Epidemiologie der Major Depression: Nehmen depressive Erkrankungen zu? / Epidemiology of major depression: increasing rates of depressive disorders?

Knäuper, Bärbel, Wittchen, Hans-Ulrich 23 October 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The findings of a number of recent major epidemiological studies in different countries document an increase in the cumulative lifetime prevalence estimates of major depression with each successively younger birth cohort and a decrease in the age of onset of this disorder (Cross-National Collaborative Group, 1992; Klerman & Weissman, 1989). At the same time comparably low depression estimates are found for the elderly. The paper presents an overview of the major studies conducted in this area in recent years. The validity of the findings, their significance for the aetiology of Major Depression and possible alternative explanations for the temporal trends are discussed. While much valid empirical evidence confirms the increase of Major Depression in recent birth cohorts, the low prevalence estimates in the elderly seen to represent at least in part an artifact of the research methodology.

Artefacts and bone patterns in stone ship settings on Gotland / Fynd och benmönster i skeppssättningar på Gotland

Gustavsson, Anders January 2012 (has links)
This thesis is an attempt to gather and discuss the archaeological and osteological results that has been found in stone ship settings on Gotland. The bone material from five ship settings, one stone setting and a cairn from the bronze age complex at Rannarve in Klinte parish on Gotland has been osteologically analysed during this study to further expand the osteological results that are available from ship settings on Gotland and try to interpret this site. The aim is to try to find what artefacts and bone patterns that can be distinguished from the material found within ship settings. What patterns can be seen in artefacts, age, sex and burial contexts that has been found in ship settings? What are the most common patterns?

Paddling as Place Arts-informed Inquiry into Experiential Learning of Place and Ecological Identity

Bailey, Erika J. M. 31 August 2012 (has links)
I explore how recreational canoeists develop sense of place developed and ecological identity through experience. The intersection between artefact and narrative is the entry-point of exploration of understandings of how recreational canoeists learn through experiences. There are three structural elements. A factional narrative arc of a canoe trip frames the work. Fragments of collective narratives: weave into this story and add richness and depth of experience. Participants’ interwoven narratives form the second element of this work. Finally, footnotes underpin this text to explain and support the research. They emerge to reflect the complexity of telling, and understanding, experience. This is a story of stories. This is a story of a trip that never happened. It holds real participants’ narratives based in lived experiences that shape this story. Narratives emerge between artefact and experience, between experience and ecological identity, between ecological identity and place, and between place and story.

Defining Cooking Activity Areas Of Burgaz Domestic Units In The 4th Century B.c.

Atici, Nadire 01 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)
The main aim of this study is to define the cooking activity spaces in Burgaz at 4th Century B.C. by carrying out statistical analysis of artefacts come from floor levels. In this study the distribution of artefacts and the associations of these distributions with architectural remains are examined rather than architectural features. In order to defining cooking activity spaces, the spatial distribution of cooking wares and utilities were taken into consideration. The distributions of cooking wares were tried to associate with ashy areas that can be related to cooking activities. In this study, the spatial analysis of archaeological artefacts assemblages that found in four well preserved houses from NE Sector revealed during the excavations of Burgaz (1993-2003) was carried out and the space usage, especially cooking spaces, were identified in these houses.

Modélisation de la détection de défauts et perception de la qualité d'images radiologiques / Modelling the detection of artifacts and the perception of the quality of radiological images

Acharian, Georges 09 October 2015 (has links)
Since the beginning of the 20th century, medical imaging has significantly been improved and represents now an essential mean for medical diagnosis. In the field of radiology, new digital detectors are gradually replacing the old film techniques allowing a better image. This thesis, prepared in collaboration between the company Trixell, manufacturer of X-ray detectors, and the laboratory Gipsa-Lab, is part of the framework of quality control of these detectors by image analysis. Biomedical applications involved by these devices are particularly sensitive, and the principle of “zero artifact” is required to ensure the quality of the product. Despite the various processings, some artifacts may be present in the images. This thesis focuses on the development of models that quantify the visibility of artifacts in concordance to human observation. Two complementary approaches are developed : the first one is based on psychophysical experiments and the second one is a modeling approach based on decision theory. In comparison to existent models, our model takes into account perception characteristics including saccades and eye fixation in image analysis : the visibility test is thus the product of local visibility tests calculated on the salient points of the image and assumed to be independent. The results show the interest of our approach, especially for static detectors. Based on the results and a final eye-tracking experiment, this thesis suggests perspectives taking into account other characteristics such as the number of eye fixations and their duration.

Karlsson, Filip, Emanuelsson, Alexander January 2018 (has links)
Automotive companies are increasingly investing in fast development processes and new advanced technology, resulting in less time being allocated to development that is more time consuming. The purpose of this thesis was to develop and evaluate an automatic verification system adapted for companies within the automotive industry with VT System as test environment and Jenkins as build server. Based on this purpose, three research questions were defined and then answered by first investigating which components an automatic verification system could contain. This was followed by the development of an automatic verification system and a corresponding architecture. Finally, the automatic verification system was evaluated through an experiment, with the purpose of investigating it’s time efficiency. To achieve the purpose of this thesis the method Design Science Research was used. The results from the experiment shows that there is no significant difference in time efficiency between the automatic verification system and a manual approach of the same task. The thesis highlights other aspects of the automatic verification system in which it can contribute. The result of the work contributes to different knowledge areas such as automated testing and fully automated systems, it does this by presenting an architecture for an automatic verification system and by presenting the result from the above-mentioned experiment.

La mobilisation des artefacts technologiques dans l’interaction : analyse linguistique et multimodale des pratiques professionnelles en centres d’appels / The mobilization of technological artefacts during the interaction : linguistic et multimodal analysis of professional practices in call centers

Colón de Carvajal, Isabelle 03 December 2010 (has links)
Our research focuses on the use of technology in interactions at work, particularly in the context of call centres. Our analyses draw on three theoretical domains: Ethnomethodology, Conversation Analysis and Workplace Studies. Our research seeks to contribute to current investigations on interactions mediated by technology in the workplace to reflect emerging practices of participants and to understand the complex sequential organization of interactions between councillor/operator and patient/user, based on the use of technological resources. The thesis comprises an introduction part and three analytical parts. The first part examines changes in participation framework taking into account the technological device as an anchor for the participant’s activity. For this, we distinguished two different configurations: i) the device is adjusted by the operator, or ii) the operator adjusts the device. The adjustment of the participation framework may be initiated through verbal or multimodal way, or by one or the other participant. In the second part, we analyze the integration of the screen as an interactional artefact in the participant’s activity. We noticed that they report oral information’s displayed on a screen, using introductory verbs such as "he said", which we found in the studies on reported speech in spoken interactions. We wanted to show the link between the course of action in which participants are engaged and the emergence of reported speech when referring to written messages that can transform the screens and the computer systems in “interactional agents”.The third part focuses on one type of call where a user call the service to solve a problem, and after verification by the operator, she notifies a status of his account. We noticed that the diagnosis activity reported by the operator is closely related to the user’s account information shown on the screen. These are data that allow the operator to diagnose and report the non-problematic status of the account.
