Martinek, Jan January 2013 (has links)
The subject of this master thesis is architectural study of sport center in Brno focused on football stadium for 17,500 spectators. Standard of Stadium comes on category 3 of UEFA, with some elements of the standard Elite category. It is a complex study on the possible development of the site as a sports and relaxation area with a primary sport function in the park. The architectural expression and volume solution of stadium is mainly based on the morphology of sports buildings, form follows function. The organic concept is clearly defined roofing mass on elliptic floor plan which mainly response to layout of the auditorium mainly in horizontal and vertical direction. Enabling quality of vision on the pitch is the basic idea of the concept. The construction follows the morphology of the terrain and longitudinal axis is oriented in a north-south direction with the main tribune to the west. The primary load-bearing structure is frame-storey reinforced concrete frame, covered steel truss construction jacketed with titan-zinc hexagonal templates.

Towards Efficient Convolutional Neural Architecture Design

Richter, Mats L. 10 May 2022 (has links)
The design and adjustment of convolutional neural network architectures is an opaque and mostly trial and error-driven process. The main reason for this is the lack of proper paradigms beyond general conventions for the development of neural networks architectures and lacking effective insights into the models that can be propagated back to design decision. In order for the task-specific design of deep learning solutions to become more efficient and goal-oriented, novel design strategies need to be developed that are founded on an understanding of convolutional neural network models. This work develops tools for the analysis of the inference process in trained neural network models. Based on these tools, characteristics of convolutional neural network models are identified that can be linked to inefficiencies in predictive and computational performance. Based on these insights, this work presents methods for effectively diagnosing these design faults before and during training with little computational overhead. These findings are empirically tested and demonstrated on architectures with sequential and multi-pathway structures, covering all the common types of convolutional neural network architectures used for classification. Furthermore, this work proposes simple optimization strategies that allow for goal-oriented and informed adjustment of the neural architecture, opening the potential for a less trial-and-error-driven design process.

Développement mécatronique et contrôle de l'exosquelette des membres inférieurs SOL0.1 / Mechatronic Development and Control of Lower Limb Exoskeleton SOL0.1

Fouz, Moustafa 28 June 2019 (has links)
The thesis' subject concerns the development of the control architecture and the trajectory generation for a scalable exoskeleton called SOL. The biomedical study outcomes revealed that the progressiveness of the disease could be solved by early and continuous rehabilitation throughout the growth. Thus, the importance of using an exoskeleton has a positive impact since it is used to provide locomotion and rehabilitation, at the same time. However, the current exoskeletons cannot be adapted to fit the continuous change of teenager biomechanics throughout his growth. Hence, the need for developing a scalable exoskeleton that can cope with the growing needs is still a challenging topic. Especially, the control architecture of such a scalable device was tackled in this thesis, in both hardware and software developments to incorporate the scalability features. Initiative steps have been passed towards the goal of achieving a scalable exoskeleton, by contributing in hardware developments that allowing further enhancements to be included throughout the advancement of the project. Firmware developments achieved have addressed the scalability needs in terms of control by considering the three hierarchical levels (which are: High, Middle, and low-levels of control). More specifically, a focus was dedicated to the generation of the gait reference trajectories for the growing population. Data were collected from healthy subjects wearing a passive exoskeleton to extract the proper joint trajectories, then, the data were processed to build a gait library to be deployed on the exoskeleton controller. Finally, by knowledge of the subject biomechanics, the controller is able to fetch the proper trajectories and inject the reference trajectories to the SOL's actuators. A first prototype of the exoskeleton is used to manifest the outcomes of the proposed Evolutionary Gait Generator (E.G.G.). As a first prototype, A free walking in air motion is tested, where the validation of the proposed hardware and control loops are demonstrated. Studying the exoskeletons' control responses against probable external disturbances and fail-safe scenarios are still future work mandatory before achieving first human-exoskeleton testing.

Arquitetura interativa: contextos, fundamentos e design / Interactive Architechture: contexts, fundamentals and design

Carneiro, Gabriela Pereira 25 April 2014 (has links)
This work delas with the relation between architecture and technology, from the observation that, the potential of digital information processing is spreading, not only through the adoption and use of computing devices by people, but also, their addition on objects and places. Within this context, this study provides basis for the understanding and design of interactive architecture, a type of physical space that compels the implementation of interactions, enabled by digital information processors. To achieve this, the work is divided into three parts: context, fundamentals and design. At the first part, Reading keys to understand instances with which the interactive architecture dialogues are provided. This type of spaces is understood, not as a consequence of technological development, but as part of a bigger, complex and connected context. Specifically, it adresses the interrelation between the ideological, technological and socio--spatial contexts. The second part, explores the topic of interactive architecture, as a result of technology introduction into the architectural product, and then, analyzes some aspects that give coherence to it as a specific form of intervention and expression. The third part, adresses the main issues that motivated this research, namely the design process of interactive architecture and the contributions that interaction design can provide this type of practice. Finally, nine parameters -- conceptual elements capable of being manipulated -- are outlined to guide the design of interactive architecture. Among other uses, the function of these parameters is to expand the vocabular and methods of architecture practice as a whole. Overall, the approach adopted is a means to explore and understand more about the technological world we live. The motivation to understand what is required to design the interactive architecture, that is, to include the technology in the final product, presupposes discussions that broaden the architectural field. It includes within it, the possibility and need for architects to act, beyond consumers of this technology, as active protagonists in their conformation.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Maria Fernanda Freire Luis.pdf: 12292494 bytes, checksum: 88b98796bf6b7cae863796fc00f0ea3c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-02-17 / The author s professional experience was the groundwork for this research. Its aim was to systematically investigate how rehabilitation projects are being made eligible for taxes incentives and exemptions by Brazilian Federal Cultural Laws (like the Rouanet law). In order to understand and explain how this process is developed, besides identifying the formal aspects of the role played by these incentive laws, this study presents a bibliographical review of some major concepts (such as historic heritage, tax exemption, restoration); consolidates the information upon the incentive laws and the necessary steps for its activation; and builds up a wide picture checking in which cases, among all the classified buildings in São Paulo with at least two different levels of protection, these fiscal incentives have been used for the revitalization of the cultural heritage. To illustrate this process it further examines three restoration works carried out in city of São Paulo, made available by the use of with funds originated from Brazilian State tax exemption incentives, with the support of private companies.
