Antibiotic Allergy Labelling- may it cause Unnecessary Altered Antibiotic TreatmentGerdås, Sigrid January 2020 (has links)
IntroductionApproximately 5-10% of the general population report an antibiotic allergy. It has been reported that labeling of medical records with antibiotic hypersensitivity are often incorrect. As a result, antibiotic treatment choice will be increasingly difficult resulting in prolonged hospital visit, increased use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, increased frequency of side effects and the development of antibiotic resistance.AimThe primary aim was to investigate to what extent medical records were labelled with antibiotic allergy and whether these labels were adequately documented. The secondary aim was to investigate the difference in the impact of the label on the doctors’ choice of antibiotics depending on whether the doctor worked at a clinic of infectious diseases or not.MethodsA retrospective cohort study based on medical records labeled with antibiotic allergy in patients admitted to the Clinic of Infectious Diseases and the Emergency Ward at the Clinic of Medicine between 1st of January to 30th of June 2018.ResultsOf the total 1720 patients there were 132 (7,7%) patients marked with antibiotic allergy. Of these, only 21 patients (15.8%) were correctly labelled. There was no significant difference in the impact of the label on the choice of prescription between the two wards.ConclusionA substantial number of medical journals have a label for antibiotic allergy and the quality of the label is often poor with only 21 (15.8%) correct documented labels. We argue the need of education on antibiotic allergy and how to label and medical records.

Registrace povrchů a přenos topologie v geometrické morfometrii / Surface registrations for topology transfer in geometric morphometryDupej, Ján January 2020 (has links)
Geometric morphometry serves biologists and anthropologists to rigorously and quantitatively describe shapes. These representations can be treated as a statistical sample, allowing the researchers to study its variability within groups and correlate it to other features. Geometric morphometry uses landmarks as the proxy for shape, with consistent semantics in each specimen. General triangle meshes do not have this property, and as such, semantically consistent remeshes must be created artificially. This thesis deals with the design of an algorithm that consistently resamples a set of surface models for the purpose of statistical analysis. Coherent point drift was employed to perform nonrigid registration, whose result is then used to generate a semantically consistent remeshes. This approach was successfully applied in a number of studies. As CPD is compute-intensive, we propose methods of accelerating both its initialization and processing phases. Also, an extension was introduced, that can map the deviation of the surfaces from perfect bilateral symmetry and analyze it in a sample, which is significant, among others, for quantification of pathologies. Manual trimming of the surfaces and merging datasets results in outlier regions in the individual surfaces and potentially large differences in their vertex...

Strategies for Preventing Financial Fraud in Church Organizations in GhanaRockson, Albert 01 January 2019 (has links)
Financial fraud in church organizations is increasing rapidly, which can affect the reputation, donation appeal, future funding, and ability of church organizations to meet their planned organizational goals. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies for preventing financial fraud in church organizations. The conceptual framework for the study was Cressey’s fraud triangle theory. Twenty participants who utilize strategies for preventing financial fraud in their organizations were purposively selected from 5 church organizations in Ghana. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and analysis of organizational financial policy documents. Interview data were transcribed, coded, and analyzed with Saldaña’s coding guidelines. Data analysis followed recommendations from Yin, including examining the data, grouping data into categories, regrouping data in themes, interpreting the data, and producing empirically based findings that answered the central research question of the study. Three significant themes emerged from the data analysis: effective administration, good stewardship and accountability, and caliber of employees. Implementation of the findings may lead to positive social change by enhancing the donation appeal of church organizations, improving their finances, and enabling them to optimize their operations to benefit individuals, families, communities, and society.

Inkluderandet av hållbarhetsarbete inom byggprojekt och dess relation till projektframgång : En kvalitativ studie om relationen mellan hållbarhetsarbete och projektEriksson, Elin, Jähle, Josefine January 2021 (has links)
Title: The inclusion of sustainability in construction projects and its relation to project success: a qualitative study of the relationship between sustainability and projects. Level: Student thesis, final assignment for Bachelor Degree in Business Administration Author: Elin Eriksson and Josefine Jähle Supervisor: Emilia Kvarnström Date: 2021 - June Aim: Previous research draws attention to the negative connection between integrating sustainability into projects with a focus on long-term sustainability goals as opposed to short-term traditional project goals. Therefore, researchers suggest that more empirical studies should be conducted in the subject. The purpose of the study is to create an increased understanding of the relationship between sustainability and projects through the research questions “How is sustainability included in projects?” and “What is the perceived relationship between sustainability and project success?”. Method: To achieve the purpose of the study, a qualitative method has been used in the form of six semi-structured interviews with project managers and people with different sustainability positions within Swedish construction companies. The collected data has been transcribed and coded into recurring themes which were analyzed through a content analysis. Result & Conclusions: The study shows that the customer for the projects can act as an opening or barrier for how sustainability is included within projects. The results also show that the entire supply chain can influence the inclusion of sustainability. According to this study, the relationship between sustainability work and project success is difficult to determine, which is explained by the fact that sustainability is actually a part of project success. Thus, the study has resulted in the model “The Sustainable Iron Triangle”. Contribution of the thesis: This study has contributed to an increased theoretical understanding of the relationship between sustainability and projects, but also provides an empirical basis on whether sustainability is included in projects and its relation to project success. This study has developed the model The Iron Triangle into The Sustainable Iron Triangle which better reflects today's assessment of project success. Suggestions for future research: Future studies are recommended to carry out similar surveys regarding construction companies outside Sweden or to examine the customer's perceptions regarding the inclusion of sustainability in projects. What also would be interesting is to test The Sustainable Iron Triangle in an industry other than the construction industry to examine the relevance of the model in another context. Key words: Project, Sustainability, Project Management, Triple Bottom Line, Project Success, The Iron Triangle.

Links Between Cultural Heritage Tourism and Overall Sense of Tourist Well-BeingJew, Jeongyong 24 June 2015 (has links)
Cultural heritage tourism is still the growing segment of tourism industry. Moreover, many tourists prefer exploring something new, cultural heritage tourism (CHT) has become one of the major "new" segments of tourism demand. Therefore, it is true that cultural heritage tourism has been one of the major sources of both quantitative and qualitative growth of tourism industry in many countries.
In regard to the context of cultural heritage tourism industry, by identifying the relationship and impacts between tourist motivations, tourist satisfaction, and overall sense of tourist well-being, tourism marketers and administrators who are engaged in cultural heritage tourism can improve strategies for creating tourist's distinctive experiences, allowing tourists to become more physically and emotionally engaged in cultural heritage tourism destinations.
However, there is, if any, very limited work that explores the link between cultural heritage tourism experiences and overall sense of tourist well-being induced by these experiences. Therefore, this study examines what attributes on tourist motivation contribute to the overall sense of well-being of tourists who visit cultural heritage tourism destinations. Therefore, this study examines what attributes on tourist motivations contribute to the satisfaction and the overall sense of well-being of tourists who visit cultural heritage tourism sites.
An online survey using panel data from a marketing research company was used to collect 350 completed questionnaires. Tourist motivations (HONs and LONs), tourist satisfaction, and overall sense of tourist well-being were measured using different scales from previous researches discussed in the literature review.
This study conducted various analyses including a profile of 350 respondents based on descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis of tourist motivations, correlation analysis of all constructs, and path analysis for the conceptual study model to understand the relationships between tourist motivations and tourist satisfaction, tourist motivations and overall sense of tourist well-being, and tourist satisfaction and overall sense of tourist well-being and identify impacts of each construct on the study model.
This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge in understanding the link between cultural heritage tourism and overall sense of tourist well-being and identifying the perceived value and critical role of tourist motivations and tourist satisfaction connecting to overall sense of tourist well-being by establishing a theory based on empirical link between tourist motivations and overall sense of tourist well-being via tourist satisfaction in the context of cultural heritage tourism business. / Master of Science

Tourist Satisfaction with Cultural / Heritage Sites: The Virginia Historic TriangleHuh, Jin 15 July 2002 (has links)
Cultural/heritage tourism is the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry because there is a trend toward an increased specialization among tourists. This trend is evident in the rise in the volume of tourists who seek adventure, culture, history, archaeology and interaction with local people (Hollinshead, 1993). Especially, Americans' interest in traveling to cultural/ heritage destinations has increased recently and is expected to continue. For example, cultural/heritage sites are among the most preferred tourism experiences in America. (Virginia Department of Historic Resources, 1998)
The recent studies about cultural/heritage tourism focused on the characteristics of tourists who visited cultural/heritage destinations. The study attempts to investigate the relationship between cultural/heritage destination attributes and tourist satisfaction, and to identify the relationship between cultural/heritage destination attributes and tourist satisfaction in terms of selected tourists' demographic characteristics and travel behavior characteristics.
The expectancy-disconfirmation theory provided a conceptual framework for this study. The expectancy-disconfirmation theory holds that consumers first form expectations of products or service performance prior to purchasing or use. Subsequently, purchasing and use convey to the consumer beliefs about the actual or perceived performance of the product(s) or service(s). The consumer then compares the perceived performance to prior expectations. Consumer satisfaction is seen as the outcome of this comparison (Clemons & Woodruff, 1992).
The study area for this study was Virginia Historic Triangle (Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown). Virginia Historic Triangle has been called the largest living museum in the world. Furthermore, it is one of America's popular vacation destinations, attracting more than 4 million tourists each year. The data of this study were collected from the on-site survey method. The sample population for this study was composed of tourists who visited Virginia Historic Triangle between June and August in 2001. The survey was conducted at five different sites in the Virginia Historic Triangle. Out of 300 questionnaires, 251 were usable. Therefore, the data from 251 respondents were analyzed in this study.
Appropriate statistical analyses such as frequencies, descriptive, factor analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regressions, Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) were used according to respective objectives and descriptors.
The factor analysis was conducted to create correlated variable composites from the original 25 attributes. Using factor analysis, 25 destination attributes resulted to four dimensions: General Tour Attraction, Heritage Attraction, Maintenance Factors, and Culture Attraction. These four factors then were related with overall satisfaction. Correlation analysis revealed that four factors were correlated with tourists' overall satisfaction. The multiple regression analysis revealed that there was relationship between cultural/heritage destination attributes and tourists' overall satisfaction. MANOVA revealed that there was significant difference between derived factors in relation to only total household income and the length of stay among 10 demographic and travel behavior characteristics. ANOVA revealed that there is a significant difference in the overall satisfaction of tourists by gender, past experience, and decision time to travel. Finally, MANCOVA revealed that only one of the control variables (past experience) controlled the relationship between the overall satisfaction of tourists and derived factors.
Based upon the results of this study, several recommendations can be made to increase tourists' satisfaction with the Virginia Historic Triangle. First, comprehending what tourists seek at cultural/heritage attractions will help tourism marketers better understand their customers. Second, identifying which attributes satisfy the tourist who visit cultural/heritage destinations will help tourism planners develop appropriate strategies to attract their customers and serve them effectively. Third, knowing who the satisfied tourists are may help reduce marketing costs and maintain cultural/heritage destinations' sustainability. / Master of Science

Spin Network Evaluation and the Asymptotic BehaviorJayasooriya Arachchilage, Dinush Lanka Panditharathna 01 September 2020 (has links)
AN ABSTRACT OF THE DISSERTATION OFDinush Lanka Panditharathna Jayasooriya Arachchilage, forthe Doctor of Philosophy degree in MATHEMATICS, presented on June 22, 2020 at SouthernIllinois University Carbondale.TITLE: SPIN NETWORK EVALUATION AND THE ASYMPTOTIC BEHAVIORMAJOR PROFESSOR: Dr. Jerzy KocikGraphically, a spin network is a trivalent graph with weights on each edge. At anyof the vertices, the sum of all three weights is even and the sum of any two weights isgreater than or equal to the remaining weight. If the spin network has no free ends, thenwe can evaluate the spin network. Here, we propose a method to evaluate some basic spinnetworks using the idea of Stirling triangle.Tangent circles with integer curvatures are a natural source to make a spin network. In particular, there are spin networks corresponding the Apollonian circle packing and theFord circle packing. We obtain the recurrence relations using the Descartes circle theoremand we evaluate the Apollonian spin network and the Ford circle spin network. We alsodiscuss the asymptotic behavior of the Ford circle spin network.

Allt startar i relationen : En intervjustudie om hur lärare arbetar med att stärka elevers tillit till den egna förmågan / It all starts in the relation : An interview study about how teachers work with enforcing students trust in their own abilityAndersson, Johan January 2023 (has links)
Abstract The aim of this study was to find whether teachers at intermediate level work with enforcing students’ trust in their own ability. The study is based on the Swedish curriculum Lgr22 and the theoretical model ‘the didactic triangle’. The research questions were built based on the triangle and the curriculum. The method used is a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews. Eight well-experienced teachers participated from three F-6 schools in the middle of Sweden. The data were transcribed and then analysed according to a qualitative thematic method. The results show that the teacher student relationship is very important and the starting point for strengthening the students’ trust in their own abilities. Other important factors that have an impact in the student’s confidence are: to adjust the teaching and the content; to give feedback and response; affirmation and to give students further motivation to practise their skills and abilities. In the discussion, the conclusion is conveyed in the form of four practical tips based on the results of the study. Hopefully, this study will help future teachers in their profession.
