<p>Ergonomi innebär läran om människan i arbete, det vill säga samspelet mellan människa och arbetsredskap. Med detta som bakgrund kan man konstatera att det ställs höga krav på att arbetsstolen skall komplettera brukaren för att uppnå ett optimalt ergonomiskt sittande.</p><p>Syftet med denna rapport är att ge en inblick i sittergonomi och utformningen av arbetsstolar. För att uppnå ett ergonomiskt sittande menar ergonomer att man skall sitta med en öppen höftvinkel, vilket leder till ett dynamiskt sittande. Det dynamiska sittandet gör att brukaren har ett rörligt och aktivt sittande. Detta kan till viss del uppnås genom ett sittande enligt principen för balansstolen. För att ytterligare uppnå ett bra sittande finns det arbetsmiljölagar som reglerar sittandet på arbetsplatser.</p> / <p>The science of ergonomic means the human in work, which also can be defined as the combination between the human and the working tools. With this as a background it proves that there are high demands on the chairs that are meant for work. The chair is supposed to complement the user to reach an optimal ergonomic sitting.</p><p>The purpose of this report is to give an insight in the ergonomic sitting and how workchairs are designed. Ergonomics means that one way to reach an ergonomic sitting is with an open hip angle, which brings out a dynamic sitting. The dynamic sitting gives the user an active sitting. This can partly be achieved through a sitting like the principle for the balance chair. To further achieve a good sitting there are laws that contents the work environment, which controls the sitting on workplaces.</p>

South African anthropometric dimensions for the design of an ergonomic office chairKorte, Janice 05 September 2013 (has links)
Office chairs are becoming a modern status symbol in the workplace. Many individuals are seated on office chairs for most of the working day. As a result of using poorly designed chairs injury and discomfort are frequently experienced, most particularly lower back pain. Correct design of chairs is imperative, and must be user-centered. The aim of this investigation has been to gather anthropometric dimensions characteristic of the South African population, as this information has not been widely assimilated to date. Once collated, this information could be used in the design of an ergonomically correct office chair, suitable for the unique characteristics of the South African working population. Anthropometric dimensions were collected from 683 South Africans (comprising 448 South African females and 235 South African males) from pre-selected companies in major centres in South Africa (Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg, Durban, East London, Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town). Measurements included participants’ personal information (age, sex, home language and ethnic group), basic anthropometric measures (stature, shoulder height, mass, and waist and hip circumference) as well as specific measures of fit of the individual to the specially designed, adjustable chair. Of the 448 females, 317 were Black females, 77 were White females, 35 were Coloured females and 19 were Indian/Asian females. Of the 235 males, 112 were Black males, 79 were White males, 26 were Coloured males and 18 were Indian/Asian males. Office chair dimensions for each ethnic group were represented and differences were noted. A comparison between a current office chair’s dimensions and the South African sample office chair’s dimensions indicated modifications that would need to be constructed to suit the South African sample. The conventional office chair is still the most widely accepted office chair due to its stability and support structures that maintain the correct sitting posture of the user. An ergonomic office chair needs to incorporate anthropometric dimensions worldwide.

Previous issue date: 2010 / Resumo: Neste trabalho buscou-se a utilização de instrumentos, técnicas e procedimentos da Psicologia, para auxiliar a tradução das necessidades básicas de clientes em uma forma estruturada, para o levantamento da Voz do Cliente, a fim de auxiliar na aplicação do método Desdobramento da Função Qualidade (QFD). A pesquisa foi realizada com usuários de cadeira de rodas e, por meio de questionários abertos e fechados, e análises qualitativas e quantitativas dos dados obtidos, foram levantadas as principais necessidades dos cadeirantes em relação à cadeira de rodas. As necessidades levantadas foram divididas em parâmetros, traduzidas em requisitos de engenharia e inseridas na Matriz I (Casa da Qualidade) do QFD. Os processos adotados são sugeridos para equipes com profissionais de diversas áreas, como metodologia válida, para levantamento da Voz do Cliente. Considerations on the Representation of Women in Elite Research and Senior Administration Positions in Academe: An Interpretivist-Feminist PerspectiveDubuc, Tamar 13 August 2021 (has links)
This dissertation examines the concept of underrepresentation as deployed in
scholarly and gray literature to describe the paucity of women in elite research and senior administration positions in Canadian universities. I explore the meaning of
underrepresentation, drawing from research in organization studies, feminist and gender studies, philosophy, and political studies, to discuss the different ideas and assumptions that converge to define the parameters of women’s underrepresentation. I demonstrate how underrepresentation arises as an unproblematized claim in gender and organization theorizing and holds significant implications for women in its partial and reductive descriptions. This dissertation proposes a conceptual revisioning based on views of representation that allows for a more holistic consideration of women in organizations—in the context of my research, women in elite research and senior administration positions in academe. I adopt a dual-study research design to determine the shape and measure of women’s representation from the field. Using thematic analysis (TA), I review institutional texts pertaining to the Canada Research Chairs program (CRCP) and transcripts from my interviews with women in senior administration roles in Canadian universities. My findings confirm the need to augment the conceptual framework to include views of representation in order to achieve greater alignment between gender and organization theorizing and women’s lived experiences. I conclude that views of representation hold the potential to disrupt the problematic claim of underrepresentation, thus allowing for a more holistic and multifaceted understanding of women in organizations.
My dissertation is an interpretivist-feminist project that exposes a conceptual
problematic for the purpose of producing and advancing theory that is critically constructive rather than critically reactive, rooted in women’s experiences, self-aware and committed to supporting social action in favour of women’s full participation and gender equity across all facets of academic organizational life.

I’m setting out to find beauty in the universal and common. In the used and unwanted. Giving primary value to these components, materials and techniques that are perhaps not usually considered primary or wanted in an interior context. To challenge our conception of what a beautiful piece of furniture can be. This exercise will be presented as nine chairs. Each chair has its own story, about the site and the material. We do not know what the materials of tomorrow will be. But by looking back at our predecessors we can learn a lot. They were not hindered by scarcities, they used what they had and, in my opinion, created beautiful objects that was durable enough to still be around today. Moving forward we will have to be open, and not afraid of change. It is inevitable, let’s embrace the circumstances as they come and make the best out of it then. Beauty will not be lost because we might need to use other materials. Looking back at these pre-industrial pieces, inspired by this ingenuity and creativity comes a new strain of evolution, or perhaps rather mutation. Artifacts that evoke reflection upon preferences, conventional production, the value of objects and beauty.

The Appointment of Untenured Department Chairs in Two- and Four-Year Colleges in a Western State: Problems and PotentialsWilliams, Forrest G. 30 June 2006 (has links) (PDF)
This research study explored the appointment of untenured faculty as department chairs in three two- and four-year colleges in one Western state's system of higher education. Eleven untenured faculty serving as untenured department chairs were interviewed using the qualitative methodology of grounded theory to analyze the data collected in the form of interview transcripts. At the two- and four-year colleges studied, an untenured faculty member's potential of achieving tenure does not appear to be negatively affected by serving as department chair before receiving tenure. A central finding in this research study is the presentation of an explanatory model that provides a framework for understanding characteristics and risk levels for untenured department chairs. The model integrates the factors of tenure standards and department chair duties to predict the risk to an untenured faculty member of failing to achieve tenure while successfully performing the roles of department chair. Four quadrants represent low to high risk. For the colleges studied, the risk of not achieving tenure for an untenured faculty member serving as chair varies according to (a) the institution's rigor of tenure requirements and standards and (b) the extent to which the chair duties as service to the institution, when taken as a whole, are weighted towards meeting tenure requirements. Additional findings present the untenured chairs' motivation for accepting the position, the benefits and costs that they encountered as a result of that appointment, and how being an untenured chair affected their ability to perform their various roles as department chairs.

HOW ENGLISH LANGUAGE HEAD OF DEPARTMENTS PERCEIVE THEIR ROLES in TEACHER DEVELOPMENT AND TEACHER EFFICACY: A STUDY of EIGHT JAMAICAN SCHOOLSWilmot, Ann-Marie January 2017 (has links)
This qualitative study sought to gain deeper insights into how English Language Heads of Department (H.O.D.) perceive their roles in teacher development and efficacy, what leadership style inform their role enactment and the different skill sets and beliefs they take to their H.O.D. roles. The population was limited to selected schools in central Jamaica with a sample size of eight Heads of Departments in upgraded and traditional high schools. The motivation to conduct this research arose out of the concerns about Jamaica’s poor ratings in CXC English Language passes and my perception that insights into how H.O.D.s perceived their roles could possibly generate a solution to enable them to facilitate teaching learning experiences that could redound to improved CXC English Language results. Extensive case-based interviews, ranking activity and stimulated recall of artefacts were my primary sources of data, and I used open coding axial coding systems to analyze my data. Presently H.O.D.s engage in more traditional roles align them to a transactional approach as their leadership style. However, the changing roles of the H.O.D.s demand a more transformational leadership style. The findings suggest that some H.O.D.s’ approach is transformational, some transactional, while others display no distinct leadership style. Some play an excellent role in teacher development and efficacy, others play very little or no role. H.O.D.s perception of their role conflict with how they enact these roles and what they believe about them. The conclusion is that i H.O.D.s need a comprehensive system of training in their H.O.D.s specific roles and to help them develop and utilize more transformational leadership skills for use with their departments.
