Síla fikce: zpracování enviromentální tematiky v americké kinematografii / The Power of Fiction: enviromental issues in American cinema

Holá, Kateřina January 2019 (has links)
This master thesis deals with one of the current trends in cinema - the so-called climate change film. Film as a popular medium is able to influence public debate and this paper's main objective is to explain how environmental issues can be portrayed in film and how such films shape the climate change debate. In the first, theoretical part of this thesis, the aim is to briefly introduce the history and context of climate change debate from the 1970s to the present day based on sources primarily from interdisciplinary cultural and environmental studies. It also explains how environmental problems started to arise in different art spheres, above all in American cinema from 1995 to the present. The second part analyzes four American feature films of different genres: The Day After Tomorrow (2004) directed by Roland Emmerich's, The Road (2009) directed by John Hillcoat, Before the Flood (2016) directed by Fisher Stevens and Darren Aronofsky's mother! (2017). The final chapter summarizes the findings, explains the currently prevalent apocalyptic narrative and discusses why such approach is not effective and how filmmakers need to transform climate change stories into positive narratives that inspire change and hope.

Teknikämnet i grundskolan : Idag och imorgon

Svärdh, Joachim January 2009 (has links)

/
This work has two different parts that has been treated in different ways. Initially, the present situation for the subject Technology in primary and lower secondary school has been monitored in a survey. Among the results, a correlation between authorized Technology teachers and the teachers that chose to teach Technology and the interest for Technology was found. The authorized Technology teachers are primarily found in the major cities. Among the majority of teachers that teach Technology, the Natural Science teachers, only ten percents choose to teach Technology them self. In other subjects, there is a curriculum, but the Technology education is carried out without proper guidelines or guarantees for a minimum time of education.

The second part of this work is looking into a possible future for the subject Technology in primary and lower secondary school. Four persons gave their personal views on what one should have in mind when planning the Technology education of the future. Some common positions are that Technology is important in order to understand our present and our future. Technology is about solving problems and should help to create an interest in technology and natural science. Last but not least the subject Technology is not prioritized.

Hong Kong Nostalgia Cinema: Loss, Memory, and Identity Crisis

Kim, Jeanna P. 01 January 2011 (has links)
This paper observes Hong Kong nostalgia cinema. After the Sino-British Joint Declaration was signed, a tendency of anxiety loomed among the society of Hong Kong. People started to feel nostalgic toward their past and concerned their uncertain future. From the late 80s to mid 90s, nostalgia films were produced as a trend, reflecting Hong Kong's identity crisis of its ambiguous entity and fear of reuniting with its Communist motherland. Based on Hong Kong's historical and cultural backgrounds, my thesis examines the nature of nostalgia through Stanley Kwan's Rouge (1988) and the impact of nostalgia by contrasting John Woo's A Better Tomorrow (1986) and Wong Kar-wai's Days of Being Wild (1990).

Marrakech, une ville à la recherche d'une politique de gestion / Marrakech, a city in search of a management policy

Benchakroun, Mohamed 06 December 2011 (has links)
Refusing the image most oftenly negative of certain parts of urban agglemerations, we are convinced to have found viable solutions for the new town of Tamansourte. This research shows that it is possible to do town planing in a whole new way, by proposing new reforms.Based on references such as feedback and narratives from the actors of the urban layout, this research proposes directions for reflection concerning the construction of a new social transformation project for a new town planning policy. The solution for a city like Marrakesh most certainly resides in a compromise between several urban forms, taking into account historical, morphological and cultural specificites and serving eventually as a basis for city policies. As far the new town of Tamansourte is concerned, the balance sheet is in the negative, easily understandable by a simple visit of the premises where several obvious factors demonstrate the scarcity of the population toghether with a feeble commercial activity. An « urban re-qualification » study is to be done urgently for this new town to be commercially, economically dynamised and permitting fruitful exchanges between all the actors of the township-thus founding a new era of vitality for this new town.
