Slovák, Ľuboš January 2015 (has links) This thesis is an attempt to reflect on the theme of phenomena and sensuous world in the context of environmentalism. It deals with the condemnation of phenomena in the modern era science and especially in the contemporary neo-Darwinian biology, and with various attempts at rehabilitation of sensory perception as a relevant way of relating to the world in biology (Adolf Portmann, Hans Driesch) and philosophy (phenomenology, particularly Maurice Merleau-Ponty). The main subject of the thesis is the eco- phenomenology of David Abram and a comparison of his approach with the one held by contemporary biology. Based on this comparison it is argued in what manner may the thoughts of David Abram, and the effort to rehabilitate phenomena in general, be of benefit to the environmental discourse, particularly in terms of forming an original epistemology and ontology and concerning the ethical motivations. 6	Récits et écologies :pratique de l'attention polyphonique Kohner, Vanessa 07 September 2018 (has links) (PDF) La thèse défendue dans le présent travail consiste à montrer qu’il est possible de faire émerger, au départ de certains récits, des concepts, affects, percepts et actions utiles à l’écologie entendue dans la triple acceptation forgée par Félix Guattari, à savoir subjective, sociale et environnementale. Là où l’ampleur des problématiques écologiques pourrait sidérer au point d’anesthésier notre être-au-monde, le pari de ma recherche est qu’il existe un autre chemin qui consiste à « esthésier », à éveiller les sens – dans une acception triple du terme, à savoir charnelle, mais aussi liée à la direction géographique et à la cohérence intellectuelle. Aborder les mutations écologiques par le moyen de récits et d’histoires qui engagent les émotions, c’est opter pour une approche qui fasse sentir ce dont il est question. En explorant les affects qui nous saisissent dès lors qu’il est question de ravages écologiques, on se donne des outils pour façonner d’autres histoires.J’ai choisi de travailler à partir de quatre récits :Vendredi où les limbes du Pacifique de Michel Tournier, L’homme qui plantait des arbres de Jean Giono, Moi, Christiane F, 13 ans, droguée, prostituée…, biographie de Christiane Felscherinow par les journalistes Kai Hermann et Horst Rieck, et Le Petit Prince d’Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. La lecture de ces quatre récits se voit enrichie au contact notamment des pensées de Gilles Deleuze et Félix Guattari, David Abram, Starhawk, Aldo Léopold, Nietzsche, ainsi bien sûr que de mon imagination et de mes questions. Cette lecture permet de faire surgir des « entités actives » ou des « présences activantes » sensibles, affectives, conceptuelles qui pourraient, désormais, incarner, cristalliser, des façons d'être, de ressentir, de faire sentir, de penser et d'agir dans les domaines et sur les terrains de l’écologie.Le travail ici proposé relève donc d’une certaine « pratique » écopoétique qui permet de se situer en tenant compte/conte des mondes qui nous entourent, et active certaines manières d'interroger, de problématiser, d'être au monde, à soi, à son corps et aux autres. De quelles voix ces mondes sont-ils peuplés, habités ?Comment composer avec eux un chant vital individuel et collectif, joyeux et responsable ?Ec(h)opoét(h)iser demande en effet non seulement de cultiver une attention polyphonique à ce qui compose un oikos, un habitat, une situation écologique, mais invite aussi à créer une situation meilleure, respectueuse des êtres avec lesquels il s’agit de partager la terre. J'ai d'abord voulu rendre compte des valeurs qui marquent l'époque que nous vivons, aux plans philosophique et esthétique. Le champ de la connaissance a fait des bonds importants depuis la Renaissance et le Siècle des Lumières. La modernité a élargi les moyens d'analyse et de synthèse des phénomènes du monde. Récemment, la postmodernité semble cependant mettre en doute les expérimentations modernistes lorsqu'elle propose la multiplication des instruments de connaissance. En deuxième étape, j'ai voulu analyser l'esprit qui sous-tend le travail sculptural du post-formalisme américain et par la suite brosser un tableau historique de la situation de la sculpture au Québec. This is examined from linguistic, anthropological and theological vantage point of oral theory (M. Jousse, M. Parry, A. Lord, W. Ong, E. Havelock, J. Assmann, D. Abram, C. Geertz, T. Pettitt, J. 10	Rethinking Landscape Interpretation: Form, Function, and Meaning of the Garfield Farm, 1876-1905 Curtin, Abby January 2014 (has links) Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / The landscape of James A. Garfield’s Mentor, Ohio home (now preserved at James A. Garfield National Historic Site) contains multiple layers of historical meanings and values. The landscape as portrayed in political biographies, political cartoons, and other ephemera during Garfield’s 1880 presidential campaign reveals the existence of the dual cultural values of agrarian tradition and agricultural progress in the late nineteenth century. Although Garfield did not depend on farming exclusively for his livelihood, he, like many agriculturalists of this era participated in a process of mediation between these dual values. The function of the landscape of Garfield’s farm between 1876 and 1880 is a reflection of this process of mediation. After President Garfield’s assassination in 1881, his wife and children returned to their Mentor home. Between 1885 and c. 1905, Garfield’s widow Lucretia made numerous changes to the agricultural landscape, facilitating the evolution of the home from farm to country estate. Despite the rich history of this landscape, its cultural complexity and evolution over time makes it difficult to interpret for public audiences. Additionally, the landscape is currently interpreted exclusively through indoor museum exhibits and outdoor wayside panels, two formats with severe limitations. I propose the integration of deep mapping into interpretation at James A. Garfield National historic site in order to more effectively represent the multi-layered qualities of its historic landscape.
