Methods are needed to predict the spatial distribution pattern(s) of forest harvests to improve large-scale timber inventories through the incorporation of spatial distribution information. In this study, land cover type change detection methods were carried out using information from 1972 thru 2005 east-central Mississippi Landsat TM data to detect the spatial distribution of clearcut forest harvests. A random pattern was observed for clearcut harvests and this and other statistical data gathered in the study will be integrated into an existing forest inventory and transportation network database. The resulting harvested and forested area predictions generated by the database will assist with determining the sustainability and availability of forest resources for existing and future forest product mills and the creation of transportation networks needed to supply raw materials and distribute end products. Other implications include assessment of the quality and spatial components of wildlife habitat and a tool for forest certification programs.

As of January 2023, there are 59,976 Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with current licensure throughout the world. This number has substantially grown compared to the meager 392 persons so certified in the year 2000 (Behavior Analyst Certification Board, 2023) In the past 11 years, demand for Board Certified Behavior Analysts has increased by 4,209% (Behavior Analyst Certification Board, 2022). As the need for this resource has increased, the presence of BCBAs is becoming more prevalent in public schools today. A BCBA can be a beneficial and critical resource to teachers in aiding in their behavior knowledge, and classroom management. Since there is a scarcity of BCBAs in schools, it is important that a BCBA's time is spent effectively while working with teachers. To our knowledge, there is little to no research specifically targeting special education teachers and how they interact with BCBAs. A Multiperspectival Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis focus group was conducted with educators who interface with BCBAs. Findings indicated both barriers and affordances attached to special education teachers working with a BCBA. Implications for practice, implications for research, and limitations are discussed.

The impact of an education program on perception, knowledge, and infection rate was evaluated in this study. The educational intervention consisted of a video on infection control and a World Health Organization (WHO) pamphlet for hand hygiene. The study was conducted in one nursing home in the Southeastern United States. The survey sample consisted of 66 certified nurse assistants (CNAs). A pre- and post-intervention design was employed using the WHO’s Hand Hygiene Knowledge Questionnaire and the WHO Perception Survey. Friedman’s test and central tendencies showed no statistical relationship between the educational intervention and the overall knowledge scores of the sample. There also were no statistical differences in perception of hand hygiene in the CNA sample. Infection frequency was reduced with a percent change of -42%. While results of knowledge and perception surveys were not statistically significant, multiple conclusions were derived to suggest that educational opportunities may impact hand hygiene practice in CNAs and lead to a decrease in infection.

Physical injuries to the upper extremity can have a drastic impact on an individual’s daily functioning affecting their psychological well-being, social participation, and ability to perform valued activities such as self-care, work, and leisure tasks. Due to the wide range of factors affecting a person who is recovering from an upper extremity injury, therapists treating these individuals must understand, help identify, and address the areas impacting function to support and maximize participation in and performance of valued occupations. However, often psychosocial aspects of care go unaddressed when biomechanical interventions are prioritized, which is primarily attributed to therapists’ lack of knowledge, confidence, or skills in this area. Unlocking Biopsychosocial Hand Therapy is a continuing education unit (CEU) course aimed at filling therapist gaps in knowledge and service provision, specifically regarding psychosocial factors, when treating clients with upper extremity injuries or conditions. The long-term goals of this innovative program are to improve client outcomes and to increase therapist prioritization of psychosocial factors on par with biological factors.
