Financial advisors' perceptions of ethical and effective attitudes and behaviour in their professionCatania, Gottfried January 2017 (has links)
Unethical behaviour is a concern in the workplace, because of the possible consequences for all stakeholders. This issue is particularly salient in the financial services sector, a highly regulated environment, where breaches of the regulations can result in large fines and reputational damage to the organisation concerned. Unethical behaviour can also have severe effects on customers, such as when inappropriate advice leads to customers losing all or a large part of their savings. Empirical studies have tended to focus mostly on organisational antecedents of unethical intentions and behaviour, with individual factors not being given that much attention. Research on the antecedents of unethical intentions and behaviour has produced inconsistent findings, suggesting that context might play a role. Consequently, my research has attempted to study the individual antecedents of unethical intentions and behaviour in the financial services industry, a specific context where it is salient. Malta presents a particularly pertinent context for this study, as its profile on Hofstede's cultural dimensions scale has been empirically linked to a higher potential for engaging in unethical behaviour.

Determinants of risk behaviour : three laboratory experiments on peer effects, group identity and incentive schemesGioia, Francesca January 2018 (has links)
Risk is inherent in many social and economic decisions, such as the choice of pathway in secondary school, the choice of major at university, job decisions, health-related behaviour, marriage, parenthood, migration and the allocation of financial assets. Investigating the determinants of attitudes towards risk is therefore essential to fully understand how people make such decisions. Recent research has shown that individual risk attitudes are not immutable personality traits, but are influenced by external factors with the potential to change them in more or less enduring ways, such as the characteristics of the environment, emotional states, life experiences such as poverty, job loss or violence, and social relationships. This thesis studies external factors that play a role in shaping risk attitudes. Specifically, it focuses on two important environmental factors: social relationships and the incentive structure that individuals face (e.g., competition or teamwork). It is composed of three chapters. Each chapter of the thesis presents the results of a different laboratory experiment, in which individual risk behaviour is always measured using the Bomb Risk Elicitation Task - BRET (Crosetto and Filippin, 2013). This task asks participants to choose how many boxes to collect out of 100, knowing that 99 boxes contain £0.10 while one contains a bomb, but without knowing in which box the bomb is located. They can therefore choose their preferred lottery among 100 lotteries whose outcomes and probabilities are fully described only by one parameter, i.e., the number of collected boxes. Earnings increase linearly with the number of boxes collected, but they are all lost if the bomb lies in one of the collected boxes. In the first two chapters, risk behaviour is measured both before and after the treatment manipulation, and feedback on the peers’ ex-ante risk behaviour is used as a channel to study peer influence on the subjects’ ex-post risk behaviour. The first two chapters provide new evidence that individual risk behaviour is influenced by the risk behaviour of the peer group and offer one explanation for why peer effects are not always present and vary in intensity. This is due to the fact that individuals are more influenced by those peers with whom they feel more bonded. Specifically, in the first chapter I study how group identity (that is, the portion of an individual’s self-concept derived from the sense of belonging to the social group) affects peer effects on risk behaviour. I induce different levels of group identity through different matching protocols (random or based on individual painting preferences) and the possibility of interacting with group members via an online chat in a group task. I find that subjects are affected by their peers when taking decisions and that a stronger group identity amplifies the influence of peers: painting preferences matching significantly reduces the heterogeneity of risk behaviour compared with random matching. On the other hand, introducing a group task has no significant effect on behaviour, possibly because this interaction does not always contribute to enhancing group identity. The second chapter digs deeper into this evidence by investigating the role of the incentive structure that characterizes the individuals’ environment. Since the first chapter shows that peer effects vary in intensity, I hypothesize that different types of incentive schemes may have different effects on peer relationships and, therefore, affect peer effects on risk behaviour. Using a real effort task, which consists of recognizing the value and the country of origin of a random sequence of Euro coins, I compare piece-rate compensation first with a cooperation-based and then with a competition-based incentive scheme. I find that competition significantly reduces attachment to peers and more than halves peer influence on risk behaviour compared with piece-rate compensation, despite the fact that the latter effect is not statistically significant. Such findings suggest that, when designing and evaluating an optimal compensation scheme, it may be important to also consider how peer effects on subsequent risk behaviour will in turn affect future decisions involving risk. For example, in research and development, competition may improve the results of current projects, but risk attitudes will shape the types of future projects that are attempted. The third chapter restricts the attention to competition and enquires whether this type of incentive scheme has a direct effect on risk-taking behaviour, beyond any social comparison, and whether its impact on subsequent risk behaviour is heterogeneous according to gender. Risk behaviour is measured after the performance of a real effort task, consisting of recognizing the value and country of origin of Euro coins, incentivized either as a tournament with fixed rewards or as a random draw with the same monetary payoffs. The data show that competition does not significantly affect subsequent risk-taking behaviour when considering the full sample. However, there is a positive relationship between competition and risk aversion for males, who become significantly more risk-averse after losing a competition than after randomly earning the same low payoff. In contrast, males do not become more risk-seeking after winning the tournament, while the average risk-taking behaviour of females is unaffected by tournament participation and outcomes. The reaction of males to negative outcomes might be driven by intrinsic motives, such as emotions or a shift in the locus of control from internal to external. Overall, the evidence presented here shows that risk attitudes are not immutable but may be shaped by external factors. Of particular importance is the role played by the risk behaviour of peers, which begins to emerge even when bonds are weak and becomes stronger as the social link intensifies. Any policy that aims to change risk attitudes (or that does so indirectly) will thus see its effects spread to the target subjects’ peers, and may amplify its success if the peer group is chosen wisely. Changing the characteristics of the subjects’ environment by introducing competition weakens their attachment to the competing peers and may attenuate peer effects on risk behaviour. In addition, competition per se has no impact on subsequent risk behaviour, except for males who become more risk-averse after losing.

Frequently, the latter have a final say on the decision at hand, and similar determinants are triggered during the digital interaction when people make decisions about their privacy. The current digital privacy landscape is filled with recurring security breaches and leaks of personal information collected by online service providers. Growing dependency on Internet-connected devices and increasing privacy risks prompted policy makers to protect individuals' right to privacy. In Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation requires companies to provide adequate information about their data collection and processing practices to users, to increase privacy awareness and enable better decision making. Regardless, currently there is no sufficient, usable technology, which could help people make improved privacy decisions, decreasing over-disclosure and oversharing. Hence, multidisciplinary researchers aim at developing new privacy-enhancing solutions. To define such solutions and successfully convey data provision and processing practices, potential risks, or harms resulting from information disclosure, it is crucial to understand cognitive processes underpinning privacy decisions. In this thesis, we examine privacy decisions and define factors that influence them. We investigate the attitude-behaviour relationship and identify privacy concerns affecting perceptions of privacy. Additionally, we examine factors influencing information sharing, such as emotional arousal and personality traits. Our results demonstrate that there is a relationship between privacy concerns and behaviours, and that simplified models of behaviour are insufficient to predict privacy decisions. Our findings show that internal factors, such as nationality and culture, emotional arousal, and individual characteristics, affect privacy decisions. Based on our findings, we conclude that future models of privacy should incorporate such determinants. The impact of State-Of-Rivers Reporting on people’s attitudes towards river conservation : a case study of the Buffalo and Hartenbos & Klein Brak Catchments in South AfricaStrydom, Wilma Fernanda 03 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MSc (Conservation Ecology and Entomology))--University of Stellenbosch, 2011. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: During 2007, two evidence-based studies were undertaken in two catchment areas in South Africa.
The first study ascertained the relationships between demographic attributes and general
awareness, human impacts, attitudes and water use behaviour. The second study determined
whether or not State-of-River (SoR) materials developed for foundation phase learners (grades 1 to
3) improved their understanding of and influenced their attitudes towards river conservation.
Surveys were conducted amongst learners (n=1178) and parents (n=1144) from different cultures
and socio-economic backgrounds. Questionnaires were available in three languages, namely
English, isiXhosa and Afrikaans.
The SoR reporting materials were not adequately distributed. The first study could therefore not
ascertain whether increased awareness or attitudinal and behavioural changes could be ascribed
to SoR reporting in the catchments. The majority of respondents (82%) indicated that there was a
need for more information on rivers and 60% of the respondents indicated that they would
participate in a follow-up survey. Thirty percent of respondents from the Buffalo catchment and 22% of respondents from the Hartenbos and Klein Brak catchment indicated that they use water very
sparingly. Respondents from urban areas scored higher in their attitudes towards river
conservation and were more aware of water issues than those from rural areas. Both attitudinal
and awareness scores did not align with water use behaviour, with rural respondents using water
more sparingly. Attitude and awareness improved with increased education levels. Respondents
who indicated that they would rather pay more for water than change their water use behaviour
showed the lowest score for attitude towards river conservation.
Learners from the Buffalo rural area showed a significant increase in understanding the benefits
that healthy rivers provide, and this can be ascribed to the distributed SoR activity book and poster.
A survey consisting of quantitative and qualitative items, as well as participatory evaluations
determined learners’ level of understanding of human impacts on rivers. The quantitative study
showed learners from the Hartenbos and Klein Brak area as well as the Buffalo rural area improved
the most over time. The qualitative items showed a 35% and 40% increase in the number of
correctly listed items as either making a river happy (healthy) or sad (unhealthy) after exposure to
SoR materials. Respondents from both catchments taking part in the participatory evaluations
displayed an overall increase in their understanding of good practices, as well as the negative
impact of human activities on rivers. Those learners that scored low in the participatory evaluations
at time 1 showed the most improvement over time, concluding that those learners who knew the
least at the start of the study, gained the most understanding of human impacts on rivers. All
schools in the Hartenbos and Klein Brak catchment, with the exception of one, showed a slight
increase in understanding of human impacts on rivers. Results from the schools in the Buffalo
catchment were more variable. Data gathered demonstrated that the SoR materials helped
learners to better understand benefits from clean rivers as well as human impact on rivers.
Although the learners from urban areas had a better understanding of the concept of river
conservation before contact with the SoR materials, learners from the rural areas showed the most improvement over time. There was an increase in the number of learners that showed a willingness
to take responsibility for their actions that could impact on river health. Far more learners
mentioned remediation types of actions than protection or preventative actions.
A change in peoples’ attitudes and behaviour is needed to ensure adequate protection of South
Africa’s natural water resources. Imprinting values and perceptions that would last into adulthood need intervention at an early age and throughout children’s’ formative years. / AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Gedurende 2007, twee bewysgebaseerde ondersoeke is in twee wateropvangsgebiede in Suid
Afrika gedoen. Die eerste studie was gerig op die bepaling van die verband tussen demografiese
kenmerke, algemene bewustheid, menslike impak, houdings en waterverbruik. Die tweede studie
het bepaal of die Stand-van-Rivier (SvR) inligtingsmateriaal wat vir grondslagfase leerlinge (graad
1 tot 3) ontwikkel is, bygedra het tot hulle begrip van en houding jeens die bewaring van riviere.
Steekproeftrekkings het leerlinge (n=1178) en ouers (n=1144) vanuit verskillende kultuur- en sosioekonomiese
agtergronde betrek. Vraelyste was in drie landstale naamlik Engels, Xhosa en
Afrikaans beskikbaar.
Die SvR kommunikasie material is nie toereikend versprei nie. Die eerste studie kon derhalwe nie
bepaal of groter bewustheid of veranderings in houding en gedrag in hierdie opvangsgebiede aan
die SvR verslaggewing toegeskryf kon word nie. Die meerderheid respondente (82%) het
aangedui dat daar ‘n tekort and rivierinligting is en 60% van die respondente het hulself
bereidwillig verklaar om aan ’n opvolgstudie deel te neem. Dertig persent van die respondente uit
die Buffels- en 22% uit die Hartenbos- en Klein Brak-opvangsgebiede het aangedui dat hulle water
spaarsamig gebruik. Respondente afkomstig van stedelike gebiede het beter
rivierbewaringshoudings getoon en was meer bewus van wateraangeleenthede as die van
landelike gebiede. Houdings en bewustheids-vlakke het nie ooreengestem met waterverbruik nie –
landelike respondente gebruik water meer spaarsamig. Beide houdings en algemene bewustheid
het toegeneem met hoër onderwysvlakke. Respondente wat aangedui het dat hulle eerder meer vir
water sal betaal as om hulle verbruik te verminder, het die swakste houding jeens die bewaring van
riviere getoon.
Leerlinge uit die landelike gebiede van die Buffels opvangsgebied het groter begrip getoon vir die
voordele wat gesonde riviere inhou, en dit kan toegeskryf word aan die aktiwiteitsboek en SvR
plakkaat wat onder hulle versprei is. ‘n Steekproef bestaande uit kwantitatiewe en kwalitatiewe
items, sowel as deelnemende evaluasies is gebruik om leerlinge se vlak van begrip van menslike
impak op riviere te bepaal. Die kwantitatiewe studie het aangedui dat die begrip van leerlinge van
die Hartenbos en Klein Brak sowel as die van die landelike Buffelsrivieropvangsgebiede oor tyd die
meeste toegeneem het. Op die vraag wat riviere gelukkig (gesond) of hartseer (ongesond) maak,
het die kwalitatiewe items, na blootstelling van die leerders aan die SvR materiaal, ‘n toename van 35% en 40% in korrekte antwoorde getoon. In die deelnemende evaluasie het respondente van
beide opvangsgebiede ‘n toename in begrip van goeie praktyke sowel as die negatiewe impak van

gedurende die eerste rondte het die meeste vordering getoon. Die gevolgtrekking is dus dat
leerlinge wat die minste geweet het aan die begin van die studie, die meeste geleer het oor
menslike impak op riviere.
Op een na, het alle skole in die Hartenbos- en Klein Brakrivieropvangsgebied ‘n geringe verhoging
in begrip van menslike impak op riviere getoon. Resultate van skole uit die Buffelsopvangsgebied
het meer gevarieer. Data versamel het gedemonstreer dat die gebruik van die aktiwiteitsboek en
plakkate gelei het tot ’n beter begrip by leerders van die voordele van skoon riviere asook van
menslike impak op riviere. Alhoewel die leerlinge van stedelike gebiede beter begrip getoon het oor
rivierbewaring voor kontak met die SvR material, het die landelike leerlinge die grootste toename in
begrip oor die verloop van die studie getoon. Daar was ook ‘n toename in die aantal leerlinge wat
bereid was om verantwoordelikheid vir hulle aktiwiteite wat ‘n impak op riviergesondheid kon hê, te
aanvaar. Veel meer leerlinge het tydens die tweede fase verwys na herstel eerder as beskermings
of voorkomende gedrag.

Validation of self-reports for use in contact researchSharp, Melanie January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether self-report measures of contact are valid for use in research testing the ‘contact hypothesis’. The vast majority of contact research has relied on the assumed validity of self-report methods of data collection (Pettigrew & Tropp, 2006), even though the potential weaknesses of self-report methodology generally have been well documented. This reliance is necessary, as self-reports remain the only practical method so far developed of measuring certain of the facilitating conditions developed by Allport (1954/1979), and particularly of direct and indirect cross-group friendship (Pettigrew, 1998; Wright, Aron, McLaughlin-Volpe, & Ropp, 1997). However, if self-reports are not a valid method for measuring contact, the derived implications of a large portion of the research effort are potentially flawed. This thesis attempted to address this important oversight, using a variety of methods to investigate whether the use of self-reports in future research on intergroup contact is appropriate. Studies 1 and 2 demonstrated that self-reports of contact show considerable resistance to context effects, particularly in comparison with self-reports of the more subjective construct of attitudes. Studies 3-5 demonstrated that self-reports of contact agree with the observer-reports of a single observer who knows the target intimately – the spouse or parent. Studies 6 and 7 replicate this agreement through the consensually supported observer-reports of three close friends of the target, thereby reducing any variance due to individual response biases. Finally, studies 8 and 9 demonstrate the concurrent criterion-related validity of self-reports of contact, in that they are able to predict contact on a very large online network called Facebook, on which real-world rather than purely online friendships are primarily represented. These findings offer considerable support for the validity of self-reports as a suitable method for measuring contact. As self-reports remain the only method which has thus far proven suitable for the measurement of those aspects of contact which are essential for exploration of the contact hypothesis, this thesis presents a very heartening and optimistic conclusion and supports the continued use of self-reports in contact research.

Workplace democracy, well-being and political participationCoutinho, James January 2016 (has links)
A democratic workplace is one where workers as a body have the right to determine the internal organization and future direction of the firm. Worker co-operatives are a type of democratic firm. In a worker co-operative employees are joint-owners of the firm and participate democratically in workplace governance. Much has been written about the supposed benefits of worker co-operatives for workers and for society. One thread of this research, originating with Carole Pateman’s theoretical work (Pateman 1970), argues that worker co-operatives act as sites of political learning for workers. By participating democratically in workplace decisions, individuals are thought to learn the skills and psychological dispositions needed to participate in political democracy. A second thread argues that co-operatives will improve worker well-being. Democratic governance will give workers control over work organization, increasing autonomy in their daily lives, and leading to an increase in non-material work rewards such as job satisfaction. Worker ownership will equalize the material rewards from work and improve job security. These arguments are premised on the idea that democratic governance structures and worker ownership will lead to widespread, effective worker participation in decision-making and the equalization of power at work. However, insufficient attention is given to the contextual factors beyond formal governance and ownership structures that shape the internal dynamics of workplace democracy. I conduct an in-depth, mixed-methods case study of a worker co-operative with 158 employees in the UK cycling retail industry. Using survey research, social network analysis, in-depth interviews and direct observation, I show how individual differences, firm-level contextual factors such as the social composition of the organization, and macro-level factors such as economic and cultural context, lead to unequal participation opportunities and different outcomes for different groups of workers within the firm. My research leads to three conclusions. First, the outcomes of workplace democracy for workers are highly context-dependent. They will differ across groups of workers within co-operatives, across different democratic firms, and across cultures. Second, the relationship between workplace democracy and political participation is more complex than the Pateman thesis suggests. It is contingent on the political identities of workers, which are themselves shaped by wider political economic context. Political identity affects both participation behaviour at work, and how workplace experience shapes political views. Third, the subjective well-being outcomes of workplace democracy depend on workers’ expectations about work. Expectations are shaped by the same forces that mould political identity. Workplace democracy raises expectations for certain groups of workers, leading to well-being harms when expectations are not met. Overall, the benefits of workplace democracy for workers and for society are overstated. In the UK context, co-ops are unlikely to realize the benefits attributed to them without large-scale public policy interventions.

This dissertation investigates whether video games are able to affect players' attitudes and information behaviour towards depicted historical topics in games over the short- and long-term. We collected data from a sample of 148 young adults. As far as we know, there is currently no study of such a scale focused on historical games. We used, as an intervention tool, a modification of the serious game Czechoslovakia 38-89: Borderlands that deals with the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans from the former Czechoslovakia after WWII. The game is based on historical research providing players with multiple perspectives on the depicted topics. Our control group played a similar game, but where the narrative was unrelated to any depicted historical event from Czechoslovakia 38-89: Borderlands. In the empirical part of the study, we measured explicit and implicit attitude change and information behaviour change towards the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans. Results showed more negative pretest-posttest explicit attitude changes towards the expulsion on a general level (d = -0.34; p = .022) and a specific level (d = -0.53; p = .001) in the experimental group compared to the control group. De närmaste åren behöver Kriminalvården expandera för att möta samhällets behov och krav, vilket kräver ytterligare rekrytering till alla befattningar inom Kriminalvården behövs. Kriminalvården vill fortsätta sträva mot jämställdhet och attrahera kvinnor till de historiskt sett mansdominerade arbetsrollerna. Enligt Kriminalvårdens årsredovisning från 2021 ses att än idag återfinns kvinnor främst i de omhändertagande professionerna, vilka skulle kunna betraktas som traditionellt könsstereotypiskt kvinnliga roller. Kvinnor återfinns vanligtvis inom de lägre arbetspositionerna där de även tenderar att bli kvar. Studiens syfte är att studera skillnader mellan mäns och kvinnors intresse och vilja till avancemang inom en av Kriminalvårdens klass 1-anstalter och därigenom bidra med kunskap till eventuella orsaker. För att studiens syfte ska uppnås har en kvalitativ och en kvantitativ metod använts, där sex intervjupersoner låtits delge information och ytterligare 27 respondenter besvarat en enkät. Intervjupersonerna befinner sig i arbetsledande positioner och respondenterna arbetar inom anstaltens största yrkesgrupp- kriminalvårdare. Studien påvisar att där inte finns några tydliga skillnader mellan mäns och kvinnors vilja till att avancera till högre arbetsledande positioner. Den väsentliga skillnaden ligger i att mäns och kvinnors sätt att visa intresse till avancemang skiljer sig åt. Det framkommer att fenomenet att män och kvinnor visar olika intresse till att avancera beror på samhällelig nivå med normer och värderingar som grundar sig i genus, snarare än på en organisationsnivå. Även om Kriminalvården eftersträvar jämställdhet spelar samhällets attityder och beteenden en avgörande roll där det formella ansvaret på arbetsplatsen ser lika ut oavsett kön. Det har under studiens gång dock visat sig att det informella ansvaret kan vara minst lika omfattande som det formella, där kvinnor både bär och tar på sig det största ansvaret. / The study Women’s career in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is based on the notion of gender equality. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is a government agency and must, just like everyone who operates in the Swedish labor market, ensure that laws and regulations are followed. In the next few years, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service needs to expand to meet society's needs and demands, which requires further recruitment for all positions within the agency. The agency wants to continue to strive towards gender equality and attract women to the historically male-dominated work roles. According to the Prison Service's annual report from 2021, it can be seen that even today women are found mainly in the caring professions, which could be considered traditionally gender-stereotypically female roles. Women are usually found in the lower working positions where they also tend to stay. The purpose of the study is to study differences between men's and women's interest and desire for advancement within one of the agency’s class 1 prisons, and thereby contribute with knowledge to possible causes. In order to reach the purpose of the study, a qualitative and quantitative method have been used, where six interviewees were providing information and further 27 respondents answered a questionnaire. The interviewees are in managerial positions and the respondents work within the institution's largest occupational group - prison officers. The study shows that there are no clear differences between men's and women's willingness to advance to higher managerial positions. The essential difference lies in the fact that the way men and women show interest in advancement differs. It appears that the phenomenon that men and women show different interest in advancing is due to a societal level with norms and values based on gender, rather than an organizational level. Although the Swedish Prison and Probation Service strives for gender equality, it is the existence of attitudes and behaviors of the society that play a decisive role where formal responsibility within organizations are the same regardless of gender. During the work of this study, it has, however, been shown that the informal responsibility can be at least as extensive as the formal one, where women both bear and take the greatest responsibility.

Towards pro-conservation attitudes and behaviour by local communities bordering protected areas in South AfricaQueiros, Dorothy Ruth 09 1900 (has links)

Biodiversity must be conserved while improving community wellbeing. An increased understanding of key influences on pro-conservation attitudes and behaviour is essential for the future of successful conservation and the creation of realistic solutions for poor communities. Knowledge gaps exist regarding intangible benefits and losses, as well as the relationship between benefits, losses and pro-conservation attitudes and behaviour. Furthermore, there are less qualitative studies in this field than quantitative, nor are there many that include the perspective of park staff.
This research followed a novel comparative multiple-method qualitative approach, using contrasting case studies and borrowing from grounded theory. Three nature reserves were selected, each involving two constituencies – (i) the local community and (ii) protected area staff. Individual interviews, focus group interviews, mapping, and adapted nominal grouping technique were used to collect data. The data were first analysed question-by-question for each case study, followed by cross-case analysis which resulted in meta-themes for each research objective.
In each case study, benefits and losses were ranked to indicate their level of importance. Key tangible benefits were employment, access to natural resources and support for schools. Intangible benefits drew less focus, but comprise key influences, such as visiting the park, environmental education, information dissemination, and involvement. Key losses were lack of/limited access to the reserve as visitors, insufficient employment, fear of wild animals and lack of involvement/interaction. Findings indicate that communities have a range of responsibilities towards the reserve (some of which are self-imposed), and a strong sense of custodianship. Exclusion from responsibility led to negative attitudes. Good relationships resulted in fewer poaching incidents, although locals are hesitant to report subsistence poaching. Areas of non-alignment between the perceptions of both constituencies highlight areas for rectification, such as parks acknowledging the losses perceived by communities; knowing which benefits are most important to communities; and highlighting benefits not mentioned by communities.
The meta-themes were used to construct a data-derived ‘Theory of Influences on Pro-conservation Attitudes and Behaviour’, which indicates how relationship is shaped by benefits, losses, detractors and facilitators; and includes solutions to increase positive attitudes. To drive practical application of the theory, recommendations for park managers and local communities are provided. Finally, this study was integrated with existing literature to develop the ‘People-Parks Win-Win Framework’ – a comprehensive representation of the influences on people-park relationships – which has not been done before. The study makes methodological, theoretical and practical contributions.
