Bipolär sjukdom - ur ett existentiellt perspektiv / Bipolar disorder - from an existential perspective

Rusner, Marie January 2012 (has links)
Aim: The overall aim was to create knowledge about what it means to live with bipolar disorder from an existential perspective, both for individuals with the diagnosis and for their close relatives. Method: An existential perspective in this context entails that it is explored and described from a lifeworld perspective of individuals who in various ways experience that which is termed as bipolar disorder. The lifeworld phenomenological approach Reflective Lifeworld Research (RLR) was used in the four empirical studies. Meaning-oriented interviews and analysis were conducted following the leading methodological principles of the chosen scientific approach. A synthesis, based on lifeworld hermeneutic existential philosophy, then presents how it is possible to understand the perspective of individuals with bipolar disorder and their close relatives as a coherent whole. Findings and conclusions: A magnitude and complexity of experiencing, which means that life with bipolar disorder is characterized by extra dimensions, specific tension and contradictions, has been elucidated. Knowledge of the meaning of these aspects enables for the persons with the illness and for their close relatives to understand, to put words to, and to communicate how their life is and what they need, which in turn enhances their ability to influence their lives. It also increases the opportunities for professional caregivers to develop care, both in content and organization, so that it can meet the actual needs of those concerned in an adequate way. Living with bipolar disorder means so much more than the usual description with changes between episodes of depression and mania. The diagnosis “bipolar disorder” thus appears to be an inadequate label that only reflects the more obvious and visible dimensions of the illness, while those that characterize life in its entirety remain hidden. The thesis also shows that the importance of the common everyday life of persons with bipolar disorder and their close relatives should be highlighted as the most important factor in a liveable existence. A change in the view of mental health care is thus needed; a change that is characterized by consensus, collaboration and transparent communication between the person with the illness, their close relatives and mental health care. The common goal should be about meeting actual needs, and to strengthen a profound connectedness in order to make everyday life more liveable.

Cuamba Municipality, the capital of water? : A case study of the inclusion of female interests in water governance in Cuamba municipality, Mozambique.

Abrahamsson, Therese, Gyllin, Elisa January 2016 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of this research is to examine if female interests have been included in different levels of water governance in Cuamba municipality, Mozambique in order to understand if gender equality and women empowerment is being addressed at the grassroots level. In Sub-Saharan Africa women generally have the responsibility of fetching water and are therefore directly affected by the quality and accessibility of water and sanitation services. Though gender mainstreaming and policies addressing gender equality has been adopted in Mozambique, the actual difference that these measures have made to the lives of women in Mozambique is questionable.  A qualitative single case study has been conducted, by interviewing government institutions, the private sector and civil society actors at district and municipality level in Cuamba. The findings reveal that it is the municipality government, FIPAG and the traditional leaders that are the main actors with the power over the distribution of water in Cuamba and through a joint effort the water situation has improved a lot in recent years. The interest in water among women was mainly focused to having a water source while the main interests among men was to have a shorter distance as well as shorter queues to the water source. An abductive method of the analytical framework consisting of four dimensions of water governance and rethinking em(power)ment, gender and development has been used to guide the analysis of the findings in a more comprehensive manner thus investigating the power structures in each dimension of water governance with a focus on women empowerment. The result indicates that women living in the urban areas were more empowered in all notions of power due to better access to information and education thus giving them more time and individual knowledge to collectively and individually demand power over the distribution of water. Due to lack of empowerment among women living in the rural areas, these women demanded less regarding the distribution of water and had less individual understanding of water governance. Furthermore the interests among women living in the rural areas were mostly included in the decision-making processes as it generally concerned having access to a clean water source. As the women in the urban areas demanded more and had more interests in water governance it became clear that the female interests in the urban areas were not included in decision-making. By including more women in decision-making bodies in water governance and putting more emphasis on education for women these issues could be addressed.

Serious violent offenders : Are they unique in the offendingbehavioural profile?

Mesanovic, Adi January 2016 (has links)
Introduction. Serious violent offenders and their offending behaviour stood in focus of thisstudy. Scientific literature tends to classify offenders into non-violent or violent; however,it is known that within the area of violent crime, dimensions of offending behaviour such asgoal-directedness, provocation and planning can be expressed differently. The present studyuses these dimensions to evaluate the construct of serious violent offending by analysingdifferent cases, comparing their offending behavioural profiles and evaluating at what levelthese profiles are consistent with the common psychopathic offending behaviour.Methods. Verdicts and Preliminary investigation protocols of nine Swedish offenderslabelled as seriously violent were used to gather the information from scene investigations, autopsy reports and offender/victim interrogations in order to describe the crime history andcrime dynamics of the cases which served as a basis for assessing different dimensions, using the values from a violent incident coding sheet.Results. Cases of serious violent offending displayed heterogeneity rather thanhomogeneity in the offending behaviour. Homicide offenders demonstrated a mixed patternof behaviour compared to sex offenders who showed a more homogeneous profile withtypically goal-directed, unprovoked and impulsive behaviour, also being more consistentwith the offending behaviour commonly displayed by psychopathic offenders.Conclusion. Based on the dimensions analysed, a universal serious violent offendingbehavioural profile does not seem to exist. More criminological research with a largernumber of subjects is required, however, findings from this study make it arguable tosuggest that sex offenders might benefit from treatment focusing on improving their selfcontrolcompared to homicide offenders where aspects of emotional regulation seem to beof even greater importance. / <p>2016-05-27</p>

Beredning av landsbygdsnät Restenäs-Andorra i Uddevalla kommun / Preparation work of the rural network Restenäs-Andorra in Uddevalla

Beyrouti, Magdalena, Larsson, Patrik January 2016 (has links)
This thesis is about how preparation work is accomplished by contracts and permit search to network planning and dimensions. The requirement for reliable electric power increases because electricity is such an important part of our society. Large disruptions cause significant costs for electric distribution companies and customers. . To increase reliability and make the power grid weather secured, overhead lines are replaced with underground power cable. The preparation work is preformed to weatherproof the electric power grid in Restenäs-Andorra outside Ljungskile in the municipality of Uddevalla, by placing power cable in the ground instead of overhead power lines. The project will be implemented in connection with the development of communal water and sewer to reduce the cost of excavation. The result of this preparation work includes a new 10/0,4 kV substation, four cable boxes together with 1200 m of high voltage power cable and 800 m of low voltage power cable. The electric transmission network has been placed in the same excavation as water and sewer as long as possible. The substation and cable boxes are placed for easy access and to create a good mesh. A P2-calculation has been created to get an overview of the costs of the project.

Trends in Strategic Planning in Private Social Service Agencies: A Test of the Ramanujam and Venkatraman Planning Model

Gilbertson, Diana L. 12 1900 (has links)
This study modified the Ramanujam and Venkatraman (1987) questionnaire that was used to develop their model of planning system dimensions and planning effectiveness, and tested the model on a sample of private social service agencies. The criterion measures were level of planning sophistication, agency size, perceived environmental uncertainty, and relative competitive position. The sample was randomly drawn from private social service agencies which were members of the Community Council of Greater Dallas. Telephone interviews with fifty executive directors were conducted by a trained, impartial interviewer. Stepwise discriminant analysis was used to predict group membership between informal and formal planners. Of the nine dimensions in the model, three dimensions correctly classified 84 percent of the sample. The three dimensions were fulfillment of planning objectives, use of decision making techniques, and lack of resistance to planning. The level of perceived environmental uncertainty was another criterion set. Directors who perceived high uncertainty paid more attention to the external environment, used more decision making techniques, and relied on functional specialists when planning. Large and small agencies were classified by their annual budgets. Stepwise discriminant analysis using the planning system dimensions failed to reject the null hypothesis. Agencies reporting strong relative competitive positions placed greater emphasis on seeking information for planning from external sources. These agencies also reported less resistance for planning within their organizations, fulfillment of more planning objectives, and a flexible planning system. The discriminant analysis correctly classifed 74 percent of the sample. Finally, the study provided some baseline information on the use of planning techniques by private social service agencies. Just over half of the sample reported having written strategic plans covering at least three years.

Současná pracovní migrace do České republiky: Syntetická studie modelů integrace imigrantů ze třetích zemí / Current labour migration to the Czech Republic: The synthetic study of integration models of the third country nationals

Střechová, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
TITLE: CURRENT LABOUR MIGRATION TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC: THE SYNTHETIC STUDY OF INTEGRATION MODELS OF THE THIRD COUNTRY NATIONALS The aim of the thesis is to describe a process of an integration of eight groups of third country nationals in Czech society by using findings of several researches conducted in Czechia since the late nineties of the 20th century. The information about immigrants from Russia, Ukraine, China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Arabic countries and about immigrants from countries of Sub-Saharan Africa are structured in accordance with a concept of integration as a multidimensional process, suggested by Friedrich Heckmann and Wolfgang Bosswick. The work reveals a high internal diversity of researched groups in terms of a type of a residence permit which individuals possess, socioeconomic attributes, phase in a life cycle of individual, relationship of individual to the country of origin and his or her future plans about settlement in Czechia. These diversities are reflected in a number of different patterns and levels of integration of compatriots in a spatial, structural, cultural, interactive and identification dimension of integration. There is a research perspective change in the closing part of the thesis. This change is done in order to highlight those kinds of migrants'...

Hodnocení dimenzí zdravotního stavu u pacientů se spondylarthritis ankylopoetica pomocí dotazníku SF-36 / Guest dimensions of health status in patients with spondylarthritis ankylopoetica using the SF-36th

Petrtýlová, Radka January 2014 (has links)
Title: Guest dimensions of health status in patients with spondylarthritis ankylopoetica using the SF-36th Objectives: The major aim of the diploma thesis was the study and the evaluation of the quality of life of patients with the spondylarthritis ankylopoetica in the Czech Republic. Methods: The own research was conducted using the survey method by means of the standardized questionnaire Short Form 36 (SF-36), which deals with the Health Related Quality of Life . The Czech version of the SF-36 survey translated by MUDr. Petr, Ph.D. (2000) was applied. In order to reach the main aim of the thesis the research was conducted in a group of patients with spondylarthritis ankylopoetica (n=101) and among the same number of the general Czech population members. The achieved results were divided into particular age categories in the both groups. The statistically significant differences between the two analysed samples were subsequently verified. Results: The mean age of the patients with spondylarthritis ankylopoetica was 51,6±14,9 years, whereas it reached 52,3±15,5 years in the sample of the general population. In the majority of the dimensions of the SF-36 questionnaire related to the physical health (physical functioning, role physical, bodily pain and general health) achieved the patients...

Security perception within and beyond the traditional approach

Malec, Mieczyslaw 06 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / The term "security" has always been vague in terms of its definition. After the end of the Cold War, however, this vagueness increased as new paradigms emerged. Those studying security need a better understanding of the term "security" to deal with complex issues within the broadly understood discipline of security studies. This thesis describes the uncertain nature of security by analyzing: (1) various definitions of security and some of the terms directly related to it in different contexts; and (2) the empirical meaning of security by examining threats as indicators of "insecurity," based on the different characters of threats, and levels of analysis from the field of international relations. The thesis argues that regardless of the vague meaning of the term "security," empirically its parameters are quite certain and definable by the specification of threats as indicators of insecurity. This clarification of the meaning of security studies, in turn, makes it easier for scholars and policy-makers to deal with this increasingly important sphere of human life. / Captain, Polish Army

Interkulturní komunikace (Češi vs. Němci) / Intercultural communication (Czechs vs. Germans)

Lanča, Adam January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis is about intercultural communication and is focusing on communication between Czechs and Germans. Its aim is to discover potential cultural differences between Czech Republic and Germany and to analyse the extent to which they influence Czech-German communication and cooperation. While the first three chapters provide the theoretical background, the fourth chapter applies the theory to the particular context of Czech Republic and Germany. It focuses on Czech-German intercultural communication and examines communication between Czechs and Germans in transnational companies. Furthermore, it analyses Hofstede's indexes between Czech Republic and Germany and compares Czech and German cultural standards. Although the cultural differences are relatively small, their consequences should not be underestimated.
