Bluetooth-USB-adapter

Modigh, Fredrik, Niva, Jerry January 2013 (has links)
This thesis work had the intention to acoording to the processes of Motion Control develop a prototype of a wireless cable replacer for an existing product, USB I/O. USB I/O is an I/O and data collection unit with a number of in- and outputs. It has in some applications the drawback that it is connected through a USB cable. The idea for the work was to create a unit to connect to USB I/O which has the capability to connect to any existing “Bluetooth dongle” on the market.Three investigations were made. The first was a market investigation to see potential system solutions and to find out any direct competitors. It showed that the existing market did not offer any large number of active similar products. After this, two investigations were made to find suitable components for the prototype. Half way in the thesis it came obvious that whichever Bluetooth module that could be chosen, a Bluetooth profile, HID, was needed and had to be modified in order to use the conventional “Bluetooth dongles”. This would make a great cost or effort in development time than the scope of the thesis work allowed. From this, a decision was made to also include development of an additional unit to connect to the computer side, which then would replace the “dongle”.The thesis resulted in a prototype consisting of two subsystems, however in need of further development, offering partly the intended functionality. The USB I/O could be started up on a computer wirelessly using the system.

A Cross-platform Picture Transfer Protocol for Linux-based Camera

Högberg, Marcus January 2015 (has links)
The Universal Serial Bus, USB, is widely used for connecting peripheral devices to a computer. Through the years devices that use USB has evolved and more and more complicated communication protocols have been developed using the USB standard. There are many different ways to set up communication between a USB device and a host computer. The USB standard does not include any security and this poses risks when designing communication over such a connection. This thesis investigates how a USB-based picture transfer protocol can be designed between a small camera running embedded Linux and a host computer. The USB functionality in Windows and Mac OS/X operating systems are investigated. Solutions to create a secure USB communication are also investigated. One of three the methods of creating a USB connection with a USB device running embedded Linux are chosen based on the investigations. A protocol is then designed and an implementation developed. The protocol designed in the thesis uses existing USB functionality in the host computer operating systems Windows and Mac OS/X. The designed protocol is evaluated for performance and security. The evaluation is made on an evaluation platform for the camera. The transfer speed of the protocol is measured to around 18 MB/s in an ideal environment. The designed protocol could be improved by using one of the security methods found in the investigations.

USB 2.0 Audio device / USB 2.0 Ljudenhet

Österberg, Johan, Ekblom, Carl-David January 2012 (has links)
The main task of this project were to develop, hardware and software that could stream audio data via USB 2.0. This project were based on XMOS, USB 2.0 design. In this project we have brought an idea to reality in the form of a finished product. This with verification help from engineers on Syncore technologies. Under the development process the functionality surrounding component databases, provided by Altium designer, were to be evaluated. To be mentioned is that Altium designer was the software used to develop the PCB in this project. After many hours spent developing, we finally got the hardware and software to behave in the way it was suppose to do. That is, to be able to stream audio data from a high-resolution source(PC/MAC/unit with S/PDIF out, maximum resolution 24-bit 192 kHz). This to both S/PDIF and analog stereo out via RCA-connectors. The sound quality from a possible subjective point of view is very good and we are happy with the result. We think that the functionality surrounding component databases are convenient in many applications. Not just the fact that you easily can generate an up to date pricing of all components used in a project, you can also shorten the development process. This because the developer don't have to recreate schematic symbols and footprints that has already been created. Which of course was the fundamental idea behind the database functionality. These are just a few examples of its advantages. To be considered is the fact that the administration surrounding the component databases can be very time consuming. To take full advantage of Altium designers functionalities we think that it needs a dedicated administrator that maintains the database repository.

Removable media software engineering

Zabava, Bruce A. 22 February 2011 (has links)
This report focuses on software solutions that are fully contained on CD, DVD, or USB storage devices. When the removable media is selected as the boot device on a computer system, it will launch its own operating system and then execute the actions it was written to perform. Organizations often have many types of removable media solutions that are engineered to perform various tasks; however, this report will focus on only two types of removable media projects that are often needed by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs): the end user reinstallation media (EURM) and the field service reinstallation media (FSRM). In this document we explain the purpose of EURM and FSRM solutions, the engineering methods used to create them, what engineering measurements can be used to achieve project goals, what to consider when implementing process improvements, and finally how to analyze the results of said process improvements. / text

Sensoriamento de ambiente utilizando o padrão ZigBee / Environment sensing using ZigBee standard

Monsignore, Ferdinando 26 February 2007 (has links)
A huge expansion has occurred in wireless communication in the last few years.
