O gênero Eucalyptus vem alcançando boa posição no mercado de madeira sólida, devido à sua alta produtividade em madeira de qualidade mecânica satisfatória, que redunda em grande disponibilidade de matéria prima para a construção civil. A atualização da norma brasileira para projetos de estruturas de madeira (NBR 7190/97), introduziu modificações importantes como a proposição de classes de resistência para as propriedades da madeira, metodologias melhores fundamentadas para execução de ensaios de caracterização e condições mais concretas de verificação da segurança das estruturas quanto aos seus estados limites. No presente trabalho foram utilizados doze lotes de madeira serrada de eucalipto comercializadas na forma de vigas, onde foram estudadas as propriedades físicas e mecânicas da madeira para a classificação dos lotes nas classes de resistência propostas pela norma. Para a densidade básica e densidade aparente, os lotes se enquadraram nas quatro classes indicadas na norma NBR 7190/97 (C20, C30, C40 e C60). Para resistência à compressão paralela às fibras cinco lotes qualificaram-se na classe C40 e sete lotes na classe superior C60. Em relação ao módulo de elasticidade na compressão paralela às fibras um lote se enquadrou na classe inferior C20, 2 lotes na classe C30, seis lotes na classe C40 e três na classe C60. Para a resistência ao cisalhamento um lote se enquadrou na classe C40 e os demais na classe C60. Pôde-se verificar que os lotes de madeira serrada não podem ser diretamente classificados em uma mesma classe de resistência por todas as mecânicas da madeira. / The Eucalyptus genus has been reaching good position in the solid wood market due to its high productivity in wood of satisfactory mechanical quality, providing great availability for the building construction. The up date of the Brazilian Norm for projects of wood structures (NBR 7190/97), has introduced important modifications as the proposition of resistance grades for the properties of the wood, better methodologies for permitting the wood characterization and more concrete conditions to evaluate the structures safety in relation to its limit conditions. In the present work twelve lots of sawn wood of eucalyptus marketed in the form of beams were used for studying physical and mechanical properties of wood in order to classify the lots in the grade classes of mechanical quality proposed by the norm. It was verified that a set of wood cannot be directly classified into the same quality class according to all wood characteristics.

Previous issue date: 2014-05-12 / FAPEAM - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas / The use of composite wood beams, formed by the union of small parts , has gained importance in the structural timber industry in Brazil , mainly due to the scarcity of large solid pieces. This study aimed to theoretical and experimental study of composite laminated beams using two species of Amazonian woods, going against the various theories that MLC must be built with low-density woods with a single species. The experimental verification of theoretical models to study was made by means of bending tests on prototype composed of two (2) species Itaúba (Mezilaurus itaúba) and Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata (Aub). Wil) beams. In conclusion , it consists of more than one wood species of the Amazon beams can be produced , provided that take into account the similarity of the physical properties of the species to use the appropriate adhesive as was verified in this study . / A utilização de vigas compostas de madeira, formadas pela união de peças de pequenas dimensões, vem alcançando importância no setor de estruturas de madeira do Brasil, principalmente em virtude da escassez de peças sólidas de grandes dimensões. Este trabalho teve como objetivo o estudo teórico e experimental de vigas laminadas composta utilizando duas espécies de madeiras Amazônica, indo de encontro a várias teorias de que MLC deve ser construídas com madeiras de baixa densidade com uma única espécie. A aferição experimental dos modelos teóricos com estudo foi feita por meio de ensaios de flexão em protótipos de vigas compostas por duas (2) espécies Itaúba (Mezilaurus itaúba) e Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata (Aubl). Wil). Concluindo, que vigas composta com mais de uma espécies de madeira da Amazônica pode ser produzida, desde que, levem em consideração a similaridade das propriedades física das espécies para uso do adesivo adequado como foi verificado nesta pesquisa.

Design of Modularized Data Center with a Wooden Construction / Design av modulariserade datacenter med en träkonstruktionGille, Marika January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the possibility to build a modular data center in wood. The goals is to investigate how to build data centers using building system modules, making it easier to build more flexible data centers and expand the business later on. Investigations have been conducted to find out advantages and disadvantages for using wood in a modularized data center structure. The investigation also includes analysing the moistures effect on the material and if there are any other advantages than environmental benefits in using wood as a building material. A literature study were conducted to examine where research already have been conducted and how those studies can be applicable to this thesis. Although the ICT sector is a rapidly growing industry little research has been published in regards to how to build a data center. Most published information involves electric and cooling, not measurements of the building and how materials is affected by the special climate in a data center. As a complement to the little research interviews were conducted and site visits were made. Interviews were conducted with Hydro66, RISE SICS North, Sunet and Swedish modules, whilst site visits were made at Hydro66, RISE SICS North, Sunet and Facebook. As a result of these studies, limitations were identified with regards to maximum and minimum measurements for the building system and service spaces in a data center. These limitations were used as an input when designing a construction proposal using stated building systems and a design proposal for a data center. During the study, access have been granted to measurements of temperature and humidity for the in- and outgoing air of the Hydro66 data center. These measurements have been analyzed with the facts about HVAC systems and the climates effect on wood, for example in regards to strength and stability. This analysis has shown that more data needs to be collected during the winter and that further analysis needs to be conducted, to beable to draw conclusions if the indoor climate of a data center has an effect on the wooden structure. A design proposal for a data center have been produced with regards to the information gathered by the litterature and empirical studies. The proposal were designed to show how the information could be implemented. The result have increased the understanding on how to build data center buildings in wood and how this type of buildings could be made more flexible towards future changes through modularization.

A Wavelet Packet Based Sifting Process and Its Application for Structural Health MonitoringShinde, Abhijeet Dipak 24 August 2004 (has links)
"In this work an innovative wavelet packet based sifting process for signal decomposition has been developed and its application for health monitoring of time-varying structures is presented. With the proposed sifting process, a signal can be decomposed into its mono-frequency components by examining the energy content in the wavelet packet components of a signal, and imposing certain decomposition criteria. The method is illustrated for simulation data of a linear three degree-of-freedom spring-mass-damper system and the results are compared with those obtained using the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method. Both methods provide good approximations, as compared with the exact solution for modal responses from a conventional modal analysis. Incorporated with the classical Hilbert transform, the proposed sifting process may be effectively used for structural health monitoring by monitoring instantaneous modal parameters of the structure for both, cases of abrupt structural stiffness loss and progressive stiffness degradation. The effectiveness of this method for practical application is evaluated by applying the methodology for experimental data and the results obtained matched with the field observations. The proposed methodology has shown better results in a comparison study which is done to evaluate performance of the proposed approach with other available SHM techniques, namely EMD technique and Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) method, for cases characterized by different damage scenarios and noise conditions."

The objective of this study is to present information on the optimization of plane truss
wooden structure using the method of genetic algorithms. All assessments are made by the
computer program called Optimization Structures Plane (OTP). It was also used the
computer program GESTRUT for determining forces and displacement. It was evaluated
pitched trusses, with the goal of finding the best geometrical configuration in terms of the
distribution of members and inclination between chords. It was evaluated three study cases
of trusses with different configurations in relation to the length/width of the area covered. / O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar informações sobre a otimização de estruturas planas
de madeira do tipo treliçado utilizando o método dos algoritmos genéticos. Todas as
avaliações são feitas por meio do programa computacional denominado Otimização de
Estruturas Planas (OTP). Também foi usado o programa computacional GESTRUT para a
determinação de esforços e deslocamentos em estruturas. São avaliadas estruturas do tipo
telhado duas águas, com o objetivo de encontrar a melhor configuração geométrica em
termos da distribuição de barras e a inclinação entre banzos. Foram avaliados três casos de
estruturas treliçadas com diferentes configurações em relação ao comprimento/largura da
