Cette thèse questionne le devenir du champ de l’Architecture urbaine en France, et, plus particulièrement, les possibilités d’une réactualisation de ses approches et théories projectuelles dans le contexte des mutations et prises de conscience plurielles au regard de la ville européenne contemporaine. Elle met en lumière les évolutions dans les modes de pensée et les notions structurantes du champ depuis sa définition dans les années 1970 et propose une remise en question des fondements du projet urbain, tels qu’ils ont été formulés en France depuis les années1980. L’idée d’une nouvelle approche projectuelle, celle du projet métropolitain, est enquêtée, d’une part, à travers une relecture critique des positionnements théoriques véhiculés en France (depuis la décennie 1980), et d’autre part, à travers un regard critique prospectif, au prisme de trois outils conceptuels et opératoires : récit, scénario, figure. Leur exploration fait apparaître le propre d’une culture narrative-descriptive où nouvelles postures intellectuelles, démarches réflexives et représentations mentales contribuent à développer les nouveaux sens du projet métropolitain, entre continuités et ruptures avec l’héritage du projet urbain. / This thesis questions new developments within the field of urban Architecture in France and, specifically, possibilities for the renewal of the discipline’s project approaches and theories, taken in the context of increased awareness towards the multiple challenges presented by the contemporary European city. It thus highlights fundamental changes in conceptual frameworks (ways of thinking and structuring notions) since Urban Architecture’s first definition in France in the 1970s, and critically analyses the “projet urbain” approaches, as developed in the French context since the1980s. The idea of the “metropolitan project” as a renewed urban planning and design approach is thus investigated both from a retrospective and a prospective critical view point : on one side, by reviewing the “projet urbain”’s theories and methods; on the other, by exploring three conceptual and operating design tools – narrative, figure and scenario. Within this emerging narrative-descriptive design culture, renewed intellectual stances, reflexive processes and mental representations help develop new meanings of the “metropolitan project”, marking both continuities and points of departure with respect to the legacy of the “projet urbain”.

El proyecto nace de una oportunidad que nos brinda la trama urbana del distrito de San Miguel. En el espacio de trabajo encontramos diversos elementos que caóticamente conviven y que necesitan una propuesta que resuelva sus necesidades. El proyecto se ubica en el actual Centro de rehabilitación de menores “Maranguita”, el cual es de uso mixto y es propiedad del Poder Judicial. El entorno urbano viene siendo afectado directamente por el crecimiento desordenado y la falta de planeamiento. La zona se presenta como potencial para el crecimiento inmobiliario, pero a la vez sus diversos problemas como la tugurización y la inseguridad frenan su desarrollo. Propuse la creación de un equipamiento urbano, que actué como eje principal del reordenamiento de la manzana, componiéndola como un elemento singular de la trama urbana, en el cual pueda relacionarse con una vivienda de densidad media y los espacios urbanos que se tienen alrededor. El objetivo principal fue recuperar el lugar, devolviéndole las características perdidas por la larga exposición a un equipamiento que ya no debería estar en la ciudad. Funcionalmente el edificio cuenta con dos bloques: En el primero la zona publica, ubicada en el bloque sur del edifico, cuenta con servicios principalmente para los jóvenes y niños del distrito, como servicios de salud, servicios sociales, biblioteca, zonas de recreación y de formación. En el segundo bloque se encuentra la zona de servicios, ubicada en el bloque norte, cuenta con zonas administrativas y de gestión cultural, además con cocinas y talleres de mantenimiento. / e project is located in the current Child Rehabilitation Center "Maranguita" and is owned by the Judicial Branch. The urban environment is directly affected by the disorderly growth and lack of planning. The area is presented as a potential for real estate growth, but at the same time its various problems such as slum and insecurity slow down its development. I proposed the creation of an urban facility, which acted as the main axis of the rearrangement of the block, composing it as a singular element of the urban fabric, in which it could be related to a medium density house and the surrounding urban spaces. The main objective was to recover the place, returning the characteristics lost due to long exposure to equipment that should no longer be in the city. Functionally the building has two blocks: In the first the public area, located in the south block of the building, has services primarily for youth and children of the district, such as health services, social services, library, recreation and training areas. In the second block is the service area, located in the northern block, has controlled access only for staff and suppliers of the building, has administrative and cultural management areas, also with kitchens and maintenance workshops. / Tesis
