The systematic analysis and innovative design of the essential cultural elements with Peking Opera Painted Faces (POPF)

Wang, Ding January 2016 (has links)
Peking Opera (‘Jingju’) is one of the most iconic traditional theatres in China, marketed as a global signifier of Chinese theatre and national identity. The research considers current recognised illustrations of Peking Opera Painted Faces (POPF). Through both new cultural-based product design solutions and design inspired visual communication solutions, the purpose of the new design is to apply the semantic features of Chinese Traditional POPF to the modern design, and establish close contact with all aspects of social life. Also to promote a series of developable plans including product design, interaction design, system design and service design in China and Western countries proceeding from POPF, along with the integration of other elements of traditional Chinese cultures and arts. *POPF is short for Peking Opera Painted Faces.

Orientation volontaire de l’attention visuelle chez l’homme et le macaque Rhésus / Voluntary orientation of visual attention in human and macaque monkeys

Ibos, Guilhem 01 July 2009 (has links)
Qui plus est, nous montrons l’existence dans FEF d’une nouvelle classe de cellules impliqués dans le contrôle exécutif des fonctions cognitives et notamment attentionnelles / Visual attention is a critical process to a correct perception of our visual environment. This term includes all mechanisms involved in the selection of information in order to processit in priority. It is generally proposed that voluntary orientation of attentional capacity is a220slow and sustained process, while unvoluntary orientation is fast. We show here by apsychophysical study that voluntary orientation is in fact a rapid process that is easely maskedby others cognitiv process of general engagement. This phenomenon is sustained by a large network of cerebral areas, including the Frontal Eye Field (FEF), and the Lateral IntraParietal area (LIP). We recorded neuronal activity of 2monkey’s FEF and LIP neuronal activity while they were engaged in a attentional task. Weshow here that these 2 areas play 2 crucial differents roles. Contrary to FEF, that is highlyinvolved in attentional orientation and engagement, LIP neuronal activity present few attentional modulations. LIP and FEF cells present large cognitive activities selectives to selection of the important event of the task. We hypothesis that FEF controles the voluntary orientation of visual attention while LIP detects the target.More over, we highly the existence of a new FEF’s cell category involved in the executive control of cognitives function (as attentional).

The Value of Redesigning Visualization Tools : A case study on carbon emissions data / Värdet i att omarbeta visualiseringsverktyg : En fallstudie på utsläppsdata

Jakobsson, Louise January 2021 (has links)
Organizations can reduce carbon emissions by collecting data on what their emissions are and replace activities that are emission dense. To aid exploration, emission data can be visualized using a data visualization tool. A basic principle of designing a data visualization tool is the Visual Information Seeking Mantra (VISM): Overview first, zoom and filter, then details-on-demand. The company Measure & Change, which created a tool automating the retrieval and calculation of an organization’s emission data, has also designed a visualization tool for exploring such data. However, this tool was not created with the VISM in mind. This thesis discusses and evaluate (1) How can the data visualization tool be optimized using the design principle of Overview first, zoom and filter, details-on-demand? and (2) What is the impact of re-designing the data visualization tool in such a way? Through analysis of the dataset, user tasks, and the Visual Information Seeking Mantra, a new prototype was created. Both prototypes were then evaluated in A/B tests, with thinking aloud, a semi-structured interview, and the standardized ICE-T survey. The results suggest that the changes improved the tool, and that the user value increased. The ICE-T scores put the old implementation at 4.7, and the new prototype at 6. Visualizations scoring 5 or higher are generally accepted as valuable.

Využití televizní dotykové obrazovky (plazmy) ve zpravodajství ČT24 / Utilization of TV Touch Screen (plasma) in CT24 News

Prokeš, Martin January 2021 (has links)
In this thesis, the author deals with a topic focusing on use of plasma screens and plasma technologies in contemporary news channel CT24 broadcasting. The thesis is contained of theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, the author summarizes existing findings of the television news field. The theoretical part includes a basic definition of television news and its subsequent changes, primarily because of digitalization process. In the connection with digitalization, the author also deals with new formats of television news, such as TV graphics. In the second half of theoretical part, the author focuses on characteristics of Czech Television and CT24 news channel. It contains of brief description of programs and studies, from which CT24 broadcasts, and which are closely related to use of plasma technologies. In the practical part, the author then focuses on the specific use of plasma technologies in the broadcast of CT24 channel. First, the author offers a basic division of what these elements are used for in broadcasting. Based on his own experience and interviews with Czech Television staff, he then describes the use of plasma technologies in individual programs and studios and offers their comparison.

Visualization of live search / Visualisering av realtidssök

Nilsson, Olof January 2013 (has links)
The classical search engine result page is used for many interactions with search results. While these are effective at communicating relevance, they do not present the context well. By giving the user an overview in the form of a spatialized display, in a domain that has a physical analog that the user is familiar with, context should become pre-attentive and obvious to the user. A prototype has been built that takes public medical information articles and assigns these to parts of the human body. The articles are indexed and made searchable. A visualization presents the coverage of a query on the human body and allows the user to interact with it to explore the results. Through usage cases the function and utility of the approach is shown.
