Les images dans la ville de Santiago du Chili : manifestations des activités commerciales et citoyennes / Images from the city of Santiago de Chili : expressions of commercial and social activity

Velásquez, Paola 15 December 2011 (has links)
Thus, with the starting point a vast cache of photographs and cards, collected over a long period in Santiago city-center, the issue involves comprehending the image/context as a whole, a task that, after a case-by-case examination, will allow us to analyze the image as an integral part of its location. The goal, therefore, is the observation of the role of images in the construction of the urban environment and as fundamental components of our everyday surroundings. In this way, various aspects come to the fore throughout the process: the distribution of images relative to the power of the forces they represent reveals, in the whole, the spatial activities of the social group; the way in which the image transforms the space and the space in turn redefines the image; the relationship between image and architecture; between the dynamics of the image and the urban dynamics; and, lastly, the impact of new technologies on the urban landscape. In summation, throughout our research we have followed the progressive existence of location-specific imagery as an object in its own right and an essential element that will shape the visual landscape of cities in the 21st century

O spray e a tinta: a cobertura da imprensa sobre os grafites artísticos na década de 80 / The spray and the paint, press coverage of 80s artistic graffiti

Dias, Sílvia Freire 22 March 2019 (has links)
This work looks into press coverage of artistic graffiti in São Paulo during the 80s, which first saw widespread use of images in urban interventions in the city\'s streets, in what amounted to an artistic movement. The goal of this work is to consider the media\'s portrayal and interpretation of this outlaw movement that emerged outside the mainstream art scene, concurrently with the country\'s transition back to democracy amid a societal push for more freedom of expression. This research approaches the history of artistic graffiti in São Paulo through interviews with artists who were part of that movement, and it relates said history with the coverage it got from the press. In a bid to qualify its analysis of media coverage, this work drew on journalism theory for theoretical foundations on the construction of the news, while taking into consideration the work routines, pressures, and limitations experienced by practitioners of this professional activity on a day-to-day basis.

Paisagem urbana: frestas, fricções e descaminhos / -

Silva, Alan Beserra Toledo da 07 November 2018 (has links)
This dissertation reflects on the creation of a set of poetic operations performed in urban space, whose purpose is to problematize the influences that the \"body of the city\" exerts on the bodies of its inhabitants and the subsequent subjectivation processes. It has the cartography as basic investigative procedure, which articulates research in three procedural modes: 1) walking in urban space in an erratic way, with the objective of formulating and absorbing questions that the multiple environments raise; 2) the production of artistic interventions in public spaces, with a aim of questioning local and passers-by, diverting them from the practical-functional routine by opening \"sensitive gaps\" in the daily life of the cities; 3) to produce shifts from public space issues to private spaces, through aesthetic events, that use resources mainly of photography, video and performance, to discuss affective reciprocities between subject and urban landscape.

Kassab, Cláudia Grünauer 16 May 2014 (has links)
This study intends to examine the consolidation of the urban landscape in the luz region in São Paulo, starting from the year 1872, by means of an analysis of architectural heritage works in that region, along with the aesthetical and historical pro- files of each building. The selection of a representative sample allows an understanding of the evolution of urban visual iden- tity in the region as it may be seen today. A parallel is drawn with social, political, historical and semiological aspects, seeking to deepen the understanding of the urban phenomenon that is reflected in the landscape by over 90 historical buildings. The succession of aesthetical movements, of urban reforms and de- mographic vectors has left an impressively diverse legacy, pro- viding a priceless register for the study of urban transforma- tions in são paulo. This study has the objective of preserving and documenting those references.
