Developing A Secure Web Service for License Management in StruSoft

Russell, Dave Alfanso January 2005 (has links)
<p>As software increases in complexity and relies more on Internet and Web technology, the challenge of enabling interaction and communication between loosely coupled applications becomes increasingly vital. Distributed computing presents challenges to loosely coupled applications that require means with which to interact and communicate. There exist technologies that are aimed at solving these problems; Web service is one such technology. Web service is a relatively new and rapidly maturing technology in the area of distributed computing; it offers a standards-based way to exchange information in an interoperable manner. This thesis is done in partnership with StruSoft and attempts to provide a solution to their problem of distributed computing, by using Web service technology. The paper looks at distributed systems and various solutions to the problems associated with distributed computing. A comprehensive insight into Web service technology is provided, along with rationale as to why it is chosen for the project. In addition, there are guidelines as to how the necessary components of Web service are installed. Development of License Management Software is also a part of this thesis. The software offers a means with which to store and maintain data about customers and their licenses. Security is a major focus of this paper and thus extensively mentioned throughout. A detailedexplanation of computer security is presented, along with the necessary configurations that are needed to make the Web service and the License Management Software more secure.</p>

An Indexation and Discovery Architecture for Semantic Web Services and its Application in Bioinformatics

Yu, Liyang 09 June 2006 (has links)
Recently much research effort has been devoted to the discovery of relevant Web services. It is widely recognized that adding semantics to service description is the solution to this challenge. Web services with explicit semantic annotation are called Semantic Web Services (SWS). This research proposes an indexation and discovery architecture for SWS, together with a prototype application in the area of bioinformatics. In this approach, a SWS repository is created and maintained by crawling both ontology-oriented UDDI registries and Web sites that hosting SWS. For a given service request, the proposed system invokes the matching algorithm and a candidate set is returned with different degree of matching considered. This approach can add more flexibility to the current industry standards by offering more choices to both the service requesters and publishers. Also, the prototype developed in this research shows the value can be added by using SWS in application areas such as bioinformatics.

Semantic Service Discovery With Heuristic Relevance Calculation

Ozyonum, Muge 01 February 2010 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, a semantically aided web service and restful service search mechanism is presented that makes use of an ontology. The mechanism relates method names, input and output parameters for ontology guided matches and offers results with varying relevance corresponding to the matching degree. The mechanism is demonstrated using an experimental domain that is tourism and travel. An ontology is created to support a set of web services that exist in this domain.

An integrated methodology for creating composed Web/grid services

Tan, Koon Leai Larry January 2009 (has links)
This thesis presents an approach to design, specify, validate, verify, implement, and evaluate composed web/grid services. Web and grid services can be composed to create new services with complex behaviours. The BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) standard was created to enable the orchestration of web services, but there have also been investigation of its use for grid services. BPEL specifies the implementation of service composition but has no formal semantics; implementations are in practice checked by testing. Formal methods are used in general to define an abstract model of system behaviour that allows simulation and reasoning about properties. The approach can detect and reduce potentially costly errors at design time. CRESS (Communication Representation Employing Systematic Specification) is a domainindependent, graphical, abstract notation, and integrated toolset for developing composite web service. The original version of CRESS had automated support for formal specification in LOTOS (Language Of Temporal Ordering Specification), executing formal validation with MUSTARD (Multiple-Use Scenario Testing and Refusal Description), and implementing in BPEL4WS as the early version of BPEL standard. This thesis work has extended CRESS and its integrated tools to design, specify, validate, verify, implement, and evaluate composed web/grid services. The work has extended the CRESS notation to support a wider range of service compositions, and has applied it to grid services as a new domain. The thesis presents two new tools, CLOVE (CRESS Language-Oriented Verification Environment) and MINT (MUSTARD Interpreter), to respectively support formal verification and implementation testing. New work has also extended CRESS to automate implementation of composed services using the more recent BPEL standard WS-BPEL 2.0.

Ανακάλυψη web services σε συστήματα ομοτίμων (Peer- to- Peer)

Καλαποδάς, Γεώργιος 18 September 2007 (has links)

CWeb 2.0 Profile-Map: Ein Schema zur Beschreibung und Kategorisierung für Business-Cases im Corporate Web 2.0

Schachner, Werner, Stocker, Alexander, Tochtermann, Klaus 15 May 2014 (has links) (PDF)

Web services can be built upon pre-existing services available on the Internet by using composition languages. We propose a method to generate WS-BPEL processes from abstract specifications provided with high-level control-flow information. The proposed method allows the composition designer to concentrate on high-level specifi- cations, in order to increase productivity and generate specifications that are independent of specific web services. We consider service orchestrations, that is compositions where a central process coordinates all the operations of the application. The process of generating compositions is based on a rule rewriting algorithm, which has been extended to support basic control-flow information. We created a prototype of the extended refinement method and performed experiments over simple case studies / Os servi?os web s?o solu??es computacionais criadas de acordo com os princ?pios da Com- puta??o Orientada a Servi?os e disponibilizadas via Internet. No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 2340814 bytes, checksum: bdce9ccd956442015a53d57f06a00741 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-08-23 / Software Engineering is a discipline that encompasses all aspects of the production of a software system, from the early stages of the system specification to maintenance, when the system is already being used. A very interesting area in Software Engineering is software reuse, which impacts positively on reducing time, costs and risks in software development processes. Therefore, it can be stated that software reuse improves not only the software development process, but also the product itself. One of the main approaches for software reuse is service oriented development, which adopts the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm. In SOA, services represent a natural evolution of component-based development, and therefore can be defined as loosely coupled, reusable software components, that encapsulate discrete functionality, can be distributed and remotely accessed through coding. It is important to highlight that while SOA is an architectural paradigm for developing software systems, Web Services represent the most widely existing technology adopted to implement SOA exploring protocols based on Internet standards and on XML. With the growth of the market and the use of web services, the tendency is always increase the number of services available for assembly applications in different contexts, making impractical the task of manually selecting the services required to compose a software system. Consequently, one can state that the effort needed to select the required services tends to increase more and more, creating a problem with a large and complex search space, making it necessary the automation of the selection process based on metaheuristic search techniques. In this context, the proposed work aims to automate the web services selection process using techniques of Search-Based Software Engineering, in which the selection strategy is guided by structural and functional metrics that have the purpose of evaluating the similarity between the specifications and respective implementations of candidate services as well as their dependencies, thus reducing the effort of adaptation and integration of web services developed by different suppliers.
