Reliable UDP and Circular DHT implementation for the MediaSense Open-Source Platform

Schröder, Timo, Rüter, Florian January 2012 (has links)
MediaSense is an EU funded platform that is an implementation of an Internet-of-Things framework. This project adds two fundamental functions to it, namely, a new lookup service based on a peer-to-peer Distributed Hash Table (DHT) called Chord and a reliable communication protocol based on UDP (RUDP). The lookup service makes the use of a central server, that can be a single point of failure or get compromised, unnessecary. Reliable UDP transmits data from the very first packet onwards and avoids any connection management as itis packet based. The methodology for both functions was to develop a simulation environment, compatible to MediaSense, at its initiation, at which point its functionality can be tested and measurements can betaken. The resulting DHT simulation environment enables there to be deep insight into and a control of the state and action of the DHT. The resulting graphs show the performance properties of both the DHT and RUDP. In conclusion, the MediaSense platform has been extended by means of two usable functionalities and which also leaves space for further development such as for security enhancements and performance increases. / MediaSense

The thesis is about industrial automatic CIP protocol, which belongs to SCADA systems. The first part is focused on basic principles of CIP protocol and on analysis of two protocols (EtherNET/IP and DeviceNet), which are based on CIP protocol. The second part deals with designing scenarios for a simulation. The simulation of one-way communication, two-way communication with help of reads from the console and two-way real time communication between Raspberries PI 3B+. The third part deals with a realization of the simulation, a start-up and a function of predefined scenarios and graphic interface. The fourth part deals with analysis network communication in situations, which occur during a protocol EtherNet/IP simulation.

Implementace simulačního modelu zjednodušené databáze DiffServ-MIB / Implementation of a simulation model for a simplified DiffServ-MIB database

Zeman, Otto January 2008 (has links)
The aim of this work is to propose feasible solution for the simulation of the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) protocol in the OPNET Modeler simulation environment. This work describes in detail individual procedures, which were chosen for this simulation . The work also contains an introduction to the OPNET Modeler simulation environment, the SNMP protocol, the DiffServ model and the DiffServ-MIB database. The main part of this work describes the algorithms programmed to model the functions of the SNMP protocol. Source codes of the algorithms programmed are included as well. The work deals especially with the functions for obtaining values from different levels of a multilevel model attributes, packet creation functions with dynamically changing length of user-data field, for the implementation process of a simplified DiffServ MIB database and with the functions for statistic creation.

Převodník Ethernet na CAN pro řízení mobilních robotů / An Ethernet-CAN controller for mobile robots

Uherka, Bohumil January 2012 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with creating the Ethernet converter protocol UDP of the CAN bus with the used application layer CANopen. The converter is executed by means of the microcontroller ARM Cortex-M3, namely by STM32F107VC by STMicroelectronics. The project is designed for the purpose of serving as the main motor controlling card of the mobile advertising robot FektBot. In the theoretical part you can find a brief analysis of the ARM microcotrollers problematics, particularly the STM32F107VC. Then the thesis introduces the Ethernet technology including the UDP protocol. Finally, the CAN bus and its application layer CANopen is described. The practical part shows first of all the scheme of converter hardware. You can find there the design of printed circuits including all components for proper functioning, i.e. especially the microcontroller STM32F107VC, Ethernet PHY, the CAN bus transceiver and switched stabilized supply. Next chapter describes software creating for the given converter. Firstly there are analyzed possible ways of STM32F107VC programming, and then there is the main conception of resolving the programming part shown. The thesis then deals with the concrete implementation of the UDP Ethernet protocol. For that, the lwIP stack is used, over which the application layer of the FektBot robot works. Then there is analyzed the implementation of the CAN bus and CANopen. At the end of the practical part, the final execution of the converter software and the ways of its testing are described.

Simulácia dátových sietí s využitím priameho vykonávania kódu / Data network simulation using direct code execution

Trávníček, Michal January 2013 (has links)
Purpose of this master thesis was to explain simulation of real network, point to the imperfection during these simulations and try to find out technologies and solutions that could improve credibility of simulation. For this purpose, network simulator ns-3 has been chosen which supports direct code execution together with Quagga software suite. Master thesis describes internet protocol IPv4, UDP protocol, basics of routing and detailed explanation of OSPF routing protocol. Focus in this thesis is also on general description of simulation, its kinds and detail explanation of discrete simulation that is used by ns-3 simulator. Next chapter explains theory of ns-3 simulator, its development, conceptual overview and objects. Direct code execution and Quagga that both help improve credibility of simulation, are described in last chapter of theoretical part of thesis. In practical part of thesis is explained how to install and configure all three implemantaions of ns-3 simulator on Ubuntu, linux distribution. On the basis of obtained knowledge, the simulation model has been designed, also there has been given detailed explanation of how to create new model of simulation and how to analyze its results for all implementation.

The management and conservation of rock art sites and paintings in the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Fordred, Claire Louisa 16 January 2012 (has links)
The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park (UDP) is a World Heritage Site known for its cultural San heritage and its natural beauty, which is advertised as a world tourist attraction. Tourism is a debatable issue with regards to its negative and/or positive impacts on rock art along with commodification aspects. Negatively, visitation of sites increased natural deterioration of the site, the art and challenges for cultural resource management. While increased awareness of rock art conservation is a positive aspect through tourism and developments, contributes optimistically. San heritage is unique, defining our cultural identity and has the power to encourage national unification. The aim of this project is to assess the complexities of tourism developments and its immediate impacts at different rock art sites in the UDP through an analysis of management and conservation methods. The monitoring of these mentioned methods applied is important as it evaluates the effectiveness of past techniques and provides suggestions for other rock art sites. The current conditions at nine study sites in the UDP were investigated under three main criteria; deterioration of the sites and paintings through natural and human impacts, tourism developments and management. Data collection followed principles such as; site mapping, narrative recording, graphic documentation, and is represented in evaluation tables. Results concluded that common management methods were implemented at sites to provide standard conservation practices, but every site had room for improvement. The results have led to the formulation of recommendations that can be applied at other rock art sites and can contribute to future management and conservation protocols. The study highlights the unique demands made on rock art sites by tourism and concludes with final comments and recommendations. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology / MA / Unrestricted
