional fairy tales that are directed to children, broadcast standards, values and meanings bring a great influence on the formation and construction of gender identities. Throughout the approach to cinematic language (verbal and imagery), it is possible to unveil the ideology that pervades this midia due to social interchange whereas it is an intertextual discoursive space / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo investigar de que modo ocorre a construção e a representação da personagem feminina no filme de animação A princesa e o sapo (2009), dos Estúdios Disney.

Spettacolarità e scenografia a Milano tra età teresiana e giuseppina

BARBIERI, FRANCESCA 13 March 2012 (has links)
In the second half of the 18th century Milan became a very influent centre for the art of stage designing. This PhD thesis seeks to investigate the developments of the visual aspects of theatricality in a crucial period (1765-1792) for Milan. This study is based on iconographic sources, namely engravings and drawings. The analysis focuses on public and political events (wedding festivals, state funerals and royal entries) and, at the same time, on theatre. The research considers the development of stage design at the Regio Ducal Teatro and the Teatro alla Scala. It concentrates on the works of the most important scene-painters of the period: the brothers Fabrizio and Bernardino Galliari and Pietro Gonzaga. As a result, the study provides an analysis of the several components of visual representation and their features.

The church service as the centre of a missional congregation developing a second church service as a building block for a future social form of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg, Germany

Beck, Willi, M.Th. 31 January 2008 (has links)
Summary in German and English / Zusammenfassung Im schleichenden Rückgang gemeindlichen Lebens wird eine anhaltende Inkulturationskrise sichtbar. Summary English The gradual deterioration of congregational life is unveiling an ongoing inculturation crisis. With its milieu constricting presence, the church is currently not able to enter into the multifaceted social environments in Germany. This paper represents a contribution to the discussion concerning our joint search of the church's future social form in our post-modern society. Departing from the major significance of the church service as the centre of the congregation, it is argued that future development of the church can only take place from within the church service. This is especially true if it is intended as congregational development by the brothers and sisters, and not as programme or event. The boom of second church services we have been observing since the beginning of the 1990s could become a missionary-strategic starting point in order to reach a sociologically diversified population. Plural church service concepts as a basic approach to church planting become the linchpin of a future, necessarily multioptional and culturally relevant social form of church. In a church with manifold church service concepts, the question of Christian unity is being asked anew and discussed as a plural form of expression.

Renato Marin Crespo 04 July 2013 (has links)
