Locus of control as a moderator of the relationship between influence and procedural justice

Flinder, Sharon W. 24 November 2009 (has links)
The present field experiment investigated the interaction between influence and locus of control in determining procedural justice and satisfaction, in a classroom situation. Perceptions of influence accounted for unique variance in procedural justice and satisfaction. The proposed moderating effects of locus of control on the influence-procedural justice and influence-satisfaction relationships were not supported. Unfortunately, the manipulation of influence was unsuccessful, and several methodological considerations are proposed for future research. / Master of Science

Cultural control and the "culture manager": employment practices in a consultancy

Grugulis, C. Irena, Dundon, T., Wilkinson, Adrian January 2000 (has links)
Yes / This article explores the use of `company culture¿ as a means of management control. It reports on research conducted in a consultancy that aimed to secure loyalty from its employees through a conscious policy of organised `play¿ at company socials. Employees were given a certain amount of freedom over their working lives in exchange for accepting company regulation of their social time. Here it is argued that this normative control differs from historical attempts to ensure that employees were of good moral character. In earlier interventions social and community obligations were emphasised, now every `virtue¿ encouraged is designed to be exercised in the workplace, often at the expense of the individual or the community. Further, that while control through organisational culture does have some of the advantages claimed for it in the prescriptive literature, it also extends the employment contract to areas previously outside the managerial prerogative.

AL Hareere, Rafeh Ibraheem Taleb, Bekic, Kenan January 2018 (has links)
Abstract Title: The Relationship between Leadership and Organizational Culture Level: Master Degree in Business Administration  Authors: Al Hareere, Rafeh and Bekic, Kenan Supervisor: Maria Fregidou- Malama  Examiner: Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury Date: 2018-10-10 Aim: The aim of the study is to explore the relationship between leadership and organizational culture in a financial organization. The study has been conducted in Handelsbanken, Sweden. Method: The study is based on ten qualitative interviews with managers and employees in Handelsbanken, Mid-Sweden offices. We used inductive approach by comparing findings with existing theory. Result & Conclusions: Leadership depends mostly on corporate values and individuals´ personalities within SHB.  We noticed predominantly notion of transformational leadership, consisting of democratic, empowering and participative leadership. SHB´s corporate culture is strong and cohesive, resembling mostly guided missile type of culture. We argue that leadership and corporate culture affect each other, in case of Swedish Handelsbanken through employee motivation and empowerment and internal recruitment and development of future managers. Suggestions for future research: We suggest a study where the possible existence of transactional and laissez faire leadership could be proven within a financial organization as well as studies on other types of corporate culture and conducting similar studies within financial organizations to make comparisons between the organizations. Contribution of the thesis: This study contributes to theoretical knowledge development about leadership and corporate culture and the interconnection between them within a financial organization, as presented in case of Handelsbanken, Mid-Sweden offices. Key words: Leadership, corporate culture, transformational leadership; democratic, empowering, participative leadership; guided missile corporate culture, financial organization

Úloha firemní kultury v nadnárodních společnostech / Role of corporate culture in multinational companies

Koldinský, Martin January 2011 (has links)
I focus on the role of corporate culture and its impact on functioning of multinational companies in my diploma thesis. The first part is focused on theoretical definition of corporate culture, cultural dimensions and other terms related to the topic. Besides the classical theory, alternative approaches and theories connected with psychology and behavioral economics showing possible negative impacts of implemented corporate culture are described in the first part. Corporate culture of two companies, namely CSOB and a "Big4" representative, is described in the second part. The third part is purely practical and proves importance of corporate culture for job seekers.
