The problem of this study was to analyze the following five factors related to juvenile delinquency in Montague County, Texas, during 1947 and 1948: first, causes and control of juvenile delinquency; second, personal data about thirty-three juvenile offenders; third, their offenses; fourth, disposition made of the charges by the judge of the juvenile court; and fifth, the present behavior status of the offenders.

The purpose of this study involved illustrating how Nonviolent Communicationsm (NVC) training affected conflict resolution in a case study of Tekoa Boys Institute, a juvenile residence and school institution. Resolution was defined as "the process of resolving a dispute or a conflict, by providing each side's needs, and adequately addressing their interests so that they are satisfied with the outcome" (Dictonary.LaborLawTalk.com 2006). The following predictions concerning this research are: 1) At the Tekoa Boys Institute, the NVC trained residential staff's involvement in nonviolent resolution will increase more from the pretest to the two year posttest than the no-NVC trained residential staff. 2) At the Tekoa Boys Institute, the NVC trained residential staff's involvement in violent resolution will decrease more from the pretest to the two year posttest than the no-NVC trained residential staff. 3) At the Tekoa Boys Institute, the NVC trained residential staff's involvement in instigating conflicts will decrease more in the two year posttest when compared to pretest than those residential staff not trained in NVC. Results were found confirming the first two predictions in this sample with a statistical significance at the .05 level. The problem of this study is two-fold: (1) to determine the nature and extent of juvenile delinquency in Montague County, Texas, for a five-year period from 1942 to 1946, inclusive; and (2) to ascertain the factors which contributed to juvenile delinquency during this period.

Thesis (M Social Work (Social Work))--University of Stellenbosch, 2007. / The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the experiences and perceptions of male juvenile delinquents from a multidimensional perspective in order to provide guidelines for effective service delivery. The motivation for this study is the current trend in South Africa regarding youth, crime and families and the necessity to have a multidimensional view on these phenomenas. The contribution that this study can make towards crime prevention and rehabilitation of male youth offenders is a further motivation for this study. The research was done based on an extensive literature study, which firstly focused on the conceptualisation of a multidimensional perspective as framework from which the family experiences and perceptions of male juvenile delinquents could be described. This conceptual framework was put together through the compilation of the systems-, ecological-, ethnic-sensitive- and strength perspectives. Subsequently both male juvenile delinquents and their families were described from a multidimensional perspective. The empirical investigation of the study gave a description of the family experiences and perceptions of male juvenile delinquents from a multidimensional perspective. From this multidimensional description of the experiences and perceptions of the juvenile delinquents, findings of the literature study was confirmed namely that the experiences and perceptions of the juvenile delinquents was influenced by various factors on the micro-, meso- and macro levels of functioning. In light of the findings derived from the literature study and empirical research, conclusions and recommendations were made concerning the phenomena under investigation. The recommendations focused on the utilisation of a multidimensional perspective during service delivery to juvenile delinquents and their families.
