INVID Jönköping AB is an IT-consultant company. They are a part of the INVID-group that employ about 140 people and are represented in ten different locations in Sweden. INVIDs business areas include development and customization of web applications. The company has been developing a web publishing tool, INVID Publisher.NET. Small- and medium sized companies are offered hosting of a complete web portal/platform with Content Management System/Customer Relationship Management (CMS/CRM) functionality. Customers can manage the content published on web pages. They can choose among a set of templates were there are modules for example text/html and news. To find the right template for the purpose can be a difficult task for the customer. The purpose of our report is to an answer two main questions: • How to develop modules for DotNetNuke? • What is the foundation for the architecture and structure of DotNetNuke? Our goal was to create modules with the programming language VB.NET and server technology ASP.NET. We would take advantage of the DotNetNuke web application framework for developing modules that offer the customer a way to easily and effectively build new web pages with INVID Publisher .NET. The starting point for the module we have developed is based on analysis of former existing module that INVID AB was not comfortable with. We analysed and discussed the problems that the old module constituted. During the development of the module we also received feedback on our work from our tutor on INVID and other members of the development team. Our work has lead to a template module were the customer can create new web pages based on templates and also create new templates. INVID and we also consider our module to be graphically well designed. In the future it’s possible to further develop our module to a great extent because we have followed the principles of DotNetNuke and have written program code that is object-oriented, reusable, and extensible and is based on good programming principles and prominent design patterns. / INVID Jönköping AB är ett IT-konsult bolag. Kunder har möjlighet att själva påverka det innehåll som finns publicerat på webbsidor. De kan välja bland ett antal mallar där det finns moduler för bl.a. text/bild och nyheter. Att hitta rätt mall för ändamålet kan dock vara svårt för kunden. Vårt examensarbetes frågeställningar var följande: • Hur utvecklar man en modul för DotNetNuke? • Vad ligger till grund för DotNetNukes arkitektur och uppbyggnad? Vårt mål var att skapa en eller flera moduler med programmeringsspråket VB.NET och servertekniken ASP.NET. Vi avsedde också att lära oss webbapplikationsramverket DotNetNuke för att bygga modul(er) som erbjuder kunden att enkelt och effektivt bygga nya sidor i INVID Publisher .NET. Utgångspunkten för den modul som vi utvecklade bygger på analyser av tidigare existerande mallmodul som företaget (INVID AB) inte var nöjda med. Vi analyserade och diskuterade de problem som den gamla modulen medförde. Under utvecklingens gång fick vi feedback på vårt arbete från vår handledare på företaget och andra personer från utvecklingsavdelningen. Examensarbetet har resulterat i en fungerande mallmodul där kunden kan med lätthet skapa nya sidor utifrån mallar och även skapa nya mallar. Uppdragsgivaren och vi anser att modulen som utvecklats är mycket grafiskt väldesignad. I framtiden kan modulen vidareutvecklas framgångsfullt bl.a. tack vare att vi i vårt utvecklingsarbete har följt DotNetNuke-ramverket och dess principer strikt. Vi har även skrivit kod som bl.a. karakteriseras av att den är objektorienterad, återanvändbar, utbyggbar och bygger på goda programmeringsprinciper och framstående designmönster.

Detta arbete behandlar utvecklingen av en komplett webbsida för Grenna Museum innehållande en administrerbar webbutik. Implementationen är baserad på designoriginal från företaget Cargando. Baserat på denna design skapades grunden till webbsidan med hjälp av tekniker såsom XHTML och CSS. Därefter lades dynamiskt innehåll i text- såväl som bildformat till med hjälp av ASP.NET och språket C#. En databas skapades för att lagra textinnehåll såväl som produktinformation, båda vilka är möjliga att redigera i webbsidans administrationsgränssnitt. Resultatet av arbetet är en fullt fungerande webbapplikation med avancerade möjligheter till produktadministration. Arbetet har visat att verktygen som .NET-ramverket erbjuder varit lämpliga att nyttja för applikationer av denna typ. Webbsidan är redo att lanseras och samarbetet mellan författaren och uppdragsgivaren har fungerat mycket väl.

Axel Spetz AB är ett anrikt företag som driver en järnhandel i Falköping. Företaget har tidigare använt sig av marknadsföring i lokaltidningen men insåg fördelen med att använda Internet som verktyg. Deras idé var en ”Blocket.se”-liknande funktion på deras hemsida som skulle göra det möjligt för dem att marknadsföra artiklar. Formuleringen på deras behov och det som legat till grunden för detta projekt var: Hur tillverkar man en avancerad publiceringsfunktion som är lätt att använda? Inledningsvis gjordes en teoretisk studie inom områdena databaser, SQL, .NET och Visual Studio. Valet föll så här eftersom det var områden jag ville lära mig mer om. Under utvecklingsarbetet i ovan nämnda tekniker hölls en tät kontakt med representanter från företag för att de snabbt skulle kunna ge respons på arbetet. Projektet resulterade i två olika saker: -En lösenordsskyddad administrationsdel där all administration såsom publicering av artiklar, hantering av artiklar och kategorier, intresseanmälningar, ändring av öppettider m.m. kan skötas på ett enkelt sätt. -Företagets hemsida där besökare kan ta del av aktuella erbjudanden, bläddra bland artiklar, kontakta företaget, läsa företagsinformation, lämna intresseanmälningar på artiklar m.m. All programmering har gjorts med slutanvändarna, dvs. anställda på företaget och besökare på hemsidan i åtanke. Ett antal felkontroller både färdiga och egentillverkade har använts för att se till att fel inte uppstår i arbetet med databasen. Istället för ”riktiga” felmeddelanden visas förklarande texter om vad som måste åtgärdas. I projektets slutskede så lanserades Axel Spetz nya hemsida och den började direkt användas som ett verktyg i företagets marknadsföring. Jag anser att det är ett bra bevis på att projektet var lyckat.

The thesis is an empirical case study to predict or estimate the performance and variability of contemporary software frameworks used for web application development. Thesis can be mainly divided into 3 phases. In Phase I, we theoretically try to explore and analyze PHP, EJB 3.0 and ASP.NET considering quality attributes or ilitis of mentioned technologies. In Phase II, we develop two identical web applications i.e. online component’s webstore (applications to purchase components online) in PHP and ASP.NET. In phase III, we conduct automated testing to determine and analyze applications’ performance. We developed web applications in PHP 5.3.0 and Visual Studio 2008 using ASP.NET 3.5 to practically measure and compare the applications’ performance. We used SQL Server 2005 with ASP.NET 3.5 and MySql 5.1.36 with PHP as database servers. Software architecture, CSS, database design, database constraints were tried to keep simple and same for both applications i.e.  Applications developed in PHP and ASP.NET. This similarity helps to establish realistic comparison of applications performance and variability. The applications’ performance and variability is measured with help of automated scripts. These scripts were used to generate thousands of requests on application servers and downloading components simultaneously. More details of performance testing can be found in chapter 6, 7 and 8. / We have gain alot of knowledge from this thesis. We are very happy to finish our Software Engineering.

The students have been assigned a task from Consid, were they are supposed to develop a web based platform for handling the company’s consult CV:s. The key features of the system are to simplify the administration part at mission procurements towards customers and to match qualified consultants to certain missions.Consid is an international it-consult company and have about 1000 consults working for them. When Consid makes mission procurements towards a customer they have to manually match the best consult against a certain mission, this is both time consuming and complicated.The students started the project with big visions and thoughts about how the work would be performed and how the system would be developed. After the initial meetings and the closer it came to the beginning of programming it became clear that the expectations were too big. This is the biggest lesson learned during the project and something that has come to influence the rest of the development.The students have been compelled to learn a totally new way of structuring the code by the three tier architecture. They have also been able to get a deeper understanding of how system development is performed by companies.Before the project begun the students and the company made a requirement specification for the system. The goals for the system and early limitations were made. Along the project those goals and limitations have been changed.The report handles the work with the development and read up on problems and solutions. It ends with a discussion and is summarized so the reader gets a better picture of the system and the work around it.

This thesis, that comes together with an extranet and internet site programmed in ASP.NET 2.0, has been written in the context of our final project on bachelor level in association with the School of Engineering – Jönköping University. We had the choice to think of a project on our own or to work in association with a company. As the Belgian company Induma came with this idea, we decided to work this project out. Our project has got the name ‘Company Communication System for Customers and Dealers’. Besides the front-end and back-end internet site, it will also include a system for customers and dealers, extranet site. So the site will get more interactive and there will be more online transactions possible. We would like to thank the School of Engineering – Jönköping University, KATHO – VHTI and our parents to get the chance to experience studying abroad. We would also like to thank the company Induma for their cooperation and our Belgian and Swedish supervisors K. Deseyne and M. Schoultz for their guidance and help.

Användning av gamla informationssystem (IS) innebär problem i form av underhållningskostnader, utbyggnadsproblem och dålig interaktion med anställda (Bisbal, Lawless, Wu & Grimson 1999). Problemen leder till att företag vill byta ut sina gamla IS mot nya. I detta arbete behandlas migration, det vill säga då all funktionalitet från ett gammalt IS ska överföras till ett nytt (Bisbal m.fl, 1999). Arbetet syftar till att skräddarsy en befintlig migrationsmetod så att en generell migrationsmetod blir unik och kan användas till just det användarfall som åsyftas i arbetet. Den migrationsmetod som skräddarsyddes var The Butterfly Methodology. Genom att följa de faser och aktiviteter som migrationsmetoden innehåller erhölls ett antal resultat som initierade en migrationsprocess. De slutsatser som arbetet kom fram till var att genom att skräddarsy en migrationsmetod kunde en generell arbetsprocess göras unik så att den passade det användarfall som tas upp i arbetet. Migrationsmetoden innehöll även ett antal faser och aktiviteter som utgjorde stöd vid migrationsprocessen

Ett system utvecklades för företaget Monitor i Hudiksvall. Syftet var att skapaett system som kan kontrollera vilka funktioner ett program kan komma åtutifrån den licens som kunden har betalat för, i form av en licensfil. En analysav företagets befintliga licenshanteringssystem gjordes för att identifiera vilkaproblem som behöver lösas i det nya systemet. Arbetet har använt en agilmetod med små inkrementella leveranser och ständig kundkontakt. Eftersomsystemet fungerar som ett API och använder sig av nätverkskommunikationöver potentiellt osäkra nät, har kryptering av datatrafik med tekniken SSL/TLSanvänts. Eftersom licensfilen lagras på en klients dator har det utvecklats enmetod för att verifiera att den filen inte har manipulerats hos klienterna för attpotentiellt ge extra funktioner som de inte har betalat för. Det resulteradesystemet är en fungerande prototyp som implementerar två stycken klienter: ettadministrationsverktyg och ett fingerat kundprogram med olika funktioner däråtkomst bestäms av licensfilen som kan verifieras både off-line och on-line. Detresulterande systemet har testats i form av ett prestandatest ochanvändningstest. Resultateten av de testerna visar att prestandan är god ochsystemet är korrekt.

This master thesis is a follow-up to my bachelor thesis which deals with analysis and design of web application for a company Wedding in Prague Inc. Area of interest for this master thesis is a review of analysis and design of application and its implementation. The main aim of the thesis is to create an online wedding application for this company that organizes and plans weddings. The applications purpose is to provide an optimal informatics support for priority processes of the company. To achieve the aim, it was necessary to review analysis of the application including a review of requirements. And because of the scale of these requirements it was necessary to prioritize these requirements. After that I did a review of original design and then I implemented and tested priority functionality of the application. This topic was chosen because the company needed informatics support of existing processes and needed to provide its customers with wedding pages. These wedding pages will be used for wedding administration and providing wedding participants with information about oncoming wedding. Because no suitable application was found on market it was necessary to develop this application. Firstly, the thesis includes a definition of a destination event management and a description of companys processes. After that there is a review of requirements, use case diagrams and a design of user interface. The next chapter focuses on a review of an application design. This includes class diagram, component diagram and a database design. Chapter after that includes implementation of application using framework ASP.NET and it also includes testing cases for this application. The last chapter includes a user manual which describes the functionality of the applications. Contribution of this thesis is to implement and to test a web application which includes a priority functionality (60% of all functionality). This enables easy administration of all organized weddings. Also, it will help expand reputation of the company.
