This work deals with design and implementation of a methodology for testing RAM memories connected to an FPGA circuit on Combo cards. In theoretical part of the work RAM faults are sorted by the way they affect the function of the memory and the algorithms to detect them are specified. In practical part, the methodology for testing RAM memories located on Combo cards are proposed, implemented and verified. The NetCOPE framework was used for the implementation. Within the NetCOPE structure, the project was divided into a hardware accelerated application for an FPGA circuit and a software application for a host computer. The project was designed with respect to an easy transfer to other versions of Combo cards.

The thesis deals with the theory and design of the network traffic generator on the FPGA platform. The VHDL programming language is used for the description. The work involves getting acquainted with the development processes and design tools needed to create the overall project. It also includes familiarity with the necessary FPGA, NetCOPE and COMBO cards. Based on this information, was designed, tested and implemented packet generator project for the Combo-80G card. For implementation was used framework from NetCOPE.

Goal of this master thesis is to introduce and bring up basics and principles of NetCOPE framework in many details using "first approach" method for exploration of its internal structures - mainly focusing on application core using VHDL for focus itself. Furthermore, this knowledge is used for design and implementation of filtration system for network traffic with more details within phase of design in VHDL language.

The performance of the virtual switch Open vSwitch (OVS) is insufficient to satisfy the current requirements for link bandwidth of the server connections. There is an effort to accelerate the OVS both in the software and in the hardware by offloading the datapath to the smart network interface cards. In this work the COMBO card for 100G Ethernet developed by CESNET is used to accelerate the OVS. The suggested solution utilizes the firmware for FPGA generated from the definition in the P4 language to classify the packets in the card and DPDK for the data transfers and offloading the classification rules into the card. Forwarding of one flow with the shortest frames from physical to physical interface using one CPU core reaches forwarding rate of 11.2 Mp/s (10 times more than the standard OVS) with classification in the card and 5.9 Mp/s without classification in the card.

Many municipalities are finding it difficult to fulfill the task of receiving new arrivals and provide them with a home. What at first may seem to be a fast and easy solution is in reality a short--‐term and expensive quick fix. The aim of the thesis is to identify and compare  the today known short--‐ and long--‐term strategies for municipalities to settle new arrivals in Sweden. The current housing crisis, in combination with the new law, "lag om mottagande av vissa nyanlanda invandrare for bosattning", means that many municipalities are finding it difficult to handle the situation that has now occurred with the large and rapid increase of new arrivals. The law means that Sweden's municipalities will now receive a distribution of the new arrivals in accordance with the law on the reception of certain newly arrived immigrants for settlement, also know as the "residence law". Through a study of the market has six housing solutions been selected and studied. In addition, we have chosen to study seven different municipalities and management strategies when it comes to settlement, and those that have public housing; Botkyrka, Upplands Vasby, Huddinge and Stockholm, and those that do not have any public housing; Danderyd Taby and Nacka. To calculate and discuss the different  ccommodation solutions has five parameters been valued; initial investment, possible rent setting, timing, sustainability, durability and how it affects a declining housing shortage. Based on the parameters it was shown that "kombohus" was the main option, and buying and renting modular housing was the weakest option. Important parameters for assessing the municipality's work and strategies was how work is organized and coordinated, how they plan in a long term and how far they have come with a work in progress. The conclusion is that there is not a specific housing solution that can solve the housing problem for new arrivals. It is important for each municipality to have a combination of options to solve this puzzle.

Thesis (M.A. (Media Studies)) --University of Limpopo, 2014 / The purpose of this study was to investigate if there was any statistical significant difference in attitude towards Affirmative Action and job satisfaction of employees in the South African Broadcasting Corporation in Limpopo Province (SABC Limpopo Combo). The Attitude towards Affirmative Action Questionnaire (AAAQ) and the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (JSQ) were distributed among employees/journalists (N=86) who were randomly selected. The results were analysed using the Chi-Square test and the t-test. The results revealed no statistical significant difference in attitudes towards Affirmative Action among employees or journalists and no significant relationship between attitudes towards Affirmative Action and job satisfaction. However, results revealed that senior employees/journalists were more satisfied than junior employees/journalists in (1) pay and benefits, and (2) job activities/work itself. Recommendations were made, which may be considered during the interpretation of organisational turnaround strategies and employment equity in workplaces or in the media.

For laptop computers, the conventional internal antennas are usually used to operate in the WLAN system only, which can not provide sufficient and seamless services for wireless users. In order to overcome this problem, we propose some internal antennas having dual-/multi-network operation capability in this dissertation. Firstly, we present a combo antenna, which combines two shorted monopole antennas for operating in the WWAN/WLAN dual-network system. Secondly, we introduce a shorted monopole antenna through adding a parasitic element to enhance the impedance bandwidth for operating in the WLAN/WiMAX dual-network system. Thirdly, for achieving the compact-size antenna, we present a composite antenna which is composed of a ceramic chip and a printed radiating portion. Fourthly, we introduce a wideband shorted monopole antenna which can provide a wide bandwidth to cover the WPAN, WLAN, and WiMAX operations, and apply it to the MIMO system. Finally, we propose a coupling-type monopole antenna having multi-network operation capability and a compact size, which is about the smallest antenna for wideband operation in the laptop computer so far.

För att se vad som har påverkat beslutet om övergången och för att se hur kommunerna har gått till väga under processen mot införandet av den nya kontorsformen. / The purpose of the study was to create an understanding of the factors and motives behind the municipal transition from cellular offices to an activity based workplace. To see what influenced the decision about the transition and to see how the municipalities proceeded in the process of the new form of office.

This work deals with virtualization of computer systems and network cards in high-speed computer networks, and describes implementation of the SR-IOV virtualization technology support in the COMBO network card platform. Various approaches towards network card virtualization are compared, and the benefits of the SR-IOV technology for high performance applications are described. The work gives overview of the COMBO platform and describes design and implementation of the SR-IOV technology support for the COMBO platform. The work concludes with measurement and analysis of the implemented technology performance in virtual machines. The result of this work is the COMBO cards' support for the SR-IOV technology, which makes it possible to use them in virtual machines with wire-speed performance preserved. This allows future COMBO cards to be used as accelerators in the networks utilizing the Network Function Virtualization.

The master’s thesis consists of several parts. Describes the technology 10 Gbps Ethernet. Analyzer Ixia and Endace presents, especially their use for traffic analysis and stress testing the network devices. It deals with documents RFC concerning the routers and switch testing. Thesis includes the reports of tests switches and router performed by RFC 2544 and RFC 2889 documents. Part of the thesis is dedicated to COMBO FPGA cards. Documentations to the analyzers is created in this thesis and macro is on the CD for presentation of measurement results.
