fato a aprendizagem. / The National Curriculum Parameters have as one of the general objectives for elementary school students to be able to `know how to use different sources of information and technological resources to acquire and build knowledge (BRAZIL, 1997, p. 69). Given this premise and the emergence of the use of information and communication technologies in everyday social life, education has also been the target of technological nature solutions, which can provide reference materials for teachers
and students through the use of Information and Communication Technologies and the development of a reflective work on digital language. In this way, this study is justified by the need of working the Information and Communication Technologies in school environments and, more precisely, with the digital language. The objective of the research is to survey the online platform features Curriculum + with respect to the concepts of Hypertextuality, Usability and Interactivity and point out some factors that can assist teachers in the use of this platform with regard to Portuguese. As a theoretical basis, the studies on the use of Information and Communication Technologies in the school environment are used, as well as studies on the language concepts that can help the theoretical basis for the use of digital language. Then studies on some characteristics of the Information and Communication Technologies are used as Hypertextuality, Usability and Interactivity. The results showed that the Currículo+ platform can become an important support tool for the Portuguese teacher. However, they also point to the need of observing the quality of digital resources available so that the resource really assists the learning process.

A study to identify and evaluate the roles and challenges of modern art museums - with special reference to the incorporation of digital technology in art museums in the Gauteng province of South AfricaMosako, Daniel Rankadi January 2017 (has links)
This research briefly introduces the roles of art museums and presents selected digital technology implementation challenges and benefits in art museums in the Gauteng Province.
An art museum is a building or space for the exhibition of work of art, usually visual art. Art museums collect objects of art and other historic artefacts that are documented and exhibited for different purposes, such as aesthetic value, social, historic cultural and educational, significance and research values that are traceable to a specific society or group of individuals.
In South Africa, particularly in the Gauteng Province, art museums are failing to keep pace with international trends about the use of digital technology. It is, therefore, important for art museums as information dissemination centres to incorporate digital technology in their daily museum business as it may offer the opportunity for these museums to become more effective and competitive in the global information society.
A literature review is done to understand the trends of different digital technologies in other first world international cities. The examined literature revealed that the Internet and other technological applications of the new millennium prompted a re-evaluation of cutting edge museum research, education roles, and documentation capabilities. Consequently, digital technology became an integral component of the digital policies of many art museums, allowing them to satisfy the demand for online information sharing abilities. A qualitative research approach together with a constructivism educational theory is used to fully understand South Africa’s position regarding the use of digital technology. In South Africa, digital technology usage in art museums is predominantly limited to email exchange, electronic invitations to exhibitions, data capturing of collections and viewing of basic websites. In other words, digital technologies are not optimally used in the South African art museum environment.
The study explores the benefits of digital technology interfaces at art museums against fixed traditional art museum information dissemination practices. The objectives of the study are to create an awareness of best practice in the implementation of digital technology interfaces at art museums in Gauteng.
The findings in this study indicate that digital technologies have proved to be useful in several spheres of public life resulting in the popular utilization of e-learning, e-mail, e-health, e-government and e-commerce. It is, therefore, proposed that art museums in South Africa embrace digital technologies to enhance the transformation of these museums. In essence, the implementation of digital technologies such as ‘virtual tours’ and other popular social media platforms and applications may raise the profile of art museums and market their contents to wider audiences, and may also help to popularise their heritage collections for leisure and scholarly purposes. / Mini Dissertation (MCHS)--University of Pretoria, 2017. / Department of Arts & Culture / University of Pretoria / Visual Arts / MHCS / Unrestricted

The impact of disruptive innovation on the demand for coworking spaceBronkhorst, Johan 26 January 2021 (has links)
This thesis investigates whether the phenomenon of companies that seek to disrupt markets through innovation play a role in the rise of coworking spaces. The city of Cape Town in South Africa was selected as the location for this study due to an increase in the establishment of coworking spaces and the appearance of the aforementioned phenomenon. The premise for this thesis is based on the demands for commercial real estate, which has changed as a result of the implementation of new technologies and the sharing economy. This change is argued to have altered the way companies utilise working environments which, in turn, amended the requirements of these companies. The study seeks to establish whether coworking spaces serve as adequate supply to these demands or whether the increase in the establishment of coworking spaces is unaffiliated. Grounded theory was used as the research method in this study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven respondents that were all active founders of coworking spaces at the time of the study. Additional documentary evidence was collected in cases where it was available. An analysis of the responses indicates that there is a strong relationship correlation between the rise of disruptive innovation and the increase in available coworking spaces. This relationship correlation was based on the value that flexibility, affordability and community facilitation held for companies that associate with disruptive innovation. These companies were mainly start-ups, skunkworks teams, research and development departments and other forms of companies that primarily work within the industry of technology. Limitations to the study included that additional documentary evidence was limited due to poor record-keeping of active memberships by coworking space operators, in addition to restrictions that were placed on accessing company information such as revenue statements. The research findings provide academic support and market-related evidence to developers and investors within the real estate sector that could enable them to make more informed decisions relating to the supply of coworking spaces. Moreover, the findings shed light on the general views shared by the founders of the coworking spaces. These views should provide insight to those interested in the industry, and more specifically within the Cape Town region.

Upotreba informacionih tehnologija u nastavi-stavovi i mišljenja nastavnika i učenika / Use of information technology in teaching - attitudes and opinions of teachers and studentsIlić Silvia 25 September 2020 (has links)

Uvođenje informacione i komunikacione tehnologije zahteva novi i drugačiji pristup i
kompetencije nastavnika. Nastavnici moraju imati dobro opremljene računarske
laboratorije, dostupan internet, visokokvalitetni obrazovni softver, obuku za profesionalni
razvoj i snažnu podršku administracije i škole.U tezi je prikazano trenutno stanje upotrebe IKT-a među nastavnicima i učenicima u vojvođanskim školama.
/
This thesis aimed to examine the possibilities of applying information and
communication technologies, multimedia and the Internet in primary schools’ lessons, as well as to evaluate how these technologies can improve the learning process. The attitudes and opinion of teachers and learners on their use of ICT, multimedia technology and Internet was investigated. Teachers' assessment of the use of ICT in their preparation for teaching in various fields of science, language, and humanities was separately analysed. The introduction of information and communication technology requires a new and different teacher approach, as well as different competencies. In order to enable a good education to learners, teachers need to have well equipped computer labs, available Internet, high-quality educational software, professional development trainings, and strong support by the administration and the school. The research of this thesis strives to give a picture of the current state of ICT use among teachers and students in schools in Vojvodina, to point out the existing problems and shortcomings, and to try to give an adequate proposal of solutions for overcoming existing problems. It can be described as a need and desire to define the changes that have to be made in order to improve the current situation and to eliminate existing shortcomings regarding the implementation of ICT and the Internet in the teaching process. In addition to appropriate technical equipment it is necessary to provide teachers with required competency to use it. Teachers need to be motivated to increasingly use ICT not only in school but also at home, while preparing teaching material. The obtained results of the survey conducted within this thesis can greatly help improving the quality of teaching using ICT, multimedia and the Internet. It is very important to adapt the process of acquiring knowledge to the learners, not to require the learner to adapt to the process. The application of ICT allows the planned material to be adapted to reality, that is, different levels of learners' knowledge, making sure that learners can more easily learn new material. Teaching using ICT should therefore be recognized as one of the modern approaches that has its adequate role in the educational system.

Can You Hear Me? Reflexive Feminist Methodologies and Diasporic Self-Representation in the Digital AgeRais, Saadia Subah 08 July 2016 (has links)
In this exploratory thesis project, I consider what emerging approaches we can take as social scientists to showcase and critically engage self-representations of diasporic individuals, who often lack visibility and legibility within the dominant cultural archive. Filmmaking as a social research practice can provide rich audiovisual data, physical and social access to materials for nonacademics, and opportunities to document and share subjects' comments and settings without the limitations of transcription. This is especially salient in the emerging media landscape of Web 2.0, where digital communications technology applications (such as Facebook, Skype, and Snapchat) are accessible by a global audience, and can act as tools for cultural identity production by diasporic individuals.
This project documents the experiences of several first- and second-generation Bangladeshi American immigrants in relation to digital communications technology advances within the past decade, for the purposes of collecting and sharing stories of diasporic individuals, offering a venue for self-expression through empathetic interviewing and collaborative oral history methods, and contributing to the American cultural archive in the context of emerging media and academic landscapes. The full project is comprised of this text document, alongside a short documentary film containing portions of audiovisual data from interviews which can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh9puazpdrw. / Master of Science

This dissertation deals with multivariate categorical data of a raw data set produced by a questionnaire designed for a research purpose. However, in order to analyze a questionnaire and extract some fruitful results, that includes a great number of questions-variables, we must first impose a structure on it especially on situations this specific structure is missing. Whenever the structure is imposed, by using statistical techniques and methods designed for categorical data, we can then study more efficiently the relations among the variables in concern for further analyses. The capacity of these models is presented through an application from the social sciences on issues concerning schools and pupils in primary education. The analysis on a smaller subset is further explored by describing the issues of Correspondence Analysis, and Multiple Correspondence Analysis. With these methods, we focus on the interpretation of the results on the graphical displays of the data but also on the estimated category scores of the variables. The above methods described in this dissertation and the results after implementing them are all critically compared with each other at each chapter. This gives to the interesting reader the possibility to fully understand them and to obtain additional information on their implementation.

Evaluation of competitive intelligence software for MSC-status small and medium-sized enterprises in MalaysiaJuhari, Ariff Syah January 2009 (has links)
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia, particularly In the information and communications technology (lCT) sector, are faced with an increasingly volatile environment. The Malaysian business scene has opened up their markets to the world where smaller businesses find themselves competing with newly launched multinational subsidiary and subdivision companies, along with the large local firms. The Malaysian Government has launched several campaigns and support for smaller local businesses to be more competitive and to continuously compete at par with these larger companies. This research project supports the Malaysian Government's objective of instilling a more structured approach towards a more competitive SME by focusing on the management of competitive information related to these companies. In recognising the rising need for competitive support, management and executives are increasingly relying on a concept called Competitive Intelligence (Cl), a systematic and ethical process for gathering, analysing, and managing information that can affect a company's plans, decisions, and operation. In managing competitive information, several companies have emerged especially to develop online tools and software that would enhance the Cl process and the value competitive intelligence brings to organisations. The success of these Cl software tools depends, however, on the sophistication of an organisation's understanding of the Cl process and scope of usage. Different companies derive different values from different approaches to competitive intelligence, and therefore require a flexible tool that is very specific to the company's needs. Therefore, this research investigated the structures and contexts of Malaysian Small and Mediumsized Enterprises (SMEs) based on competitive intelligence (Cl) concepts to derive a more customised approach to the use of Cl for SMEs in the ICT sector, as well as in the selection of appropriate Cl software. Mintzberg's approaches to analysing organisational structures and contexts, Bouthillier and Shearer's Intelligence Cycle, Herring's Key Intelligence Topics, and Davis' concept of effectiveness were used in two main stages. The first stage involved identifying the nature and range of SMEs, which exist under Malaysia's Multimedia Super Corridor, a government benchmarking body for local businesses. This gives an account, on the basis of cluster analysis, of a taxonomy of SME categories consisted of ten clusters. The relationships between the categories were also examined in the first stage of the research. The relationships and clusters found in the first part of the research offered the basis for the second part of the research, which constructs the criteria for evaluating online tools and software for competitive intelligence. The evaluation criteria are then used to evaluate eight Cl-ready software packages in finding suitable tools for the different categories of SMEs. Finally, the research concludes with a study of the prospective users' perceptions of effectiveness in SMEs drawn from the identified clusters. This 'multiple constituency' approach to understanding effectiveness evaluates both Davis' concept of effectiveness (usefulness), as well as the differential evaluations of perceived effectiveness. The research findings provide evidence of a range of SME structures in a variety of contexts. Levels of importance placed on different levels in the Cl process are identified, as well as aspects that need support, automation and/or augmentation. The software evaluation in the second part of the research provided ten recommendations of suitable software package(s) for each SME cluster. However, an initial review by SME managers of perceived effectiveness mostly did not reveal results that were parallel to the findings from the software evaluation study. All in all, the research confirms that SMEs can be analysed by clusters but further research would be necessary to confirm the effectiveness of using the recommended Cl software over a longer period of time.

Analyzing the Role of the State in the Promotion of the Information RevolutionGould, Sherry Lynn 02 May 2007 (has links)
This paper analyzes the relationship between effective state intervention and Information Communications Technology (ICT) dissemination. I theorize that investment in ICT leads to benefits for all firms; without government intervention and incentives, firms will have little reason to invest substantially in this arena. I demonstrate how the collective action problem leads to a lack of private investment as highlighted by the prisoner’s dilemma game. I conduct a multi country regression test to ascertain the factors that influence the dissemination of IT. I then analyze the impact of the United States and South Korean government on ICT by process tracing the role of each government in the dissemination of ICT. My results support my hypothesis. The policy implications for this study are the increase in the level of US government involvement in ICT through encouraging private sector participation, creating new laws, and increasing access to technology in public education.
