Professionella samtal med barn i utsatta situationer : En kvalitativ studie om barnsamtal uitfrån socialsekreterarens perspektiv

The purpose of the study is to study social workers' experiences of communicating with children within the frame of child protection work. This includes the key factors that social workers experience in professional communication with children, how the conversations are designed and implemented, as well as the obstacles and opportunities that may arise in communication with children. The study is based on a qualitative approach, as the purpose of the study is to investigate the social worker's own experience and experiences of communication with children ´s. The empirical material of the study has been acquired through six semi structured interviews with qualified social worker in a children and family. The result shows that there are key aspects that play an important role in professional communication with children, one aspect was the importance of the circumstances and the environment of the conversation. The study shows that the social secretary uses different methods and tools in the implementation of child talks. The result identifies obstacles and opportunities in communication with children, an obstacle raised by social workers was situations where the child did not want to participate and an opportunity is a good conversation environment. Furthermore, the results of the study are discussed based on previous research and theoretical reference framework, which largely confirms what the social worker emphasized for the outcome of the study.

Syftet med detta arbete var att ur ett förskollärarperspektiv undersöka vilken synförskollärare har på kommunikationen i arbetet med barn i den dagliga verksamheten påförskolan. Syftet var också att synliggöra hur förskollärare ser på kommunikationenmed barnen, vilka dagliga praktiker de använder samt hur ett gott samspel och godkommunikation kan se ut. För att syftet skulle uppnås användes en webbenkät sommetod som innefattar svar från 59 deltagare. Analysmetoden som används i studien varen univariat analys som innefattar diagram för den kvantitativa delen samt en tematiskanalys för den kvalitativa delen. Resultatet visar hur förskollärare använder sig avmultimodalt perspektiv och använder kommunikation på olika sätt i den dagligaverksamheten. Kommunikationens betydelse, förskollärares förhållningssätt, denpedagogiska miljön, rutinsituationer och samspel är gemensamma teman i resultatet.Slutsatsen från studien visar att grunden till vilka möjligheter och förutsättningar barnges till kommunikation i förskolan, är beroende av vilket förhållningssätt förskollärarehar. Att det synliggörs hur de ser på sin kommunikation med barn, vilka kommunikativapraktiker de använder samt hur de beskriver en god kommunikation och gott samspel. / The purpose of this work is to examine from preschool teachers’ perspective the viewthey have on communication with children in everyday preschool settings. The purposewas also to make visible how preschool teachers view their communication with thechildren, what daily practices they use and how good interaction and goodcommunication can look like. In order to achieve the purpose, a web survey was used asa method, including responses from 59 participants. The analysis method used in thestudy was a univariate analysis that includes diagrams for the quantitative part and athematic analysis for the qualitative part. The results show how preschool teachers usemultidimensional meanings of communication in different ways in daily activities. Theimportance of communication, preschool teachers' attitudes, the pedagogicalenvironment, routine situations and interaction are common themes in the result. Theconclusion from the study shows that the basis for the opportunities and conditionschildren are given for communication in preschool, depends on the approach(förhållningssätt) of preschool teachers. It is made visible how they view theircommunication with children, the communicative practices they use and how theydescribe good communication and good interaction.

The submitted diploma degree thesis deals with the development of pre-reading literacy in family environment. The aim of this thesis is to find out which ideas about developing early reading skills parents have and how they build pre-reading skills in their children. The thesis is also focused on parent-child communication and child's vocabulary. The theoretical part defines basic terms relevant to the topic of reading and literacy. It offers characteristics of a pre-school child and his development in areas which are related to pre-reading literacy. The particularization of the term of pre-reading literacy and activities supporting literacy skills are presented as well.It defines the concept of family communication and child-directed speech. The final chapter of the theoretical part describes previous research that has been conducted in this field in the past. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on the study of research literature and crucial research. The practical part is devoted to an empirical study. It consists of five case studies which are focused on the analysis of video recordings connected to the development of pre-reading literacy in family environment. Syftet med denna studie är att identifiera socialsekreterarens framgångsfaktorer i samtal med barn. Studien tar utgångspunkt i socialsekreteraren perspektiv kring vad de tycker är det som får det att fungera isamtal med barn inom socialtjänsten. För att identifiera framgångsfaktorer i samtalet så blir det nödvändigt att även belysa när det fungerar mindre bra i samtal med barn.Studien är en kvalitativ intervjustudie där sex yrkesverksamma socialsekreterare intervjuats. Samtliga jobbar med barnsamtal på socialtjänsten inom Umeå kommun. Studien har tillämpat en semistrukturerad intervjuform och studiens data har bearbetats enligt konventionell innehållsanalys för att identifiera vad som möjliggör och vad som försvårar samtal med barn. Inledningsvis utgick inte studien från någon vetenskapsteoretisk grund men efter att resultatet bearbetats ansågs utvecklingspsykologisk teori tillämplig för att få en bättre förståelse för studiens resultat. De identifierade framgångsfaktorerna i samtal med barn utmynnade i vikten för socialsekreteraren att kunna känna tilltro för sin kompetens även när det finns organisatoriska utmaningar. Exempel på identifierade framgångsfaktorer är flexibilitet, trygghet i yrkesrollen, kunna skapa allians, nyfikenhet, förförståelse för barnets utveckling, att inte vara dömande i yrkesrollen samt att se till barnets bästa. Studiens slutsats belyser att socialsekreteraren blir det viktigaste verktyget i samtal med barn.

Komunikace sociálních pracovníků s dětmi / Communication of social workers with children.

Presented diploma thesis deals with the problematics of communication between the social workers and the children or adolescents. The first three chapters introduce theoretical starting points serving as the base for the following research. Attention is paid to the characteristics of social work, including its legislative definition and methods and techniques with regard to their use in contact with the child's client. The thesis also brings forward the role of the social worker. Briefly, the specifications of the child's age, that are to be taken into account in terms of social work, are addressed - mainly attachment issues and developmental aspects. The fourth chapter is spent on description of the survey involving 19 social workers from the South Bohemian Region. The survey showed, the social workers are familiar with the principles of social work with the children and adolescents and they are careful to follow them in practice. In communication with the children and adolescents they focus mainly on non-verbal communication, recognizing the difference between a child and an adolescent. Due to the respondents, the most important is the social worker's authenticity, the creation and maintenance of secure relationship and the consistency of verbal and non-verbal communication. Unfortunately, the social workers are mostly not interested in expanding their competencies in connection with the acquisition of new social work techniques suitable for communication with the children and adolescents.

Professionella samtal med barn i utsatta situationer : En kvalitativ studie om barnsammtal utifrån socialsekreterarens perspektiv

Studiens syfte är att studera socialsekreterares upplevelser av barnsamtal inom ramen för arbetet inom den sociala barnavården. Med detta innefattas att undersöka vilka centrala faktorer som socialarbetaren upplever är gemensamma i professionella barnsamtal, hur samtalen utformas och genomförs samt vilka hinder och möjligheter som kan uppkomma. Studiens empiriska material har införskaffats genom sex semistrukturerade intervjuer med socialsekreterare. Studien grundar sig på en kvalitativ metod. Studiens teoretiska referensram baseras på Haldor Øvreeide (2010), Ann-Christin Cederborg (2000) samt Greta Marie Skau (2007) och kommer att användas för att analysera studiens empiri. Resultatet visar att det finns centrala faktorer som har en betydande roll i professionella barnsamtal, en faktor var samtalets omständigheter samt skapa en relation. Studiens resultat visar också på att socialsekreteraren använder olika metoder som exempelvis tejping och verktyg som bland annat dockor i genomförandet av barnsamtal. Resultatet identifierar hinder och möjligheter i samtal med barn, ett hinder som lyftes fram av socialsekreterarna var situationer där barnet inte ville delta. En möjlighet är att en bra samtalsmiljö ger mer utförlig information om barnets situation utifrån barnets perspektiv.
