Intresse för digitalisering? : en undersökning av hur samhällets digitalisering framställs i Biblioteksbladet 2012–2016 / Interested in Digitalization? : a Survey of how the Digitalization of the Society is Reproduced in Biblioteksbladet 2012–2016Ash, Iris January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine how interested the library sector is in digitalization. In an attempt to study this, I have studied the articles in Biblioteksbladet from 2012–2016. My starting point was that digitalization affects the Swedish libraries and that the subject therefore would have a prominent role in the library magazine. The aim of this thesis is also to generate knowledge about how digitalization affects the retail sector and the library sector to visualize similarities and differences between how operators from private and public sector are affected. Three text analytical surveys were conducted: a survey inspired by quantitative content analysis, a survey inspired by qualitative content analysis and a qualitative comparative survey. The agenda-setting theory was used as an analytic tool to analyze the interest in digitalization. Theories from the business field and previous research were used in order to compare how digitalization affects the retail sector and the library sector. The results of this thesis show that about eight per cent of the articles in the magazine from 2012–2016 is about digitalization. The subject is mentioned in all of the studied magazines except one. This shows that digitalization is treated to a considerable extent in Biblioteksbladet, which is in line with my hypothesis. My study also shows that digitalization is presented as a challenge to the libraries in the majority of the articles. This means that digitalization tends to be evaluated negatively in the material. It proved to be difficult to draw clear conclusions about the library sector’s interest in digitalization using these methods. The interest that appears in Biblioteksbladet doesn’t necessarily reflect the rest of the library sector’s interest. Another result is that there are several similarities between how digitalization affects the retail sector and the library sector. This is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.

Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2017-08-18T12:14:21Z

Previous issue date: 2017-08-18 / The dissertation "Discovering the value of things around me": an experience of heritage education in the teaching of history aims to analyze how the local cultural heritage, located in and around peripheral schools, can be used as a source of knowledge For the strengthening of citizenship, enabling a dialogue between the teaching of History and the issues pertaining to Heritage Education. For the development of this research, the Patrimonial Education Project "Discovering the value of things around me" was built and developed from a series of activities based on the methodology of heritage literacy, with a group of the ninth year of the Municipal School of Elementary School Guerino Zugno, located in the district Planalto II, a peripheral district of the city of Caxias do Sul-RS. For the analysis of the results obtained, during the application of the workshops that integrate the project, support was sought in theoretical elements about heritage and memory, relating them to heritage education and its interconnection with the construction of identity and the strengthening of Citizenship, as well as the formation of large cities as spaces of constant transformation, but which bring in their patrimony elements of identity. To this end, I bring to the discussion the expansion of the topic of heritage education in schools, based on initiatives in conjunction with universities, fostering the approximation of academia and communities. The product derived from the research is found in a Notebook of Memories that exposes the course of the Project "Discovering the value of things around me".

As categorias de análise método/conteúdo e avaliação/objetivo nortearam categorias empíricas que constituíram o fazer, resignificaram o saber, qualificando a práxis pedagógica / Abstract: This research brings out different concepts and approaches regarding the Brazilian Education case and its historical development, following known international trends. It tries to reveal the field where Adult Education has been developed as well as the ideologically based concepts which has favoured ambiguous and misconstructed guidelines through Brazilian fundamental instruction. The survey which was developed in a chosen public high school in São Paulo state, restricted to Adult students, has tried to explain the relationship between teaching and learning and how it actually modifies the people who are engaged in a consequent action. The used methodological instruments were documental research and interview. The pedagogical labour was constructed according to every day practical activities as means of reaching well based knowledge achievements. Thus, the meaning of the intertwined fundamental elements of Education praxis, methodology/content and evaluation/goals, was reconsidered. / Doutorado / Politicas de Educação e Sistemas Educativos / Mestre em Educação

Toward a Humane Computerization of Society: The Role of Higher EducationCollins, Kenneth Dan 12 1900 (has links)
This heuristic and inductive study proposes a philosophy and models for a humanizing role for higher education in the computer age. The university's traditional role stands the risk of serious erosion through increasing emphasis on technological programs, particularly in the computer areas. The pressures from inside and outside the university threaten to produce increasing numbers of what have been termed "highly educated barbarians." Because computerization offers to be a pervasive and widely-felt influence on society, the university must see that its graduates—both the producers and the consumers of computerization—become humane, liberally educated persons; they must have technical excellence and also an understanding of the "system Man." The study calls for an enhanced new curriculum fostering a "new mind" for the computer age, encompassing quality of both technique and humanity in its students.

Die bydrae van die Randfonteinse Openbare Biblioteek tot die Heropbou- en OntwikkelingsprogramVan der Westhuizen, Ethel Helmine 20 August 2012 (has links)
M.Inf. / The Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) is an integrated, coherent socioeconomic policy framework that seeks to mobilise all people and resources towards the final eradication of apartheid and the building of a democratic, non-racial and non-sexist future. It is clearly indicated in this policy document that the government is serious about the delivery of services to all people in South Africa. However, mention of library services is made only casually in the document, with libraries and information never being referred to in the same context. Information workers generally are nevertheless convinced that there are many areas in which library and information services can make a significant contribution to the success of the RDP. The purpose of the study was to determine whether the public library, with specific reference to the Randfontein Public Library, can make a contribution to the success of the RDP of South Africa. Data collection methods used included a study of literature and personal interviews with role players. During the analysis phase a brief overview was given of the South African history. The influence of this on the development of public libraries was researched, with special emphasis on the impact of the historical policy of separate development on libraries. It was found that, in the pre democratic era (before the 1994 elections), the Randfontein Public Library had indeed been influenced by apartheid laws, which resulted in inferior library services being provided to the previously disadvantaged groups in Randfontein. A chronological description of the transformation process within the library and information profession, including the guidelines of the national policy document, was given. It was found that information workers generally were aware of their responsibility towards the development of the previously disadvantaged groups, but that they lacked implementation guidelines. A demographic analysis of the Randfontein Magisterial District and a situation analysis of current Randfontein Public Library services were made to determine whether it was possible to make a contribution to the RDP. To determine the services that should be rendered by the Randfontein Public Library typical public library objectives in relation to RDP objectives were investigated. Both sets of objectives place high priority on development and therefore it was concluded that specific functions were to be performed to reach the identified development objectives. A distinction was made between primary and secondary functions. For the purpose of this study primary functions were defined as those performed to contribute towards RDP objectives, while secondary functions were deemed as those complementing the afore mentioned. In conclusion it was found that the Randfontein Public Library can make a contribution towards the actualisation of the RDP through prioritising primary functions and establishing links with organisations and individuals in the Randfontein community.
