Traffic Engineering in a Bluetooth Piconet

Dahlberg, Anders January 2002 (has links)
The Bluetooth technology is still in an early stage of development. Much more research can and will be done before the performance of Bluetooth reaches its peak. During the recent years, ideas to integrate Bluetooth units in larger networks have arose, with the Bluetooth unit in the role as access point to the network. This behavior opens up for new possibilities but also increases the requirements on performance. In this thesis the main topic is improvement of piconet performance. The piconet, with the Master unit as access point, is studied from a teletraffic engineering point of view. Different performance attributes and behaviors have been found and investigated. With the outcome of these investigations in mind, new and more efficient policies and algorithms are proposed for both data and voice. A policy increasing the utilization of available bandwidth in a piconet is presented. Furthermore, a proposal is presented where multiple Bluetooth units are used in an efficient manner to support voice calls. The proposed solution does also enable creation of simple teletraffic models to be used for dimensioning. / Phone: +46709138850

Zařízení pro automatické měření voltampérových charakteristik / Device for automatic measurement of volt-ampere characteristics

Ondráček, Petr January 2020 (has links)
The Master's thesis discusses the design and realization of electronic meter of volt-ampere characteristics using Wifi module ESP32. The device is designed to be able to measure the characteristic in the voltage range of +/- 20 V and current range of +/- 200 mA. The device is controlled by web interface. The user is able to connect to it with for example his or her smartphone. This interface enables the user to configure various parameters, including the range of measurement and the power restriction. Furthermore, it is possible to graphically display the measured characteristic and export the data. To be independent on the outer network, the ESP32 is operated as an access point, which is creating a new simple network without the internet connection. In the Master's thesis, the principle of voltage and current measurement is explained theoretically, the circuit connection of device and the printed circuit board are designed and the cover of the device is modeled. Also the process of creating the device according to the design is described and the cover of the device is printed on 3D printer. After that, the control program is designed, described and uploaded into the resulting device. Finally, the functionality of the device is tested by measuring the volt-ampere characteristics of a few components.

WOK : A Simulation Model for DFS and Link Adaptation in IEEE 802.11a WLAN / WOK : en simuleringsmodell för DFS och länkadaption i IEEE 802.11a WLAN

Janson, Magnus, Karlsson, Magnus January 2004 (has links)

With the 1999 introduction of IEEE 802.11b, the 2.4 GHz Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) standard, the WLAN market finally began to experience the growth levels that had been expected for so long. Now, 5 GHz solutions, with the IEEE 802.11a standard leading the way, offer higher throughput and more efficient use of the spectrum. Just as the 2.4 GHz band, the 5 GHz band is unlicensed. A common concern to all unlicensed bands is interference between devices using the spectrum. Furthermore, in the 5 GHz band, WLAN cells can interfere with radar systems operating at the same frequencies.

This report describes a software model, WOK, suitable for simulations of IEEE 802.11a WLANs operating in various environments and under various ambient conditions. The WOK model can be configured extensively with respect to topology, traffic behavior, channel models, signal attenuation, interference sources and radar systems.

Further, the concepts of Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and link adaptation are explored in the context of the IEEE 802.11a standard. DFS aims to avoid channels occupied by radar systems and link adaptation aims to maximize the throughput based on current ambient conditions. A DFS algorithm and a link adaptation algorithm are implemented at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer and evaluated using the WOK model.

Minimalizace vlivu rušení na bezdrátovou síť / Minimizing the effect of interference on wireless network

Doležal, Jan January 2008 (has links)
This thesis is concerned the technology with technologies of transfer through wireless devices. It is about possibilities of optimization of transfer in wireless net, especially of the reduction of interference influence. The first part is about theory and the standards development of wireless technology. There are methods and principles used in wireless technologies. The second part is a practical measuring and testing of an internal wireless net, with the emphasis being on the source of interference influence. Measuring was focused on interference between access points and was not about meteorological influence. It continues with theory and testing of interference of the microwave oven in our wireless net. Then, it is a practical demonstration of interference in an external environment. There are practical examples of interference between different providers’ nets on the same area and solutions to prevent or to cancel this interference. In next part of work the wireless net is parsed and described in a given territory. Here is described the way how to precede the reciprocal interference and eventually how this mutual disturbance suppress. Consequently, our net is optimized for customer growth and for today’s options of newer and more powerful components for wireless transfer. Finally there are two laboratory tasks. The first one is about practical measuring and testing of wireless net’s parameters and the second one is about simulation of wireless networks in the Opnet program.
