Výrobky s chráněným označením EU a jejich pozice v regionálním cestovním ruchu / Products with Protected Designations of the European Union and Their Position in Regional TourismLicková, Kamila January 2016 (has links)
The master thesis deals with products with protected designations of the European Union. The main objective of the master thesis is to evaluate the importance of the chosen product with protected designation of the EU in regional tourism and analyse the perception of the product by a producer and by tourists. The sub-objective is the description of the European system of food labelling. The thesis is divided into five main chapters. The first part explains basic concepts which are related to the thesis. The second chapter introduces the best known food quality labels. Greater attention is devoted to the description of the food protection system of the EU. The third chapter deals with the characteristics of the chosen region Beskydy-Wallachia. The second part of this chapter is focused on the chosen protected product Štramberské uši. The forth chapter includes a structured interview with the chosen producer of Štramberské uši and a survey research, which was conducted in two phases. The last chapter contains the evaluation of the implemented survey. The main finding of this thesis is the fact that a relatively high percentage of respondents know the product Štramberské uši. An interesting finding is the fact that only a small portion of them know that the product Štramberské uši is the holder of the protected designation of the European Union. The chosen producer of Štramberské uši sees the main benefit of the label in greater publicity. Among problems he ranks the enforceability of the label and lack of general promotion of Štramberské uši.

The battle over federal Wilderness designation of Bureau of Land Management lands in southern Utah has entered its third decade. Throughout this lengthy debate numerous stakeholders have maintained involvement, including members of Utah's conservation community. Two of the most prominent wilderness advocacy groups in Utah are notable not only for their sustained involvement with the issue, but also for their divergent positions on how to resolve this public land dispute. This research examines those two organizations, the Utah Wilderness Association and the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, through an analysis of their respective structural, organizational, philosophical, and tactical perspectives.
Ultimately, the background of each organization's leadership, their organizational structures, their ability to mobilize resources, and their distinctive wilderness philosophies offer an understanding of how each organization perceived its mission and its ability to provide a construct for resolution of the Utah Wilderness debate.

AN INVESTIGATION OF SELECTED FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE MIDDLE-LEVEL TEACHERS' PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CHOICESShafer, Frances Keller 01 January 2008 (has links) (PDF)
AN ABSTRACT OF THE DISSERTATION OF Frances Keller Shafer, for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Curriculum and Instruction, presented on October 16, 2008, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. TITLE: AN INVESTIGATION OF SELECTED FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE MIDDLE-LEVEL TEACHERS' PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CHOICES MAJOR PROFESSOR: Dr. Joyce Killian Professional development is defined as methods to provide teachers with the knowledge and skills to improve instruction and increase student achievement. However, the availability of and participation in professional development activities often falls short of meeting both the teachers' and students' needs. This study investigated selected factors that influence middle-level teachers' professional development choices. The purpose of this study was to add to the researcher's knowledge about professional development choices made by practicing middle-level educators and to add to the body of knowledge about the factors influencing professional development choices. The research question was To what extent are middle-level teachers' professional development choices associated with selected factors? The factors investigated were as follows: (1) a greater than 50% assigned time curriculum director with responsibilities for coordination of professional development, (2) meeting criteria for designation as a middle school and (3) the availability of and participation in professional development activities at the school level, the district level, and the higher education level. No significant differences at the 0.05 level were found between the selected factors: (1) the presence or absence of a greater than 50% assigned time curriculum director and (2) designation of the site as a middle school. However, the findings indicated there was a significant difference between school, district and higher education levels in participation, F(2,151)=5.94; p=0.003. Teachers' participation in higher education level professional development activities/program was lower than participation in professional development activities at the school and district level.

Effects Of The Soil Properties On The Maximum Dry Density Obtained FroArvelo, Andres 01 January 2004 (has links)
In the construction of highways, airports, and other structures, the compaction of soils is needed to improve its strength. In 1933 Proctor developed a laboratory compaction test to determine the maximum dry density of compacted soils, which can be used for specifications of field compaction. The Compaction of soils is influenced by many factors, the most common are the moisture content, the soil type and the applied compaction energy. The objective of this research is the analysis of the maximum dry density values based on the soil classification and characterization. The method of choice in the determination of the maximum dry density from different soils was the Standard Proctor Test following the procedure for the standard Proctor test as is explained in ASTM Test Designation D-698. From this investigation, the maximum dry density of eight types of sands was obtained, the sands were classified by using the Unified Soil Classification System. The influence on the maximum dry density of the type of sands, type of fines, amount of fines and distribution of the grain size was determined, followed by a sensitivity analysis that measured the influence of these parameters on the obtained maximum dry density. The research revealed some correlations between the maximum dry density of soils with the type of fines, the fines content and the Uniformity Coefficient. These correlations were measured and some particular behavioral trends were encountered and analyzed. It was found that well-graded sands have higher maximum dry density than poorly graded when the soils have the same fines content, also it was encountered that plastic fines tend to increase the maximum dry density.

Beyond the Terrorist Label : How Five Palestinian CSOs Experience and Resist Terrorist AllegationsMichold, Alma January 2024 (has links)
This thesis investigates the terrorist designation issued by Israel against six Palestinian civil society organizations in 2021. The organizations are based in the West Bank and remain designated as terrorist organizations according to Israeli law, despite rejections and condemnations by the European Union (EU), the United Nations (UN), and the United States (US). The investigation builds on an interpretive approach and in-depth semi-structured interviews with five of the six designated organizations. By using the theory of ontological counter-securitization to investigate a case of shrinking civic space, this thesis brings the theory to a new context. Given that the context of Palestinian civil society is understudied, the aim is to contribute new context-specific findings as well as theoretical knowledge. More specifically, this approach is aimed at better understanding views and means of resistance among the interviewed organizations. The findings show that the five organizations view their terrorist designation as a way to defund Palestinian civil society. It is further implied that the terrorist designation has impacted the organizations' relationship with their donors. To maintain their work, the organizations have undertaken a form of risk management. The analysis also shows that enhanced recognition, cooperation and conviction have constituted means of resistance. The main finding of the analysis concerns the construction of a new identity among the designated organizations. It is argued that this identity construction is a specific form of resistance against the shrinking civic space. The findings are central to enhancing the understanding of how security practices are resisted in asymmetric power relationships.

Controversy on Virus Designation: Alkhumra Sive Alkhurma Hemorrhagic Fever FlavivirusLiebert, Uwe Gerd 29 July 2022 (has links)
Intervirology has decided to publish the ensuing letter
by Madani et al. [1] and a response by Alzahrani et al. [2]
concerning a prior publication [3] . As the letter by Madani
et al. was obviously not accepted by EID, Intervirology
feels that it is fair and appropriate to provide the authors
the opportunity to discuss what they see as substantial
errors in the work of Alzahrani et al. [3] .
Taxonomy is apparently a matter that raises emotions.
Disagreements between researchers on designation of a
new virus have occurred in the past, one only has to remember
the issue on HTLV-III versus LAV between renowned
groups of researches that was eventually cleared.

Potential för automatisering av referensbeteckningar inom CoClass-ramverket / Potential for Automating Reference Designation within the CoClass FrameworkVarghese, Siby Susan, Hazem, Somayyeh January 2024 (has links)
In construction projects, effective communication and categorization are vital. CoClass and the Reference DesignationSystem (RDS) provide clear frameworks to facilitate this. CoClass is a classification system created to uniformlydescribe construction systems, aiming to avoid misunderstandings and ensure precise representation. RDS is aninternational naming convention for labelling systems and their elements. Reference Designation (RD), the outcomeof RDS, is a unique identifier that is both human and machine readable. To access or reuse this data in the future, itcan be published on the web. Despite the availability of modern classification systems for years, many companies stickto their old classification systems due to the significant time and cost required for upgrading. Therefore, this studyaims to explore the automation of RD generation in construction projects utilizing CoClass and RDS. Additionally, itseeks to enhance data accessibility and integration by generating URIs for RDs using ontology. The objective is todemonstrate the potential for cost and time savings through automation. A case study investigating six buildingcomponents within an office space, extracted from a BIM model, is carried out. Leveraging IfcOpenShell and Dynamoscripts, CoClass parameters are added to BIM model and used to automate RDs. The BIM data, structured as aknowledge graph, which then supported the development of ontology. The study results demonstrate successful partialautomation of RDs and RD based URIs, showcasing the potential for efficient data representation and exploration inSemantic Web applications. The study concludes with recommendations for future research and the importance ofAutomating RDs within the CoClass Framework.
