The role of the doctrine of the Trinity in the theology of Stanley J. Grenz

This thesis provides an examination into the primary features in the theology of one of the turn of the century's leading evangelical theologians, Stanley J. Grenz. It begins by establishing the controversial nature of Grenz's project within evangelical theology, and how his aims were misread by a number of evangelical scholars. It then argues that the primary feature in his writings was the doctrine of the Trinity, giving shape to his methodology, theology, and ethical engagement. Accordingly, this thesis identifies the most significant features he adopted and adapted from Wolfhart Pannenberg, whose influence on Grenz is readily seen. These features include not only how Grenz derived particular methodological aspects from Pannenberg (chap. 2), but also those related to the shape of his trinitarian theology itself (chap. 3). Next, while realizing that Grenz's new-found emphasis on a trinitarian project was not placed on a tabula rasa, a wider account of his trinitarian background is considered (chap. 4), as is the particular developmental shape of his doctrine of the Trinity itself (chap. 5). Following this, an examination is made into how Grenz accessed this doctrine of the Trinity, through the imago Dei concept, informed by a theological hermeneutic, theological exegesis, and weaved through the traditional systematic loci (chap. 6). Finally, the shape of his trinitarian ethical work is considered in light of the overall coherence of his body of writings, both in its early form as a Christian ethic as well as in the test-cases that were part of his engagement (chap. 7). This is followed by a summary of the reception of Grenz's project, which is deemed consistent with his aims of being both a distinctly evangelical and trinitarian theologian.

Why three? : an exploration of the origins of the doctrine of the Trinity with reference to Platonism and Gnosticism

In this thesis I explore the emergence of the Christian triad with reference to two contemporary movements: Middle Platonism and Gnosticism. The earliest Christian writer to enumerate the three constituents of what would become the Christian Trinity is Justin. In addition to his three extant works, Justin’s triadology can be diagnosed from those he directly influenced – Tatian and Athenagoras – who I have (somewhat artificially) grouped under the heading the “school of Justin”. The ontological triad adopted by these Christian thinkers is compared with the triads of Middle Platonism and Gnosticism, both in terms of their structure and in terms of the function and ontological status of the individual constituents of these triads. In this thesis I propose that a liturgical triad of primitive Christianity, the trine baptismal formula, was conflated by the “school of Justin” with the ontological triad of Middle Platonism, resulting in three referents of the baptismal formula being embued with new functions and ontological status. Whilst emerging as a hierarchical triad, the logic of Platonic ontology when combined with Christian tradition required the sharp distinction between God, as Being, and all other things resulting in a Christian triad that was also a unity. This new triad became fixed as a central tenet of Christianity. I find no plausible connection between any known Gnostic triad and the triad of the “school of Justin”. There is some interaction between Gnostic and Platonic thought during this period. It is possible that the Triple-Powered One pre-empted the Being-Mind-Life triad of Neoplatonism.

Dit is vir die kerk belangrik hoe sy op hierdie verandering reageer, want dit het ‟n impak op die taak van die kerk in die wêreld. Hierdie navorsing wil help om ‟n gepaste reaksie te vind vir die VGK-Koelenhof op haar spesifieke konteks. Hoofstuk een gee ‟n uiteensetting van die navorsing wat die doel, motivering en metode betref. Hoofstuk twee lê die basis vir die hele navorsing wat gegrond is in die Drie-Enige God wat ‟n sturende God is (missio Dei). Daar word gevra hoe die lewe in die triniteit die roeping van die kerk bepaal en die gang van die wêreld beїnvloed. In hoofstuk drie word die kerk se verhouding tot die Drie-Enige God belig. Die kerk moet geloofsonderskeiding beoefen ten einde haar roeping te ontdek. Hierdie proses is ook belangrik vir die besluitnemingsprosesse van die kerk. Dit impliseer dat die kerk as gestuurde van God in ‟n persoonlike gemeenskap met Hom moet leef sodat die kerk sensitief genoeg kan wees vir sy stem en hul roeping kan ontdek vir hul spesifieke omstandighede. In die vierde hoofstuk word beklemtoon dat die kerk ook in verhouding tot die wêreld staan waarin sy leef. Om haar roeping werklik uit te leef, moet die kerk nie net na God se stem luister nie, maar ook na die konteks waarin die kerk haar bevind. Die kerk het in haar bestaan sedert Jesus Christus telkens voor nuwe uitdagings te staan gekom en het verskillend daarop gereageer. ‟n Gepaste reaksie van die kerk se kant vereis soms dat die kerk intern verandering benodig. Dit is die fokus van hoofstuk vyf. Daar word gefokus op die aard van hierdie verandering, veral die rol van die leierskap in die hele proses. Hierdie verandering behels in hoofsaak ‟n verandering van instandhouding na gestuur-wees. Die verandering of transformasie in die kerk kan nooit ‟n doel op sigself wees nie. The changing global and local context of the church and the decline of the church‟s influence on society, call for a need of honest introspection. It is important how the church respond to these changes as it has an impact on the church‟s role in the world. This research aims to help the Uniting Reformed Congregation of Koelenhof to respond properly to its own context. Chapter one gives an outline of the research with regard to the goal, motivation and method. Chapter two lays the basis for the research which is grounded in the Triune God who is a sending God (missio Dei). The question here is how life in the Trinity affects the task of the church and destination of the world. In Chapter three the relationship between the church and God is highlighted. The church must exercise spiritual discernment to discover its missional vocation in the world. Spiritual discernment is also vital with regard to the decision processes of the church. This implies that the church, as a missionary of God, must have a personal relationship with Him so that the church can be sensitive enough to hear His voice. In chapter four the emphasis is on the church‟s relationship to the world in which she finds herself. For the church to really be faithful to her calling, she needs not only listen to God, but also to the context. Since the time of Jesus, the church has to face different challenges and has always react differently to each situation. A change of context often requires a change of heart. This is the focus of chapter five. What is the nature of these changes and especially the role of the church leadership in this regard? The answer is a transformation from being maintenance driven to being missionally inspired. This transformation is never a goal in itself. This transformation aims at the transformation of society. The transformation must enable the church to be an effective sign and foretaste of the kingdom of God. Therefore the title of chapter six is: From missional transformation to community transformation. In conclusion a summary is given of the results of this research.

Triniteit, antropologie en ecclesiologie : een kritisch onderzoek naar implicaties van de godsleer voor de positie van mannen en vrouwen in de kerk

Thesis (DTh)--Stellenbosch University, 2013. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This dissertation concerns the implications of the doctrine of the Trinity and the debate about women in ministry. The first chapter serves as introduction to the debate regarding men and women in the church as well as introduction to the doctrine of the Trinity. In the former, anthropology and ecclesiology very rarely get awarded equal discussion. More important, they are both influenced by the doctrine of God but little attention is given to these influences. The recent renaissance in trinitarian theology gives new opportunities in this regard. It is not without danger of projection, but we can do this because humankind is created in the image of God. Because the image of God firstly says something about God, chapter 2 deals with the doctrine of God in terms of the Trinity. The question is whether a relational understanding provides a justified vision on the doctrine of the Trinity. There are four topics discussed: (1) the One and Three, (2) the economic and immanent Trinity, (3) subordination, (4) language. Chapter 3 is about the traditional rational interpretation of the imago Dei who has been dominant throughout history. This is based upon the Deo uno understanding and has to do with (1) substance (2) carnality (3) the fall (4) masculinity. Due to the Reformation there was more attention for the Christological interpretation. It points to a more relational aspect but it could easily still be interpreted in a rational and an individualistic manner. The pneumatology is mostly ignored. Chapter 4 argues that speaking of imago Trinitatis instead of imago Dei deserves preference. The imago Trinitatis points to the importance of relationships, with God, neighbour and nature. After exploring definitions, there can be stated that masculinity and femininity together point to relationality. Regarding the issue of subordination, from a trinitarian mindset the relationship between men and women should be understood as a relationship of mutual submission. In chapter 5, firstly the understanding of imago Dei is discussed regarding ecclesiology and the ministry. The unity of the church and the Christological representation has been dominant throughout history. It could cause the exclusion of the Holy Spirit and women from the ministry. If the Church is seen rather as imago Trinitatis, the relationship between God and human, individual and community is expressed. For the ministry the starting point must be in the ministry of all believers. From a relational point of view the ordained ministry points to a different relationship with the congregation. The thematic of subordinance plays a large role in the question about whether women should be allowed into the ordained ministries, but mutual submission must be the central point. This is also seen in the use of feminine language in ecclesiology which points to an intimate relationship between God and the church. Only when men and women work together in the ordained ministry they represent the imago Trinitatis. Chapter 6 provides an overview of the study, drawes conclusions and gives practical recommendations. / AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie dissertasie gaan oor die implikasies van die godsleer vir die debat oor vroue in die amp. Die eerste hoofstuk dien as ’n inleiding op al twee onderwerpe. In die debat oor mans en vroue in die kerk is daar min aandag vir hoe die antropologie en ekklesiologie beïnvloed word deur die godsleer. Die onlangse renaissanse in trinitariese teologie gee nuwe moontlikhede om te kyk watter implikasies die godsleer het vir die antropologie en ekklesiologie. Al is daar die gevaar van projeksie, die verbinding tussen die onderwerpe kan gemaak word omdat die mens geskep is na die beeld van God. Omdat die beeld van God eerste iets sê oor God, word die dogma van die Triniteit bespreek in hoofstuk 2. Die vraag is of relasionaliteit help om ’n verantwoorde verstaan van die dogma te gee. Vier onderwerpe word behandel: 1. Die verhouding tussen die Deo uno en die Deo trino. 2. Die verhouding tussen die ekonomiese en immanente Triniteit. 3. Subordinasie in die Godheid. 4. Trinitariese taalgebruik. Hoofdstuk drie gaan oor die dominante rasionele interpretasie van die imago Dei. Dit is gebaseer op die Deo uno en het te make met substansie, liggaamlikheid, die sondeval en manlikheid. Deur die Reformasie het meer aandag gekom vir die Christologie en daardeur vir relasionaliteit, maar die pneumatologie kry min aandag en dit bly primêr gerig op die rasionele, die individu en die manlike geslag. Hoofdstuk vier argumenteer dat dit beter is om van imago Trinitatis as van imago Dei te praat, omdat die verhouding met die Triniteit en mense onderling sentraal staan. Manlik en vroulik is deel van die beeld van God en wys op die belang van verhoudings. Vanuit ’n trinitariese oogpunt moet subordinasie verstaan word vanuit wederkerige onderdanigheid. Hoofdstuk vyf bespreek eerstens die tradisionele imago Dei verstaan vir die ekklesiologie en geordineerde bediening. In die geskiedenis en tans speel eenheid en Christologiese representasie ’n dominante rol. Dit kan maak dat die Heilige Gees geen aandag kry nie asook dat vroue uitgesluit word van die geordineerde bediening. As die kerk egter gesien word as imago Trinitatis staan die verhouding tussen God en mens, individu en gemeenskap sentraal. Vanuit ’n relasionele oogpunt is die geordineerde bediening ’n ander verhouding met die gemeente. Subordinasie moet verwerp word op grond van geslag, en wederkerige onderdanigheid moet vanuit trinitariese perspektief verkies word. Dit is ook sigbaar in die vroulike ekklesiologiese terminologie. Dit wys op die intieme verhouding tussen God en die kerk. Manne én vroue verteenwoordig die bruid. Net wanneer hulle saamwerk in die geordineerde bediening verteenwoordig hulle die imago Trinitatis. Hoofdstuk 6 gee ’n oorsig van die ondersoek en maak verskillende gevolgtrekkings asook aanbevelings.

Darbo tikslas – išnagrinėti Stakliškių miestelio istorijos raidą XVII–XX a. pirmojoje pusėje. Iki šiol Stakliškių miestelio istorijos kompleksinio tyrimo nebuvo atlikta. Nors vieni ar kiti tyrinėtojai užfiksavo svarbesnius miestelio raidos įvykius, tačiau nuoseklaus vientiso tyrimo neatliko. Todėl ši priežastis paskatino autorę imtis tokio tyrimo. Autorės atrasti nauji, netyrinėti archyviniai šaltiniai svariai papildys turimą informaciją apie Stakliškes. Jie į mokslinę apyvartą įtraukiami pirmą kartą. Visuomenine prasme aktuali tema: auga visuomenės susidomėjimas Stakliškių miestelio istorija, jo paveldu. Ši priežastis paskatino parengti nuoseklią Stakliškių miestelio istorijos studiją. Subjektyvus-asmeninis noras detaliau pažinti gimtojo krašto istoriją, su ja supažindinti miestelio bendruomenę ir moksleivius. Šiuo metu naujoje švietimo koncepcijoje yra akcentuojama, kad mokyklose istorijos mokymą reikia pradėti nuo lokalinės istorijos (savo gatvės, kaimo/miesto, rajono) mokymo ir pereiti prie valstybės istorijos pažinimo. Tačiau dėl informacijos apie gimtąjį kraštą trūkumo, daugeliu atvejų tai neįmanoma padaryti. Todėl autorė siekė užpildyti Stakliškių miestelio istorijos tyrimų spragą. / The subject of this work for the Master of Science is the history of the Town of Stakliskes during the 17th Century through the first half of 20th Century. The work consists of introduction, 3 chapters with sections, conclusion, listings of abbreviations, sources and bibliography, as well as the enclosures. This kind of job structure was influenced by the chronological-problematic job research principal. The author discussing the historic development of the Town of Stakliskes, by distinguishing its most important stages, describing the stages of its religions heritage, and identifying its population’s demographic, social-economic, religious and cultural-public work during that historic period. Therefore the historic development of the events are outlined in the first chapter of this work, together with explanation of the most important factors (the origin of the estate and the church in Stakliskes). The second chapter talks about the history of the church in Stakliskes, its architectural style and the preservation of artistic and historic values. In the third chapter of this work the author analyzes the population situation and its social work during the 17th Century through the first half of 20th Century. This work is enriched with the enclosures, which include statistic tables with the population census in the 19th Century, created by the author. In view of this representation, the objective of analyzing the relationship between the economic aspects, such as the profit produced in sanctuaries, and the actual aspect of religious pilgrimages to the shrines of Fatima Portugal and Trinity Goiás Brazil. The research took a qualitative methodology and resorted to bibliographical research, in addition to numerous on-site visits. The thesis is structured in three chapters: the first dedicated to the concept and to the historical context of social tourism. The second sought to treat in depth of religious tourism in Trinidad and in Fatima. The third focused on specifically the study of the economic aspects of the pilgrimage to two shrines, such as the economic impact that religious tourism brings to both cities and their surroundings. / O turismo religioso estimula a economia de várias cidades do Brasil e de Portugal, sendo a maioria delas localizadas no interior dos dois Países. Tendo em vista essa representatividade, objetivou-se analisar a relação entre os aspectos econômicos, como o lucro produzido nos santuários, e o aspecto propriamente religioso das romarias aos santuários de Fátima Portugal e Trindade Goiás Brasil. A pesquisa assumiu um metodologia qualitativa e recorreu à pesquisa bibliográfica, além de numerosas visitas in loco. Adissertação está estruturada em três capítulos: o primeiro dedicado ao conceito e ao contexto histórico social do turismo. O segundo procurou tratar em profundidade do turismo religioso em Trindade e em Fátima. O terceiro focalizou especificamente o estudo dos aspectos econômicos da romaria aos dois santuários, como o impacto econômico que o turismo religioso traz para as duas cidades e seu entorno.

In his Trinity and the Kingdom of God works , Moltmann interprets an open Trinitarian doctrine. Doctrine sensitive to history with its vicissitudes, falls and uplifting, aches and cross. The understanding of Christian dogma is central, because it is the essence of the Christian faith. In The Crucified God , expressed radical love of God that is understood in its pathos revealed in Jesus Christ, presented in the understanding of crucifixion as an inner Trinitarian event between the Father and the Son, where what happens on the cross was an event between God and God. This work also permeates the entire dissertation. The Kingdom of God, radical content of the Trinitarian theology of Moltmann, appears on the Christology of the Way of Jesus Christ. Italian, catholic and foundress of the Focolare Movement, Chiara s reflection is on nature starting from a Christian lifeworld in order to progressively interpret all of human and natural reality. After going through the historical roots and the basics of Chiara Lubich s spirituality, some mystical writings are presented, especially those concerning the Creation and nature. The theological depth of spirituality is, then, discussed by means of the aspects of Unity and Jesus Forsaken. The first can be understood as the unity of the Trinity, fruit of perichoresis but also as the presence of Christ in the community. The second, a particular understanding of the Cross of Christ. The relationship between these two aspects and their understanding that occur in the community through the action of the Spirit indicate that the very approach to the mystery of the paschal event is trinitarian. This is the theological source from where Lubich understands nature. The similarities between Chiara Lubich s thought and the franciscan tradition are presented. Her understanding of the Creation is expressed, then, in boaventurian style. This conception of the Trinity is experienced in a mystical form and forges a representation of the actual structure of the world. Her specific religious thought on nature is that the objects, relationships, natural events and the whole cosmos are conceived in a dynamism of the Trinity and have, thus, a Trinitarian ontology. This conception about nature is oriented to detect those connections of meaning: the trinitarian ontology as a heuristic method that evolves from the Trinitarian mystery to understand nature. Still, the religious thought of Lubich has characteristics of critical realism: scientific and religious knowledge express the Trinitarian structure of reality through their respective methods and awareness of their provisional status. Religion is also studied in its natural appearance by means of the cognitive sciences, which are interpreted within the same critical realist framework of the trinitarian ontology. Finally, a parallel is drawn between epistemic procedures of religion, as it can be seen in Lubich, and natural science reinforcing both the idea of the autonomy of religious thought and its positive epistemic status / Este estudo versa sobre o pensamento de Chiara Lubich sobre a natureza física em chave filosófica e teológica. Após discorrer sobre as origens históricas e a estrutura básica de sua espiritualidade, esta dissertação apresenta alguns escritos do período místico, em especial os que têm por objeto a criação e a natureza. A profundidade teológica da espiritualidade, então, é discutida por meio dos aspectos da Unidade e Jesus abandonado. A unidade pode ser entendida tanto como presente na Trindade pela pericorese quanto com a presença de Cristo na comunidade. Jesus Abandonado se refere a uma particular compreensão da Cruz de Cristo. A relação entre estes aspectos e sua compreensão que se dá na comunidade pela ação do Espírito indicam que a própria aproximação ao mistério do evento pascal é trinitária. Essa é a fonte teológica de onde Lubich parte para entender a natureza. As semelhanças do pensamento de Lubich com o franciscanismo são apresentadas. Sua compreensão da criação se exprime, portanto, em estilo boaventuriano. Essa concepção trinitária é experimentada pela autora em chave mística e molda uma representação da estrutura real do mundo. Seu específico pensamento religioso para a natureza é que os objetos, relações, eventos naturais e o cosmo são concebidos em uma dinamicidade trinitária e possuem, com isso, uma ontologia trinitária. Essa concepção da natureza se orienta para detectar aquelas conexões de sentido: a ontologia trinitária é uma heurística que parte do mistério Trinitário para compreender a natureza. Ainda, este pensamento religioso de Lubich é realista crítico: os conhecimentos científicos e religiosos exprimem a estrutura trinitária da realidade, por meio de seus respectivos métodos e conscientes de sua provisoriedade. Distinto de outras formas cognitivas a religião também é estudada no seu aspecto natural por meio das ciências cognitivas, que são interpretadas dentro do mesmo quadro realista crítico da ontologia trinitária. Enfim, é apresentado um paralelismo entre os procedimentos epistêmicos da religião, como pode ser visto em Lubich, e das ciências naturais, reforçando tanto a idéia da autonomia do pensamento religioso quanto de seu estatuto epistêmico positivo

Como pensar uma atividade que lida com corpos, como é o caso da sensação, numa filosofia que está em constante busca e valoriza como superior o que é incorporal? Não seria de se esperar que em tal filosofia esse problema fosse relegado ao ostracismo ou simplesmente ignorado? Não é o que parece acontecer. Contudo, tal problema nos parece ser pouco estudado. É na busca por resolvê-lo de modo mais aprofundado que se coloca o presente trabalho. Ao que parece, os textos agostinianos tentam mostrar que a sensação é uma atividade da alma. Mas como isso é possível se a alma é incorporal e aquilo que ela sente é corpóreo? Relacionando isso ao problema inicial é necessário ver em que medida essa atividade pode adquirir alguma relevância filosófica. Nossa tese é que tal relevância é afirmada justamente pelo fato de ser uma atividade anímica, já que a alma é superior aos corpos. Mas acima de tudo, essa relevância parece alcançar toda a sua amplitude na obra de maturidade intitulada De trinitate. Tentaremos demonstrar que nela Agostinho propõe uma solução que, no seu pensamento, seria definitiva sobre o problema. Ali ele o redimensiona a partir das tríades humanas que são análogas à Trindade Divina a consideração da sensação se dando em uma dessas tríades inseridas num processo de ascenção interiorizante. Contudo, como isso acontece e se justifica é o que pretendemos expôr no que se segue. / How to think of an activity that deals with bodies, as is the case of sensation, in a philosophy that is constantly seeking and values as superior what is incorporeal? Is it not to be expected that in such philosophy this problem would be ostracized or simply ignored? It is not what seems to happen. However, this problem seems to be little studied. It is in the search for solving it in a more in-depth way that the present work is placed. It seems that the Augustinian texts try to show that sensation is an activity of the soul. But how is this possible if the soul is incorporeal and what it feels is corporeal? Relating this to the initial problem is necessary to see to what extent this activity can acquire some philosophical relevance. Our thesis is that such relevance is affirmed precisely because it is an activity of soul, since the soul is superior to the bodies. But above all, this relevance seems to reach its full extent in the work of maturity entitled De trinitate. We will try to demonstrate that in it Augustine proposes a solution that, in his thought, would be definitive about the problem. There he reshapes it from the human triads that are analogous to the Divine Trinity - the consideration of sensation taking place in one of these triads inserted in a process of interiorising ascension. However, how this happens and is justified is what we intend to expose in what follows.

Globalização financeira e taxa de juros do Brasil : um estudo econométrico

A globalização desencadeou uma maior aproximação econômica entre os indivíduos, as empresas e os governos do mundo todo. Desta forma, de maneira muito rápida são executadas decisões de investimentos por parte dos aplicadores financeiros por todo o mundo na busca de governos ou empresas que se disponham a pagar “mais juros” sobre o capital financeiro aplicado. Assim, a globalização financeira e a abertura econômica estão intimamente relacionadas com o câmbio e a política monetária. A essência dessa relação foi desenvolvida na década de 1960 por Mundell e Fleming como a "Trindade Impossível", a qual destaca que é possível atingir apenas dois dos três desejáveis objetivos de uma nação: a integração financeira, a estabilidade da taxa de câmbio e a autonomia monetária. Neste contexto, o objetivo central deste estudo será analisar a influência da globalização financeira na determinação da taxa de juros brasileira, observando o atual contexto da globalização financeira no mundo e no Brasil e as interações entre os mercados monetário e de câmbio. Então, este estudo é de grande relevância porque a globalização fez com que o globo deixasse de ser apenas uma figura astronômica, mas sim um território no qual todos se encontram relacionados e há uma gama de relações que passam desapercebidas no dia a dia, que aqui serão evidenciadas. Para isso, há cinco partes neste estudo. A primeira parte apresentará uma introdução do tema; a parte dois abordará a globalização financeira, desde uma visão geral sobre o assunto até os seus efeitos no mundo e no Brasil; a parte três apresentará as interações dos mercados monetário e de câmbio; a parte quatro apresentará a Trindade Impossível; a parte cinco avaliará aspectos que afetam a política monetária brasileira, a partir de um estudo econométrico, que explica a taxa de juros do Brasil como função de alguns parâmetros endógenos e exógenos; e a parte seis destacará as principais conclusões sobre a influência da globalização financeira na determinação da taxa de juros do Brasil, especialmente nos últimos quinze anos da história brasileira. / Globalization approached individuals, businesses and governments economically around the world. In this way, financial investors take decisions searching for governments or companies which are willing to pay "more interests" for the financial capital invested. Thus, financial globalization and economic liberalization are closely related to the exchange rate and monetary policy. The essence of this relationship was developed in the 1960s by Mundell and Fleming as the "Trinity Impossible", that means to achieve only two out of three desirable goals of a nation: financial integration, exchange rate stability and monetary autonomy. In this context, the main goal of this study is to analyze the influence of financial globalization that affects Brazilian interest rates, observing the current context of financial globalization in the world and in Brazil; and the interactions between monetary and exchange markets. So, this study is very important because globalization has made the globe not just an astronomical figure, but a territory in which everybody is related, and there is an range of relationships unrealized every day. That will become apparent in this study. For that, there are five parts in this study. Part one will be an introduction of the theme; part two will deal with financial globalization, from an overview of the subject to its effects in the world and in Brazil; part three will present the interactions of monetary and exchange markets; part four will present the Trinity Impossible; part five will evaluate aspects that affect Brazilian monetary policy, by a econometric model, which explains Brazilian interest rates as a function of some endogenous and exogenous parameters; and part six will highlight the main findings on the influence of financial globalization that affects Brazilian interest rates, especially in the last fifteen years in Brazilian history.
