Ovlinění pohybového režimu dětí mladšího školního věku / Effecting exercise regimen of children at younger school age

Řebřina, Radek January 2013 (has links)
Title: EFFECTING EXERCISE REGIMEN OF CHILDREN AT YOUNGER SCHOOL AGE An alternative form of triathlon contest as a possibility to build a positive relationship to physical activity in children Objectives: To compare motion and diet patterns and basic parameters of body constitution in selected children divided into two groups: a random population and a population of children devoted to a specific physical activity - triathlon. The aim was to focus on contests organization and management, identify its weak points and suggest a suitable alternative with the ambition to bring children closer to any of disciplines triathlon is consisting of or to triathlon itself in a longtime fashion. Methods: Body height and weight measurements, BMI calculations. Questionnaire survey. Arrangement of a triathlon contest in its new alternative way. Evaluation. Results: A group of children actively doing triathlon shows more balanced distribution of body weight in comparison with data obtained when measuring random children during PE lessons at schools where cases of obesity and underweight were found. Triathlon contest model based on adult category is not convenient for children at younger school age considering their development characteristics. Arrangement of a non-competitive triathlon contest confirmed its positive...

O concurso público no projeto urbanístico: São Paulo, 1998 - 2004 / The public contest in the urbanistic project: São Paulo, 1998 - 2004

Lodi, Leticia Takeda 09 May 2008 (has links)
O concurso público no projeto urbanístico é o foco desta pesquisa. / The public contest in the urbanistic project is the focus of this research. Within a larger universe of interventions in urban structures already consolidated, the contests represent a small fraction of these projects, but with different features: the contests are events of great visibility and dissemination in the media, catalyze discussions about the city in various segments of the society, generate a large involvement of the all architects and make more democratic the access of architects to the projects. This selection system of projects is a complex process and it deserves attention. Not only focused on the published results and winning projects, but also for all its stages: historical reasons that lead the promotion of these events, source material released to the competitors, the client demand and finally the project chosen as winner The contests have the purpose to create discussions in a specific area of the city and select the best to influence on it. The major part of these results doesnt bring real improvements and are forgotten shortly after their publication. This research intends to expose the history of 4 of these events and their analysis. Based in the city of Sao Paulo, between 1998 and 2004.

Understanding counter-terrorism policy and practice in the UK since 9/11

Sabir, Rizwaan Sabir January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation is an examination of the UK’s counter-terrorism policies and practices that have been adopted since the attacks of 9/11 in the United States. Using a theoretical framework of ‘power’ and ‘hegemony’ to guide the research, and an investigative research approach, the dissertation examines how the UK has, in the name of confronting an ideologically and religiously motivated global opponent, enacted a two pronged approach that integrates key aspects of counterinsurgency doctrine and practice. The first ties into the use of ‘coercion’ that is undertaken under the policy heading of ‘Pursue’ and covers activities that revolve around the use of policing, military, juridical and executive powers to investigate, prosecute and take preventative and pre-emptive action against suspected terrorists and the second ties into the use of ‘propaganda’ and ‘communication’ that is undertaken through the ‘Prevent’ policy, which attempts to challenge and counter those individuals who do not promulgate unlawful or violent views but support al-Qaida’s grievances and ideology and are thus claimed to be more likely to become involved in terrorism. In order to inform Prevent activity, information and intelligence – a cardinal principle of counterinsurgency – is a prerequisite. This dissertation therefore shows how intelligence and information is collected and used by examining Prevent activity at UK universities. It then proceeds to contextualise counter-terrorism policy and practice through an examination of counterinsurgency doctrine, and in particular, ‘strategic communication’. The dissertation argues that the integration of key elements of counterinsurgency doctrine into counter-terrorism policy and practice suggests that the policy, rather than being a mere response to terrorism, is an organised and strategic effort to use coercion and propaganda to control the behaviour and activity of Muslim communities and thereby constitutes a form of state-terrorism.

A Comparison between the Swedish 3G Beauty Contest and the UK 3G Auction

Welin, Erik January 2006 (has links)

This thesis compares the two different version of public franchise bidding for awarding 3G licenses used in Sweden and the UK, respectively a beauty contest and an auction. The fact is that the Swedish beauty contest has failed to tackle many of the problems discussed in connection with public franchise bidding in an effective way. Sweden has first of all had problems with enforcing the ambitious coverage criteria. The UK has on the other hand succeeded in tackling the problems and raised governmental revenue of £22.5bn through the auction.

The conclusion is that this thesis confirms the existing literatures’ critique of the Swedish beauty contest. However, this thesis also provides a new perspective to the existing literature. The main conclusion is that the auction has locked the prices at a high level and externalised negative price and investments effects through the international operators’ behaviour onto consumers in other countries.

Wångne, Nicole, Pustovoyt, Anna January 2013 (has links)

The representation of male and sexism in male beauty contest discourse in Hong Kong

Lam, Ka-yee, Carrie, 林嘉宜 January 2013 (has links)
Despite the huge public attention received by the male beauty contest discourse in Hong Kong as reflected in extensive local media coverage, studies on the discourse are rare. Concerning the limited literature in the male gender studies, this dissertation addressed the issue and examined the representation of and sexism against male in male beauty contest discourse in Hong Kong. Two latest publicized major male beauty contests in Hong Kong (TVB Mr. Hong Kong Contest 2011 and ATV Mr. Asia Contest 2012) were analyzed using frameworks of ‘dialectical-relational approach’ to Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 2009), the experiential metafunction of Systemic Functional Linguistics (Halliday & Christian, 2004) and a combination of sexist characteristics suggested by influential theories such as Objectification Theory (Fredrickson & Roberts, 1997). This study integrated findings across analyses of the contests in terms of their linguistics and multi-modal texts as well as culture of context. The findings showed that representations of men portrayed were seen to be degrading men. There was also clear evidence of sexism against male realized through language and visual aspects. It was concluded that the representations and sexist elements were possibly generated from the competitive rivalry between the two broadcasting companies and the change in public perception on gender characteristics. It also suggested that stricter regulating guidelines are needed to secure the professional ethics in media production in Hong Kong. This study grounded future research on the application of SFL framework as a useful quantitative analytical tool to supplement qualitative research in gender studies in media discourse. / published_or_final_version / Applied English Studies / Master / Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics
