Tomáš Bartáček Pedagogická fakulty UK v Praze 2010 In this thesis, I compiled an educational set illustrating the microscopic anatomy of intervertebrates. This set is intended for use by students and teachers at high schools and gymnasia. It complements the common tools used for education in zoology of invertebrates. It combines a set of microscopic specimens (histological sections, smear and native specimens) and multimedia atlas. For the present work, I chose model invertebrates that have been commonly described in high school and gymnasia text books. For preparation of the histological sections, I used flatworms (Dugesia gonocephala), roundworms (Ascaris suum) and earthworms (Lumbricus terrestris). I prepared the specimens in accordance with standard methods shown in literature with slight modifications in order to make them suitable for the given specimens. I used paraffin as a cutting fluid and I stained the specimens using either Harris hematoxylin and eosin or Masson's trichrome stain. To create the smear specimens, I spread the animal tissues of interest, fixed them in methylene and stained using Giemsa-Romanowski stain. Master thesis studying the use of multimedia on CD-ROM in a library setting by analysis ofqualitative interviews with nineteen persons.The thesis relates the study to some relevant issues in human-computer interface (HCI) researchand to the commercial market for multimedia CD-ROM products. Three main types ofuse were described by the persons interviewed: recreational, information seeking and usingmultimedia to learn more about using computers. Children and young people interviewed mademost use of the multimedia provided, whereas adults thought it to be less valuable as a sourceof knowledge for them personally.HCI research shows various results of using multimedia for educational purposes. Thecommercial market is dominated by American products which can have a negative effect onthe use of multimedia in Swedish public libraries.

The thesis describes the development during the 1990s of visual artists' utilisation of computer-based interactive multimedia and the production internationally, with a focus on Australian artists, of artworks on the CD-ROM media format. Earlier parts of the author's research led to the exhibition, 'Burning the Interface &lt International Artists' CD-ROM&gt', which he co-curated, opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, in 1996, before touring to Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. The thesis surveys the range of practice by artists working with digital media and the opportunities for exhibition in the public spaces of museums, galleries and the street, and advances scenarios for correcting the laxity of response by the exhibiting institutions to the vigour with which Australian artists represented their work and ideas at this time in national and international forums. Four published artists' work on CDROM are analysed in detail, and a concluding chapter about 'interactive multimedia' and its usefulness as an art medium to the artist introduces the studio practice component of this MFA submission. This takes the form of a prototype 'experimental' version of an interactive multimedia work on CD-ROM, ('Strangers on the Land') a copy of which is contained in a pocket at the rear of the bound version.

Depuis 1990, l'édition de CDroms d'auteur a marqué l'édition numérique. Ce travail vise à interroger les conditions de réception esthétique de ces formes éditoriales. L'étude critique de cinq titres est précédée d'un panorama de ces publications. Deux principes sont privilégiés : le jeu des actions et la construction narrative, car ils en déterminent les modes de réception. Perçus comme antagonistes malgré leurs similitudes, le jeu et le récit sont l'objet d'une réflexion théorique. Celle-ci distingue jeu-game et jeu-play et insiste sur l'importance d'un niveau racontable, précédant le récit verbal. Ces distinctions permettent une articulation plus riche que l'opposition temporelle initiale entre jeu et récit qui semblait tout d'abord caractériser la réception esthétique de ces éditions. De nouvelles critiques de CDroms s'appuient sur ces distinctions, elles insistent sur l'invitation préalable induite par l'objet, la conduite des expériences engagées et les conditions de leur clôture.

Jag bestämde mig då för att göra en svensk sida som är användbar för skolbruk. Då datorer och Internet mest används för faktasökande i samband med eget arbete ville jag bygga upp något annorlunda. </p><p>Meningen med detta arbete är att försöka bygga upp ett interaktivt läromedel med program som går att hitta gratis på Internet, samt att undersöka vilka problem som kan uppstå vid framställningen. Min förhoppning är att detta arbete kan bidra till att ge lärare en ny uppfattning om Internets möjligheter. Då sidorna är uppbyggda i HTML fungerar de på alla datorer med webläsare. Genom att koppla kemin till elevernas vardag kan man visa att kemin inte bara är ett skolämne, utan något som omger oss och styr våra liv. Detta arbete kan användas både i skolan och i hemmet, eftersom experimenten är anpassade för att göras hemma.</p><p>"Vardagskemi"är uppbyggt kring ett hus där man kan"vandra"runt. An updated silvics text for British Columbia. The need for an effective learning tool for silvics - one of the basic required courses in forestry - has been recognized by intructors as well as students across the province. The text prepared 18 years ago by Krajina et al. (1982) specifically for western Canada has become outdated. The silvics text by Burns and Honkala (1990) represents an up-to-date compendium but it is not an effective learning tool, particularly lacking in the linkage of silvics to ecological classification. Consequently, we revised and expanded “Distribution and Ecological Characteristics of Trees and Shrubs of British Columbia” (Krajina et al. 1982) using the available information on silvics, with some modification for BC and the results of recent silvics research done in BC. This material has been consolidated into a format that will help students understand the silvical attributes of tree species as well as the relationships between trees and their environments. To enhance learning, we have selected a series of slides illustrating the salient characteristics for each species and present this visual component on a CD-ROM included with the text. Also included is a large biogeoclimatic zone map of BC. The text, together with the CD-ROM, is intended to facilitate learning of silvics emphasizing its application to silviculture.

In den Beziehungen und in der Zusammenarbeit zwischen Nonprofit Organisationen und öffentlichen Verwaltungen sind in Österreich markante Veränderungen zu beobachten. "Leere Kassen" und Sparprogramme gelten als Argument umfassender finanzpolitischer Restriktionen der öffentlichen Hand. Die Finanzierung der von NPOs erbrachten gesellschaftlichen Leistungen wird prekär. Eine theoretische Legitimation erhält diese Entwicklung durch die Diskussion zur gesellschaftlichen Verantwortung des öffentlichen und des NPO Sektors unter den Stichworten "New Public Management" und "Zivilgesellschaft". Auch supranationale Einflüsse - insbesondere jene der EU - schaffen neue Rahmenbedingungen für die Arbeit der NPOs. Die Konfrontation mit veränderten Spielregeln bedeutet für beide Sektoren eine Herausforderung. Insbesondere der anhaltende Druck in Richtung Sparsamkeit und Effizienz der öffentlichen Mittelverwendung hat erhebliche Auswirkungen auf das Verhältnis zwischen NPOs und öffentlicher Hand. Ein Kernelement dieser Entwicklung ist der Positionswandel vieler NPOs von der Rolle eines in seinen Aktivitäten weitgehend freien Subventionsempfängers, der durch persönliche Vertrauensbeziehungen gestützt wird, hin zum vertraglich gebundenen Dienstleister. Resultat sind widersprüchliche Forderungen, die zu wechselseitigen Fehleinschätzungen führen und den Eindruck einer "falschen Verbindung" entstehen lassen. Einige Beispiele sollen dies verdeutlichen: 1. Zum einen wird eine verstärkte Eigeninitiative von NPOs gefordert, zum anderen unterbinden enge Ausschreibungen jeglichen Spielraum. 2. Einerseits wird im Rahmen einer Zivilgesellschaft die Beteiligung der Ehrenamtlichen hoch gelobt, andererseits machen die Einklagbarkeit von Verträgen und die Vorgabe strikter Kriterien den Einsatz von Ehrenamtlichen zum Risiko. 3. Auf der einen Seite sollen NPOs wie professionelle Unternehmen agieren, auf der anderen Seite will man von der Tradition der Bevormundung und Detailkontrolle nicht lassen. Bislang durchgeführte qualitative Interviews mit Führungskräften des NPO-Sektors und der Geldgeber sprechen u.a. folgenden Forschungsannahmen hohe Plausibilität zu: - NPOs müssen für öffentliche Geldgeber berechenbar sein. Gründete die Berechenbarkeit früher dominant im politisch-werthaften Vertrauen in bestimmte Personen, so stützt sie sich heute zunehmend auf die Professionalität und auf das Wissenspotential der NPO. Die Steuerungsmedien Macht und persönliches Vertrauen werden überlagert durch jene von Geld und Wissen. - Leistungsvertragliche Beziehungen erfordern Entscheidungen und erzwingen Organisation: In Abgrenzung von informellen Handlungsmustern gewinnt formales Handeln in NPOs an Bedeutung. Auch basisnahen NPOs stehen unter Druck, sich vom Ideal und den Fesseln der Basisdemokratie zu verabschieden. - Es gibt eine Tendenz zur Professionalisierung sowohl im einschlägig-fachlichen wie auch im betriebswirtschaftlich-instrumentellen Bereich. Innerbetrieblich führt dies nicht selten zu einer symbolische Polarisierung zwischen Fachexperten einerseits und Betriebswirten andererseits. (Autorenref.) / Series: WU-Jahrestagung 2002
