Sensibilité du consommateur au gaspillage alimentaire : conceptualisation, antécédents, et conséquences / Consumer's concern for food waste : conceptualization, antecedents, and consequencesLe Borgne, Guillaume 23 October 2015 (has links)
Food waste occupies a growing space in news and political agenda. Yet, studies on food waste are still relatively rare in marketing science, and they do not take into account the way consumers are concerned by food waste. In this work, we propose a definition of consumer's concern for food waste (CCFW) and, we validate a measuring scale for this construct. Then, we test a modeldescribing the relationships between concern for food waste (CFW), its antecedents and, behaviors linked with food waste at home. Quantitative analysis reveals a two-dimensional concern. The first dimension is "individual" (close to the person) and the second one is more "global" (general). Individual concern has a stronger impact on the adoption of waste-reducing practices than global concern. Education received regarding food waste and “concern for purchasing power” are, as expected, antecedents of CCFW. Finally, we give recommendations for governments, consumers and managers, in the light of these results, to help reducing food waste.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MUSIC THERAPY INTERVENTIONS WITH PERSONS OF CONCERN: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEWLauzon, Grace 01 January 2019 (has links)
Immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, and stateless persons, collectively known as “persons of concern,” often have unmet mental health and wellness needs as a result of trauma. With a diverse variety of interventions and approaches, the use of music therapy has the potential to meet the needs of persons of concern. In the present study, the researcher conducted an integrative review to examine the use of music therapy with persons of concern. After conducting a hand-search of music therapy journals and an advanced keyword search through internet databases, the researcher found 17 studies that met inclusion criteria. There were ten studies in which participants were immigrants, six studies in which participants were refugees or asylum seekers, and one study in which participants were displaced persons. Refugees’ countries of origin were: Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Chile, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Iran, Liberia, North Korea, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sudan, and Vietnam. Immigrants’ countries of origin were: China, Haiti, India, Korea, Latin America, Malaysia, Mexico, Romania, Russia, and Vietnam. Interventions used in the studies were (in order of frequency) singing, songwriting, instrument play, improvisation, lyric analysis, music listening, music imagery, and music-based relaxation. The needs of persons of concern, music therapy interventions, the rigor and quality of music therapy research, and implications for future clinical practice are discussed.

Student and Parent Views on School and Community Strengths and ConcernsDanielson, Tricia Hill 01 May 2003 (has links)
The Lincoln Elementary School needs assessment surveyed students in the third through fifth grades and their parents in order to identify strengths and concerns in their school and community. It also investigated whether or not participants considered family counseling skills as a concern or a strength. The results showed that the concerns and strengths identified by participants fell into three categories: family, community, and school. Parents' primary concern was children watching TV, while children's primary concern was getting enough sleep. Group differences were identified by ethnicity, gender, and marital status. These differences included English/Spanish skills, children showing respect for authority, and Accelerated Reader Program. Family counseling services was not identified as a concern or strength. However, results indicate that schools are a promising arena for marriage and family therapists to offer their skills in providing needed services.

Women and the Environment: Mediating and Moderating Effects of Gender and Demographic Characteristics of Environmental ConcernPrice, Carmel Elizabeth 01 August 2011 (has links)
In this study I examine the relationship between environmental attitudes and gender. First, I explore variations across previous studies to determine patterns regarding gender differences in levels of environmental concern. Second, I look at the mediating effects of gender and several socio-demographic characteristics (age, race, class, education, political orientation, residence, martial status, number of children, religious identification, and scientific knowledge) on a variety of measures of environmental concern to assess the extent to which gender operates through other variables as it predicts levels of environmental concern. Third, I look at the moderating effects of gender on the same list of socio-demographic characteristics to determine the extent to which gender intersects with other variables to shape environmental attitudes.
I conduct a systematic review of literature using 22 peer reviewed journal articles, which include 128 measures of environmental concern, published between 1995 and 2010. I also test for mediating and moderating effects of gender and various socio-demographic characteristics on 14 measures of environmental concern using data from two sources: the General Social Survey Environment II: 2000 questionnaire and the American National Election Study 2008 Times Series Pre-election Survey. To test for mediating and moderating effects I employee several methodological techniques including principal component analysis, model building, linear regression techniques, and non-parametric regression methods.
The results of this study show that, in general, women do express a greater concern for the environment than men. However, gender in conjunction with other socio-demographic characteristics has the potential to produce different effects than when gender is considered alone. This study supports the idea that the intersectionality of gender and other socio-demographic characteristics is of great importance and should not be ignored.

A False Sense of Security: The Social Security DebateShipman-Sercu, Chris 01 January 2010 (has links)
My motivation to write this thesis is based on the controversy surrounding the Social Security system that has recently infiltrated the media. Through my research, I have discovered the debate concerning Social Security is not a recent development but has existed since the 1930’s. Many sources are warning citizens to no longer count on Social Security as they most likely will not receive benefits until a extremely old age if they receive benefits at all. Current retirees are fearful of either a decrease in benefits or not receiving the money they contributed to the system through the years of employment at all. Proposals and options for overhauling the system have moved to center stage in politicians’ agendas and numbers of solutions have surfaced. Unfortunately, this debate is creating a huge divide between party lines in Congress. Some argue for more government control while others advocate privatization. The goal for this thesis is to perform a cost/benefit analysis of the two ideologies and determine which is more practical and realistic for both the government and the people.

Environmental attitudes and how they affect purchase intentions of environmentally friendly automobiles : An emperical study on Chinese students at Jönköping UniversityHenning, Olof, Karlsson, Samuel January 2011 (has links)
Consumers today are becoming more aware of how their behavior and use of resources affect the environment. It is becoming increasingly important for companies to understand consumer’s attitudes in order to predict their behavior. Extensive research has been conducted on the attitude-behavioral relationship in various fields of study. However, no research has been made on the attitude towards environmentally friendly automobiles and how it affects purchase intentions. Our research has been made in collaboration with Volvo Car Corporation, which in 2010 was acquired by Geely Automobile. The acquisition meant that an opportunity presented itself on the Chinese market, which today is the largest automobile market in the world. The thesis will focus on young Chinese consumer’s attitude toward the environment and how this may affect their purchase intentions towards environmentally friendly automobiles. The basis for our reasoning is that the factors environmental values, environmental knowledge and responsibility feelings make up an individual’s environmental attitude. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how environmental values, environmental knowledge and responsibility feelings affect purchase intentions towards environmentally friendly automobiles among young Chinese consumers. We have used a quantitative approach in our collection of empirical data. With the help of a web-based self-completions survey we managed to send out the questionnaire to all Chinese students studying at Jönköping University and received a high response rate of 65%. We based the design of the survey on a model from Kaiser, Ranney, Hartig and Bowler (1999). The major findings from our research conclude that the used model does not substantially explain purchase intentions of environmentally friendly automobiles. Our research suggests that the factors environmental knowledge and responsibility feelings are not significant when predicting intentions to purchase environmentally friendly automobiles. However, the factor environmental values proved to be strongly correlated when predicting intentions to purchase environmentally friendly automobiles.

Societal Value Change and Change inProduct Portfolio : A Case Study of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA with Special Considerationof ‘Green’ Product Innovations in Germany 1970-2010Sweeney, Julia January 2011 (has links)
BackgroundThe biggest issue of our time is the environmental damage we have caused. Publics are becomingincreasingly aware of this challenge: environmental concern has risen. This change toward greenvalues is commonly referred to as “greening of society”. Having generally been considered theenvironmental villains, companies are now also seen as the solution to the environmentalproblem. More and more companies are going green as they have realized the potential of greeninnovations to yield competitive advantages. Therefore, a greening of the business domain canalso be observed. However, only little research has been conducted on why and howenvironmental issues are integrated into the development of new products. Considering thatchemical companies are the epitome of the environmental villains, investigating the case of amanufacturer of branded chemical goods that has been the market leader in the highly contesteddetergent market for more than a century – despite or even because of – pursuing an ecoleadershipstrategy becomes more intriguing.AimThe aim of this study is to investigate the how and part of the why of integrating environmentalissues into product development by analyzing and discussing Henkel’s environmentallycompatible product innovations and their relation to the greening of society.MethodThe method of choice is content analysis. Drawing on secondary data, the research strategy isqualitative and the design is longitudinal while the approach is descriptive and idiographic.ResultsSocietal values and Henkel’s product portfolio seem to move in the same direction as both havebecome greener and greener ever since the 1970s. However, concluding that the portfolio changesas a response to the value change is premature, especially because the innovations are often theresult of decades of research and development. Also, the portfolio has not become greener at anincreasing pace because the corporate goals have changed. Rather, the greening progress has beenaccelerated by technological progress. While over the years Henkel’s innovations have offeredgreen benefits at an increasing proportion, this development is not strongly reflected inadvertisement. Until recently green values have – if at all – only been addressed rather as an aside;the most emphasis has always been on performance. While the latest positioning of innovations astruly green indicates that promotional strategy now acknowledges that preserving the environmenthas become a mainstream value, societal value change has been more strongly reflected inadvertisement in terms of values associated with convenience rather than with the environmentand sustainability.

Personalized Marketing : An invasion of privacy or an approved phenomenon? An empirical study of how organizations can respond to consumers’ concern over the threats of online privacy.Birgisdottir, Johanna, Amin, Hiral January 2012 (has links)
The authors of this study analysed the increasing use of personalized marketing and consumer concerns regarding the access to personal information. The purpose was to find out how companies could react to these concerns. Several theoretical concepts were explored, such as Personal Data, Personalized Marketing, Privacy Concerns, Privacy Policies, Consumer Trust and Consumer Behaviour. Facebook Inc. was analysed as an example to address the problem. An online survey was conducted on university students and two interviews were performed with representatives from the Data Inspection Board in Sweden. The main findings were that individuals seem to approve of personalized marketing but are concerned about their privacy. Companies should therefore inform their consumers on how personal data is used for personalized marketing and respect their rights and take governmental regulations into consideration.

Hur formulerar revisorn fortlevnadsbedömningar i revisionsberättelsen?Thunfors, Jonas, Nordqvist, Fredrik January 2011 (has links)
Over the last decade, there have been several scandals which have sparked debate about the audit profession. Stakeholders believe that the auditors have not performed their job in a professionally correct way, when they questioned the viability of companies that subsequently went bankrupt. Previous research has shown that the auditors have poor accuracy when assessing the "going concern" and when auditors issue 'going concern' warning they formulate them in different ways. The auditing standard 570 found a formulation that auditors should use, but the formulations are affected by auditor competence and independence. Our study aims to identify auditors' accuracy in terms of "going concern" for Swedish companies that have gone bankrupt. Furthermore, we identify and categorize how "going concern" warnings have been formulated. We began with the materials we received from the Social Sciences at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, which contained information from the enforcement officer concerning legal persons in Sweden who has been declared bankrupt by the District Court from January to August 2010. We coded data from companies' annual reports that show that the auditors have low success rates (16 percent) regarding "going concern" warnings. When the auditors question the viability, are clear warnings in the majority. In that category is the category with the formulations according to the audit standard 570 in majority. In summary, both previous research and our findings that the auditors have low accuracy on the evaluation of "going concern". If the assessment of the "going concern" shall remain with the auditors, we propose on the basis of our results that the auditing standard 570 should be mandatory to use.
