Oliveira, Marcelo Santana 16 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Franco Giuseppe Dedini / Dissertação (mestrado profissional) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-16T15:37:35Z (GMT). The Diesel engine is the primary source of power for commercial vehicles (light or heavy), so it should be known, comprehensively, the performance as a function of speed and the operating conditions that required. Construction of theoretical model calibrated to experimental measurements of a Diesel engine, will test and verify the influence of engine accessories in your performance. The model should be able to respond similarly to the real system, the mechanical effects and / or changes of the control system of the engine. One key aspect of this work is to propose a testing methodology and survey parameters, and influential aspects for obtaining values of specific fuel consumption. The engine operates usually transient speeds and loads. Therefore, the engine power must always match the operation of the vehicle. The fuel consumption of vehicles is directly related to the consumption of energy that is implicit in the velocity or cycle at which the engine is subjected. The emphasis of this work is the influence of accessories in specific fuel consumption. The engine is treated as a closed system, where the control parameters and noise entering the system results in torque, power and specific fuel consumption primarily dependent on the angular velocity of the same. As the variation in the fittings alter these relationships, as they do and how it may be possible to absorb these changes in support of vehicular performance are the main scope of this dissertation / Mestrado / Dinâmica / Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica

Silva, Márcio de Puccio 18 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Geilson Loureiro / Dissertação (mestrado profissional) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-18T21:49:50Z (GMT). This dissertation is about the engineering of a product subject to successive evolution. The product in this case is an exterior rearview mirror assembly for vehicle. The engineering process evolves from the engineering design of an assembly set to a systems engineering process that takes into consideration other life cycle processes. Examples of these other life cycle processes are engineering design, testing and manufacturing. In order to take into consideration these other life cycle processes, the engineering process follows a concurrent engineering approach. Along its evolution, stakeholders, requirements, functionalities and the architecture of the exterior rearview mirror assembly have changed. Up to 1980, the design was oriented to meet market regulations. From there onwards, customer satisfaction started to matter. Nowadays, the challenge is to develop the product, from the outset, taking into consideration all of its life cycle processes, up to disposal, taking into consideration the materials that can be easily recyclable. This dissertation reports the steps necessary to reduce the weight of the external mirrors by using materials with lower density. However, the change in the material, affects resistance to vibration and intemperism. Therefore changes in design and in the manufacturing process are required. In conclusion, future evolution of products such as the exterior mirror needs to consider from the outset of product development the use of systems engineering and concurrent engineering approaches / Mestrado / Projetos / Mestre em Engenharia Automobilistica

Exquisite corpse : Exploring the methods of surrealism to challenge the hierarchies of body, dress and accessories

Larsson, Josefin January 2017 (has links)
Just as the surrealistic movement challenged our perception of reality, the present work applies surrealistic methods to challenge our preconceived hierarchies between body, dress, and accessory. Adding to past surrealistic work in fashion design, the present work does not only strive to create surrealistic expressions, but to enhance the creative process through surrealistic methods. Three surrealistic methods were tested: Entopic Graphomani, Frottage, and Exquisite Corpse. The methods ability to challenge hierarchies between body, dress, and accessory was assessed through their ability to result in an element of surprise. For the present work, Exquisite Corpse had the greatest potential. By using participant observation and an adapted version of Exquisite Corpse seven looks were developed. The present work concludes that the surrealistic methods can by used not only to develop surrealistic expressions, but also to enhance the creative process within fashion design.

This research work is based on a business proposal in the musical accessories industry aimed at people who play guitar and bass, and who are between socioeconomic levels A, B and C in Lima Metropolitana. To investigate and validate many hypothesis, we have created “Mallku”, a business that designs one of the best known products in the industry, the pedalboard. This accessory works by helping organize the pedals that guitar and bass players use, and allows to save time when the users need to record or give a concert. From the first investigations, it was validated that there is great potential to develop this product, that the consumer values handmade items, and that appreciates that wood is used as the main input. On the other hand, it was possible to validate the acceptance of the product through sales made in social networks, selling these accessories to members of bands that are growing and that are already relevant to the local scene. Luxury value perceptions that drive South African female consumers' purchase intent for luxury exotic leather accesories

Scheepers, Sunette January 2016 (has links)
The study investigated South African female consumers' purchase intent for luxury exotic leather accessories, with specific reference to exotic crocodile leather, as well as their perceived values of luxury exotic leather products and brands. A survey was conducted across South Africa that included representation of the following ethnic groups: African, White, Coloured, Asian and Indian. All the individuals surveyed were female. Consulta Research, a consumer research company, assisted the research study in collecting data. Data was collected by means of a non-probability convenient sampling method. Consulta Research distributed an online questionnaire to female participants on their database. Three hundred and thirty seven (337) usable questionnaires were completed and returned. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, Spearman's correlation analysis and Cohen's d correlation analysis. All of the demographic and lifestyle characteristics were useful in describing the South African female consumer. The findings indicated that the majority of the respondents were not willing to spend market-related prices for genuine crocodile leather accessories. The study confirmed that luxury value perceptions may include five dimensions that are distinguished in literature, namely Social, Individual gifts, Individual pleasure, Financial, and Functional value perceptions. Functional value perceptions were found to be more important to South African respondents, although previous studies in other countries have shown that Social and Individual value perceptions are more important. According to the literature presented in the study, it was confirmed that purchasing intent is part of the decision-making process, since intention is evident in an individual's readiness to perform a given behaviour. The findings showed that South African female respondents have a weak Purchasing intent for exotic crocodile leather accessories. The study, however, also showed that in the future at some point a substantial percentage of respondents might buy (24.00% + 18.60% + 20.70%), have the intention to buy (23.40% + 17.50% + 21.30%) and have an interest to buy (23.10% + 17.80% + 18.90%) an exotic crocodile leather accessory. A high practical significance was also found for the correlation between Purchasing intent and Functional value perceptions. This might be an indicator of the important role that functionality would play in respondents' final decision to buy or not buy an exotic crocodile leather accessory. This has implications for industry stakeholders because Functional value perceptions, according to the study, can be described as superior quality, quality assurance, high quality standards and substantive attributes and performance factors. Therefore industry stakeholders within the luxury exotic crocodile leather industry, be it suppliers, manufacturers, breeders, farmers, retailers or marketers, should take these consumer values into consideration in order to maximise the ultimate value delivered by the supply chain. Various recommendations are made based on the findings of this study, to either expand or build onto this existing research. Topics related to luxury exotic crocodile leather accessories and luxury consumers in South Africa can definitely be explored further to fill the current gap in knowledge in this field. / Dissertation (MConsumer Science)--University of Pretoria, 2016. / Consumer Science / MConsumer Science / Unrestricted
