The population all around the world is growing old quickly, a fact which challenges society to think attractive strategies to guide seniors to the quality of life. On the other hand there is an expansion and popularization of technologies available on market like computers, tablets, smart phones, smart televisions, etc., which means, different devices that exhibit Web content. In this context, the application Active Aging TV (EATV) offers resources for seniors to take control in maintaining their quality of life during aging process, and it is based on reports about active aging by WHO, and in the educational gerontology and in the guidelines for designing applications to the elderly. Its content consists of information on active and healthy aging, for this purpose, informative videos are employed based on the behavioral determinants proposed by WHO. EATV also provides access to information about support groups, and pages of interest to seniors. EATV was validated using a qualitative and quantitative approach in a sample of 12 elderly subjects over a period of four months. During the data collection we used questionnaires recognized in their respective fields and they were available in EATV; both Journal and Forum tools of Brazilian LMS ROODA, and individual semi structured interviews. EATV is in line with health education, which supports combinations of learning experiences that facilitate (predispose, enable and reinforce) behavioral measures taken by a person, group or community to achieve a purposeful and beneficial effect on their own health. Thus, as a contribution, we can mention the development of an application planned for the context of t-learning (EATV) and a course (Quality of Life) who used it to promote active aging and encouraging healthy behaviors suggested to grow old maintaining the quality of life.

With the increase of elderly population in the last decades and the popularization of homecare health services, new technologies were created to increase the use of these services for elderly people. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), much of the care that individuals need can be provided by themselves, i.e., their involvement and conscientiousness in the decision-making process results in improvement in health and increase in quality of life. Based on that, this study aims to investigate how a health management system can be used to promote some habit changes in elderly regarding their health and aims to answer which behavior changes related to the quality of life can be promoted by such technology. In order to accomplish that, we present some information related to chronic diseases, especially hypertension, diabetes mellitus and obesity. Besides, we address aspects related to elderly types, profiles of elderly epidemiology worldwide, elderly rights, the "elderly being" in society and the elderly education. Important to note that the theoretical foundation was based on authors such as Jacques Delors, Jack Mezirow, Vitoria Kachar and Paulo Freire, among others. To conduct this research, we developed and used a health monitoring and education system called i-Care. The research approach was qualitative and quantitative. The sample, chosen by convenience, included five seniors aged 60 to 85 years who achieved satisfactory results both in relation to the subjective aspects of the research as well as the objective parameters monitored in the patients.

Vývoj konceptu aktivního stárnutí v České republice v letech 2000-2016 / Development of the active aging concept in the Czech Republic in 2000-2016Sluková, Kristýna January 2018 (has links)
Active aging is a frequently discussed issue in recent years due to the demographic aging of the population. The aim of this thesis is to map the development of the concept of active aging from its origin to the present (2000-2016). To meet the objectives there were done expert interviews and analysis of strategic documents and national action plans issued in a defined period. This thesis focuses on the development of the concept of active aging, specifically in the areas of education, employment, healthy aging and personal development. It turns out that the most important area of active aging is education that significantly affects other areas such as interest activities, longer working lives, engaging in social and cultural activities. Implementation of the concept of active aging takes place at several levels, at social level, at an individual level, or interconnection of these levels (multidimensional concept). The work is therefore focused on examining whether the concept of active aging in the Czech Republic is perceived rather as a tool for improving the quality of life of the senior, or whether it can be used as a tool to mitigate the effects of demographic aging. The work also shows that the development of active aging also affects how seniors are perceived in society (among other things)....

"Ani mladí, ani staří" - případová studie aktivního stárnutí ve vybraném kulturním a vzdělávacím centru pro seniory v Praze / "Neither young, nor old" - A Case Study of Active Ageing in a Cultural and Educational Senior Center in PragueNováková, Pavla January 2021 (has links)
In my thesis, I deal with active ageing as a concept that is reflected in social policies. Active ageing presents activity as a key to satisfaction in older age and directs ageing population towards bigger independence and care about their health. I conducted my research in a chosen cultural and educational senior center in Prague. My main interest was how active ageing as an idea was transformed into social practice and how the activity was emphasized in the senior center and amongst its clients. The success of active ageing relates to culturally specific values as independence, activity, health, and self-realization (Lamb, 2020). Activity became a base for the hierarchization of activities, as well as people. The senior center which deals with the idea of active ageing is a safe space for its clients where activity represents a new social capital. However, this social capital has its limits as the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed. Keywords: active ageing, activity, social capital, vulnerability, senior center, neoliberalism

Jak se aktivní senioři vyrovnávají se stereotypizací / How active seniors cope with stereotypingPokorná, Kateřina January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis "How active seniors cope with stereotyping" presents the view of active senior citizens on the issue of ageism in Czech society. Research based on analysis of semi-structured interviews shows that active seniors do not consider inequality as a major problem, mainly because of their life optimism, which helps them overcome the stereotypes. Another important strategy the respondents - active seniors - apply is building/keeping a distance between themselves and the rest of the senior population, upon which they look the same way as the rest of Czech society does. The idea that they themselves do not match the prejudices, but the other seniors do, reinforces the stereotypical view of older people and also presents the active seniors as exceptional. The veneration of an active lifestyle in old age does not seem to be a direct effect of active aging trend, as all respondents had been very active throughout their whole life. Although active seniors present themselves as open to society, they prefer to spend their free time with other (active) people of their own age. Despite the rhetoric of assertiveness they are often passive, when confronted with discrimination, and try to sidestep an anticipated unpleasant situation.
