Fani Ching Fen Chiang 05 January 2015 (has links)
This research paper investigates the contribution spirituality gives to the recovery of hospitalized cardiac patients. Saint-Denis. Space and Memory from the 12th to the early 16th century

Berné, Damien 20 February 2016 (has links)
The commemorative and liturgical functions of Saint-Denis influenced the abbey’s spatial configuration for centuries after construction of the core of the church ended in 1281. The addition of lateral chapels on the north side of the nave in 1320-1324, like the creation and movement of altars during the next two hundred years, resulted from the expansion of the abbey’s liturgical engagement beyond its primary responsibilities for the cult of Saint Denis and the commemoration of the kings of France. This study of the chaplaincies and anniversary services established between 1108 and the early sixteenth century casts light on the memory network that develops around the abbey during this period, but also the evolution of the abbey’s policies toward the laymen. From the second quarter of the 14th century onwards, the abbots and chapter try to control the foundations flow (including royal ones). Furthermore, the priests of the collegiate church of Saint-Paul located near the abbey as well as parishes enjoying Dyonisian immunity were gradually associated with services at the abbey’s chapels and thereby incorporated into the Dyonisian community. Focused on the services performed within the abbey church and the establishments immediately dependent on it, this study aims to reconstitute a geography of memory at Saint-Denis. It reveals that the services performed at the different altars were strictly controlled, particularly in the restricted area of the chevet. Therefore, apparently from the time of Abbot Suger, each claustral official of the abbey was generally associated with a specific altar in the radiating chapels. This exclusivity thus distinguished Saint-Denis from other similar establishments, providing yet another example of the uniqueness of the royal abbey.

It presents the origin, the context, the development and the constitution of the Baptist Educational Corporation of Minas Gerais, as well as, its relationship with the Baptist denominational structure. It also describes the objectives, the importance, the functions and the legality of school chaplaincy along with the role, the educational formation and the ideal profile of a school chaplain. The school chaplaincy (or pastoral) is present in almost all denominational educational institutions, that is, those which are connected to a religion and adopt the faith and life principles of its religious tradition as guidance of their political and pedagogical actions. The goal of school chaplaincy is to minister to students, employees, teachers and families of an educational institution based on the faith principles of the institution, helping them in their emotional, spiritual and moral needs, helping them to overcome their difficulties and daily fights, so as to make the process of total development of the person flow smoothly. The SBME chaplaincy like all others has to face a lot of challenges related to faith confession principles, school internal and external environment, society problems and a series of other problems the contemporary young student has to face which are described in this paper. In order to face and respond to these many challenges and demands, the chaplaincy of the SBME uses a series of strategies and develops several actions. Among the strategies and possibilities of pastoral actions, the project Ethics and Character in the School is accentuated. The project has as its goal to help students, employees and teachers to build character qualities and ethic principles, along the educational process of the school and also to be used in life(AU0 / Este trabalho estuda a capelania escolar desenvolvida no Sistema Batista Mineiro de Educação (STBM), organização formada por seis colégios, uma faculdade, um instituto de idiomas e três projetos socio-educacionais, localizados em Minas Gerais, mantida pela Jutna de Educação da Convenção Batista Mineira, instituição das igrejas batistas de Minas Gerais.

Flávio Ricardo Hasten Reiter Artigas 30 June 2008 (has links)
An hermeneutic interpretative research in wesleyan heritage texts, with emphasis on the concept of "knowledge and vital piety", considering the practices of School and Universitary Pastoral Ministry, in the Methodist education instituition. Fenomén náboženství v ozbrojených složkách / The Phenomenon of Religion in Armed Forces

LAŇKA, Jiří Ignác January 2010 (has links)
At my place of work, we are considering the possibility of spiritual service inception within the Czech Republic Police force. One of our models, which we stem from, is the Czech Army Military Chaplaincy. We, therefore, go into the history of its inception and its current activities, at a fairly great length. Furthermore, we have mapped the Czech Republic Police activities, whose character matches the activities of the military chaplains. By comparison and evaluation of the researched information, we will set the possibility and desirability of chaplaincy and spiritual service within the Czech Republic Police. Basic and key information was acquired by study of the literature and of the official internet sources. The additional and clarifying information was acquired through personal discussion and communication with professionals in various related fields.

William Andrew White Jr.: Portrait of an African Canadian Pastor, Chaplain, and Activist

Brown, Dudley A. 11 1900 (has links)
The role of the African Canadian pastor transcended the responsibilities of a religious leader of a local church to become the leader of the African Canadian community and its emissary to the larger white community. Through his exemplary Christian faith and practice, William Andrew White Jr. became a central figure in the African Canadian community. His role in African Canadian life was fluid and adaptive to the adversities of slavery, segregation, discrimination, and racism; over the years his role grew from spiritual leader providing care, self-esteem, and protection for his local church to also becoming one of polemicist, activist, and protest leader for the African Canadian community in general. Overall, this dissertation argues that the experiences gained by William Andrew White Jr. during the periods of Reconstruction and Redemption in the United States and the discrimination and racism he incurred in Canada, were foundational in shaping White’s theology. Additionally studying his influences and motivations assists in understanding White’s theology and his praxis for race relations and social justice; it is a theology that sought to foster racial harmony through black economic uplift and black socio-political engagement that laid the groundwork for the Canadian Civil Rights Movement. Ultimately, this dissertation argues that William White was a progenitor of the Canadian Civil Rights Movement and, while his national presence among the white community was not that of Martin Luther King Jr.’s, he did have a prominent presence among the black community in the Maritimes and, had he lived longer, may have become a significant national figure in Canada. Furthermore, the role he played setting the foundation for the Canadian Civil Rights Movement was similar to that of the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.

The history, role and influence of the South African military chaplaincy, 1914-2002

Van Niekerk, Brand 11 1900 (has links)
The work of the South African chaplains during the First World War was of an extremely high standard. The postwar military failed to recognise this contribution. In the 1920s and early 1930s the chaplaincy was allocated an inferior position within the military. It was only in 1938 that the first chaplains were appointed in the Permanent Force. During the Second World War the unwillingness of the UDF hierarchy to appoint a single chaplain as the head of a Chaplains' Branch influenced the ministry negatively. Inter-denominational issues were resolved on a basis of consensus amongst Principal Chaplains who were granted very little executive power. The establishment of the SA Corps of Chaplains in 1946 confirmed the permanency of the chaplaincy within the UDF. The appointment of the first Deputy Chaplain General in 1949 did much to ensure effective ministry. The discontinuation of this post in 1954 had a detrimental effect on the chaplaincy. With the establishment of the Department of Physical and Spiritual Welfare in 1966 no clear cut division was made between the responsibility for spiritual (pastoral) care and physical care (social welfare). This anomaly was rectified in 1968 when an independent directorate for the chaplaincy was created and in 1970 when a Chaplain General was appointed. The chaplaincy in South West Africa grew from a single chaplain at Walvis Bay in 1963 to an immense organisation with hundreds of chaplains. In 1980 the SWATF Chaplain Service was formed under command of its own director. The presence of SADF/SWATF chaplains in South West Africa ceased in 1989 with the implementation of UN Resolution 435. The 1990s was a decade of great transition and turmoil for the Chaplain Service. In 1994 the military chaplaincies of the TBVC countries, as well as members from MK and APLA, were integrated into the Chaplain Service. The implementation of the transformation policy of the Department of Defence resulted in the Chaplain Service becoming more representative of the communities it serves. / Theology / D. Th.
