Visual Narrative Game Design : Ett narrativ utan konversation / Visual Narrative Game Design : A narrative without conversationNordqvist, Filip, Sahlbom, Erik January 2018 (has links)
We study the narrative style that Flower and Journey uses. In this narrative style, there is nodialogue and text. Based on Flower and Journey, we created a design method that will be aninspiration for developers who want to test this style. The result of this bachelor thesis givesrise to a design method that we apply to our game idea this applies the method to anothergame genre. Much of the method is very focused on what Flower and Journey do when weonly examine these two games. We would like to do a more general study when we examinemore games that also have a narrative without dialogue and text.

Clutter-Based Dimension Reordering in Multi-Dimensional Data VisualizationPeng, Wei 11 January 2005 (has links)
Visual clutter denotes a disordered collection of graphical entities in information visualization. It can obscure the structure present in the data. Even in a small dataset, visual clutter makes it hard for the viewer to find patterns, relationships and structure. In this thesis, I study visual clutter with four distinct visualization techniques, and present the concept and framework of Clutter-Based Dimension Reordering (CBDR). Dimension order is an attribute that can significantly affect a visualization's expressiveness. By varying the dimension order in a display, it is possible to reduce clutter without reducing data content or modifying the data in any way. Clutter reduction is a display-dependent task. In this thesis, I apply the CBDR framework to four different visualization techniques. For each display technique, I determine what constitutes clutter in terms of display properties, then design a metric to measure visual clutter in this display. Finally I search for an order that minimizes the clutter in a display. Different algorithms for the searching process are discussed in this thesis as well. In order to gather users' responses toward the clutter measures used in the Clutter-Based Dimension Reordering process and validate the usefulness of CBDR, I also conducted an evaluation with two groups of users. The study result proves that users find our approach to be helpful for visually exploring datasets. The users also had many comments and suggestions for the CBDR approach as well as for visual clutter reduction in general. The content and result of the user study are included in this thesis.

Aproximación a los componentes visuales y construcción de personajes en el cine animado / Approximation to the visual components and character building in Animated CinemaManrique Chávez, Victorina María Paz 08 July 2020 (has links)
The visual structure is a fundamental element that a filmmaker has to considerate when is building the film product. In this sense, the visual structure; which consists of basic visual components, among which are the space, the line, the shape, the tone and the color; has definitely given personality and style to many films based on the director’s criteria, like Wes Anderson, previously handles with a definite style. This research analyzes precisely the visual components that make up the visual structure with which the characters of "Fantastic Mr. Fox" (2009) and "Isle of Dogs" (2018) are generating an empathetic relationship with the spectator. For this purpose, an analysis was made of the main characters of these films, as well as the visual aspects, based on 27 frames of these films, in which it was found that the characters have conflicts originated by themselves completely a lack of knowledge of their own virtues and defects. In this way, by relating to their environment, they seek acceptance from other characters to feel that they are considered important by someone else. It was also identified that visually, in most cases, one manages to reassert the feelings and characteristics that define the characters based on the visual components that Anderson poses.

From Stagecoach to Fox News Live: unconscious audiovisual structures in western cinema present on television representationSilva, Alex Ricardo Chagas Vieira 30 March 2007 (has links)
The identification and exploitation of some of the audio-visual languages fundamental elements, by studying its origins, will allow us to suggest that these same remains are still present in the so-called Western cultural mode of news production nowadays. Probably, since the silent motion pictures, some visual imagery have been created and, therefore, in the 1930s, when finally there were technical possibilities to film a motion-picture, synchronize it with a sound stripe and exhibit it to large audiences, these patterns have been consolidated as audio-visual structures, which still endure, in essence, in news programming production at the beginning of this century. The analysis of a movie from 1930s golden period, when the filmic narrative had already solidified the use of sounds and images as commodities of its own language the western Stagecoach(1939) , it will function as a basis for the research carried out, later on, with Fox News Live, which is broadcasted by Fox News Channel; this investigation will permit the verification of some audio-visual constructions in cinema, besides its resulting permanence as sound-imagery structures in television, consequently, unconscious structures of discourse.

Previous issue date: 2013-03-19 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Portals web content evolved significantly since the early popularization of the Web. One major
example where we can see this fact is the UOL portal, which became a digital environment
multimedia, very complex due the amount of information circulating in their spaces, could
hamper the navigation process of users. The study explains to readers and users of Internet
portals, as all the existing content in a single environment can be presented with quality not only
visual, but also in its organizational structure, capable of being navigable for any user who wants
to move in that space, meeting the expectations and interests of various sailors who travel the
UOL portal. The paper makes a study that understands how you can as a portal UOL, with lots of
information and content that enables several escape routes be structured without the user being
lost or not returned. For this, we created a framework for research based on usability, navigability
and in the study of the interface, giving us the ability to look deeper into the visual structure,
organization, and form the portal, which makes us realize that even in digital spaces without
major difficulties of navigation, pages and subsites of our object of study have a technical
complexity, because the technological resources used by it, so that you can provide content and
services the most diverse, with the three main devices used to navigate: personal computers,
tablets and smartphones. But with the established visual structure, since the planning process of
the portal, UOL can provides simple navigation, clear and efficient user wishing to circulate their
spaces, even if at times, vanishing points are found in the process navigation.
navegar: computadores pessoais, tablets e smartphones.
