Thermal Resistance Measurements of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures (TPMS) of the Thermogalvanic Brick

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: The presence of huge amounts of waste heat and the constant demand for electric energy makes this an appreciable research topic, yet at present there is no commercially viable technology to harness the inherent energy resource provided by the temperature differential between the inside and outside of buildings. In a newly developed technology, electricity is generated from the temperature gradient between building walls through a Seebeck effect. A 3D-printed triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structure is sandwiched in copper electrodes with copper (I) sulphate (Cu2SO4) electrolyte to mimic a thermogalvanic cell. Previous studies mainly concentrated on mechanical properties and the electric power generation ability of these structures; however, the goal of this study is to estimate the thermal resistance of the 3D-printed TPMS experimentally. This investigation elucidates their thermal resistances which in turn helps to appreciate the power output associated in the thermogalvanic structure. Schwarz P, Gyroid, IWP, and Split P geometries were considered for the experiment with electrolyte in the thermogalvanic brick. Among these TPMS structures, Split P was found more thermally resistive than the others with a thermal resistance of 0.012 m2 K W-1. The thermal resistances of Schwarz D and Gyroid structures were also assessed experimentally without electrolyte and the results are compared to numerical predictions in a previous Mater's thesis. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Mechanical Engineering 2020

Obytné stavby z neomítaného cihelného zdiva z období první republiky v pražských čtvrtích Střešovice, Dejvice a Bubeneč / Residential buildings made of bricks in Prague districts Střešovice, Dejvice and Bubeneč from the First Republic Era

Pilařová, Kateřina January 2020 (has links)
The master thesis follows the research within the framework of the Student Monuments Mission which among other things found a higher occurrence of family houses made of bricks in Prague districts Střešovice, Dejvice and Bubeneč from the first half of the 20th century. The research discovered also a striking proportion of artists among their builders. The student will work with the list of these buildings and analyse them in the core chapter of thesis including typology and classifying into context with the surrounding buildings. This part will be prepared by introductory chapters in which will be presented brick like a material in history, will be showed traditional of producing and using bricks in Prague architecture. Then will be focused brick as a means of expression of modern architecture, from a global context to more elaborate Czech and Prague architecture. Student will summarize the analysis of individual buildings in conclusion and try to explain the primordial research. The master thesis will include a pictorial supplement.

Hotel / Hotel

Sasko, Richard January 2019 (has links)
My diploma thesis deals with a design of a public building, in this case a hotel. It is the design of the project documentation, the result of which is the realization of an object that meets the standards of the Czech Republic as well as the demands and needs of the investor. The building is designed as a two-storey, above-ground new building with twenty-two short-stay accommodation units providing a place for forty-two guests in total. Technically it is one of the traditional Czech methods, clay brick. In this case, the bricks are from manufacturer HELUZ, they are abraded with built-in thermal insulation in its cavities. The foundations are formed by foundation strips. The roof is flat with a slope of 2%. The building is located in Pezinok, Slovakia.

Horský penzion s restaurací / Mountain guest house and restaurant

Dudáš, Peter January 2019 (has links)
The title of my diploma thesis is Mountain Pension with Restaurant and is written in English. My task was to create a mountain guesthouse that would serve as a background for other cottages in the neighborhood. I designed a wellness center as well as a restaurant and accomodation in the building. It is a two-storey with basement. The ground floor is reserved for the restaurant, the basement for wellness and the attic is designed for temporary accomodation. From a technical point of view, the construction system consists of a brick walls and monolithic ceilings. The main vertical supporting elements are ceramic walls and the main horizontal elements are one-way reinforced slabs which are reinforced using reinforced concrete core. The roof is made of wooden trusses.

Vyhořívání organických lehčiv v cihlářském střepu / The Combustion of Organic Lightweighting Agent in Brick Body

Kašíková, Milada January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the burnout of organic substances in the brick body using different types of lightener for different types of soils. The theoretical part summarizes the different ways of lightening and a descri-ption of burnable organic substances. The practical part contains the results of various experiments and individual graphs with the course of temperature increase during firing using various burnable substances.

Možnosti využití cihelného recyklátu v pojivových systémech s obsahem p-slínku / Possibilities of using recycled brick in binders systems with p-clinker content

Tušla, Václav January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the preparation binder systems based on Portland clinker and recycled brick. Recycled brick is considered a waste material from construction or production of brick products. This thesis uses finely grounded brick recycled and brick dust, which is produced during final processing of burnt bricks. By incorporating brick dust in alternative system based on Portland clinker could bring ecological and economic benefits. This diploma thesis deals with option using brick dust as pozzolan admixture to Portland clinker, with the aim to prepare and test Portland cement, which is defined in v ČSN EN 197-1. This thesis also deals with possibility preparation of alternative binders based on p-clinker, but those not defined by ČSN EN 197-1. Specifically these are ternary binders with fluid bed ash and binders based on hybrid cements containing sodium sulfate.
