Extensible Software Architecture for a Distributed Engineering Simulation Facility

May, James F 03 October 2013 (has links)
A need has arisen for an easy-to-use, flexible, transparent, and cross-platform communication backbone for configuration and execution of distributed simulations and experiments. Open source, open architecture, and custom student written pro- grams have extended the capabilities of educational research facilities and opened the way for the development of the architecture presented in this thesis. The architecture is known by the recursive acronym hADES: hADES Architecture for Distributed Engineering Simulation. Included in this thesis is a discussion of the design and implementation of the novel hADES software architecture for Ethernet and wireless IEEE 802.11 network-based distributed simulation and experiment facilities. The goal of this architecture is to facilitate rapid integration of new and legacy simulations and laboratory equipment to support undergraduate and graduate research projects as well as educational classroom activities and industrial simulation and experiments.

Podpora QoS v MANET sítích / Support of QoS in MANET networks

Figurny, Roman January 2012 (has links)
The theoretical part of Master's thesis has been dealing with issues of MANET networks, issues of providing quality of services in MANET networks and analysis of various implementations of quality of services in these networks. At the start of the practical part of this thesis was described modified OLSR process model with support of quality of services. In simulation program OPNET Modeler was designed a topology of MANET network, firstly was run a simulation of this network without any support of quality of services and then was run a simulation with support of quality of services. The results of these simulations were analyzed, compared and graphically interpreted. In the next part of this thesis was designed a real MANET network with OLSR support. OLSR network communication was captured with the use of Wireshark. In the last part of this thesis was firstly described a meaning and functions of plugins in OLSR implementation and then was developed a plugin which is responsible for sending messages which contain a state of the links between nodes of MANET networks.

Enhancing Internet Security and Mobility with Host Identity Protocol: Integration, Testing, and Optimization : Simulation of HIP-VPLS using Mininet / Förbättring av säkerhet och rörlighet på internet genom Host Identity Protocol: integration, testning  och optimering

Christensson, Martin, De Paz, Edwin January 2024 (has links)
This project aims to enhance the capabilities of the Host Identity Protocol version 2 (HIPv2) within the Mininet network emulator and PyHIP framework. The objectives include integrating HIPv2 into Mininet to facilitate testing of HIPv2 environments and optimizing PyHIP for real-world applications. Integration with Mininet involves running the HIP daemon within a virtual host environment and ensuring successful ping replies between HIP-enabled Mininet hosts. Optimization efforts focus on potentially changing cryptographic algorithms. These enhancements aim to improve the testing and practical usability of HIPv2 in network emulation. The tests conducted for this thesis involved only two hosts, which limits the comprehensiveness regarding scalability and performance in larger network setups. While the initial findings are promising, a more extensive evaluation with varied scenarios and additional hosts is critical to fully grasp the system's capabilities. Regarding performance of the unmodified version, tests reveal that TCP window sizes ranging from 128,000 to 225,000 bytes and buffer settings at 3,000 $bytes$ were optimal for optimizing throughput. The last objective of throughput optimization, transitioning from PyCryptoDome to the cryptography library boosts throughput by approximately 20 Mbits/s, reaching up to 59 Mbits/s. Furthermore, it is important to acknowledge that modifications were not extended to the symmetric cryptography libraries, like AES, which could potentially greatly influence system throughput. Therefore, we recommend to further extend these modifications to validate throughput improvements across all modified cryptography algorithms. Depending solely on a single high-performing setup may mislead the assessment of the changes, as various iPerf3 test combinations could yield different outcomes. Thus, it is essential to recognize that these limitations may impact the credibility of the findings.

Exorcismus v Mk 5,1-20 a zlí duchové v židovských tradicích / Exorcism in Mark 5:1-20 and evil spirits in Jewish traditions

Ondra, Michal January 2017 (has links)
ONDRA, Michal. Exorcism in Mark 5:1-20 and evil spirits in Jewish traditions The goal of this master thesis is to introduce the readers to Jewish demonology, how it evolved, what influenced it, and how it was reflected in the works on the evangelists when they wrote down the stories of Jesus' confrontations with the forces of darkness. At first you will be introduced to the term "demon", which is followed by an excursion into the Hellenistic culture, the period of the Old and the New Testament and, of course, into the intertestamental literature. It is specifically the intertestamental literature which is the most relevant, since it is a very rich collection of works many of which contain references to demonology and angelology. In the second half of this thesis you will find an analysis of Mark's fifth chapter (Mk 5:1-20), which is subsequently compared to similar stories found in the gospel of Luke and Matthew. The final chapter of this thesis shortly reflects the influence of the Jewish tradition on the demonology of Mark's gospel.

Γκοζντάρη, Νατάσα 02 May 2011 (has links)
The main aim of this M.A dissertation is to explore the sense of the daimonion of Socrates as it was mainly examined by the philosopher Proclus. We will try to identify the content, scope and intentions, but also the methodology by means of which the Neoplatonist scholarch himself approached the pedagogical relationship between Socrates and Alcibiades, in order to understand its deeper content. Our textual source is Proclus' Commentary on Plato's Alcibiades I, 85.19-93.28, which refers to Alcibiades I, 103 a-b. This is the starting point of communication between Socrates and Alcibiades, that is to say the communicative relationship between the teacher and the student, the content of which is repeatedly defined by the divine inspiration of Socrates, the Socratic daimonion. In the first chapter of our study, we attempt a retrospective research on the concept of Socrates’ daimonion as it appeared in the frame of modern philosophical research. The second chapter is a brief introduction to the Platonic dialogue Alcibiades I and to Proclus’ Commentary on Plato's Alcibiades I, highlighting the synthesis which is evident in the philosophical project of the Neoplatonist philosopher. The third chapter is an attempt to analyze a brief part of Proclus' commentary, aiming to provide answers to "accusations" attributed by some against Socrates’ divine inspiration with reference to the corruption of the young Alcibiades. We also attempt to describe the relevant concepts and reach some conclusions after the refutation of these accusations. We also proceed to a compilation of a concise philosophical dictionary of concepts-terms used by the Neoplatonist philosopher in his attempt to prove the divine inspiration of Socrates to be both a good and providential power with the possibility to acquire foreknowledge. This in turn makes the relationship between the teacher and the student pedagogically and personally necessary and gives it divine properties. The dissertation belongs to philosophy of religion, metaphysics, and history of philosophy, as well, since it examines a stage in the evolution of a theory developed in the 4th century B.C.

Astrological implications in the 'Lot oracle' PGM 50

Gieseler Greenbaum, Dorian, Naether, Franziska 30 July 2018 (has links)
In previous editions of the magical papyri, PGM 50 has been considered as a lot oracle. In this article we propose a reinterpretation of the text as a source for astrology rather than for lot oracles. This reinterpretation is based on PGM 50’s astrological vocabulary. We provide a new translation based on this evidence. We further discover parallels to the second-century C.E. astrologer Vettius Valens in the verso of the text, which emend the original text as given by Wessely and Preisendanz.

Could open source projects be used partly or completely to fulfill the needs for routing-applications?

Adugna, Leykun, Laic, Goran January 2020 (has links)
They are looking for software that has the necessary properties required to run their business and possibly help them avoid unnecessary costs and save time. This thesis has examined the needs of routing application for companies and presented a suggestion by using self-developed testbed. The testbed can be used by companies to decide the beneficial of implementing the desired routing application software. The routing application that gave the best result in this study is FRRouting (Free Range Routing). The solution proposed by the study has been proven to be effective through a pilot project where open source program has been successful by retaining the expected quality, functionality in a cost-effective way.
