Previous issue date: 2015-03-09 / Estudo de um projeto de inclusão social para catadores de lixo reciclável, o Pimp my Carroça. Ao partir da análise da exclusão social e da afirmação da identidade cidadã, discute o fenômeno da injustiça social, do consumismo, e o papel dos projetos de inclusão social num contexto de crise ecológica, em que busca desvendar o tipo de inclusão pretendida para os catadores beneficiados pelo Pimp my Carroça. Faz a análise da dinâmica informacional do projeto, fundamentada pelo mapeamento das interações entre os atores, possibilitando revelar os modos de disseminação de sua dimensão simbólica e de mobilização da sociedade civil. Somada à categorização das visões de ambos os grupos, catadores e idealizadores do Pimp, demonstra-se que o projeto lida com a contradição de buscar incluir os catadores de recicláveis no mundo do consumismo e da desigualdade social, o qual transforma o lixo em meio de vida para muitos indivíduos e que deseja combater. O estudo conclui que se faz necessário um pacto entre sociedade civil e Estado sobre a revisão das formas de utilização de recursos naturais, mas que a efetiva solução está no alcance da justiça social. / This is a study of a project for social insertion of dustbin men called Pimp my Carroça. It analyzes the phenomena of social exclusion and the validation of citizenship to enable the discussion of social injustice, consumerism, and the role of social insertion projects in a context of ecological crisis, trying to unveil the type of insertion Pimp my Carroça aspires for the dustbin men it benefits. It analyzes informational dynamics of the project based on the mapping of Pimp´s actors’ interactions to reveal how the project´s symbolic dimension is disseminated and civil society is mobilized around its cause. Added to the categorization of the view of both Pimp´s beneficiary and benefiters this work shows that the project deals with the contradiction of willing to include the refuse collectors in a world of consumerism and social inequality the project fights against, where garbage is turned into a mean of living for many individuals. It
concludes that the revision of the use of natural resources is only possible if comes up from a pact between civil society and the State, although effective solution relies on the reaching of social justice.

Impeding What It Aims to Improve? : A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Swedish National Strategy for Regional DevelopmentLovén, Viktor January 2022 (has links)
In a world of systemic environmental destruction and growing social inequality, it is important to explore how decision-making institutions communicate about development and how they attempt to achieve social and environmental sustainability. The institutions define the problems, suggest the strategies, make the policies and set the targets in order to address the present socio-ecological crisis. Using the following key research question, this study focuses on one of these institutions, the Swedish Government: What ideologies and discourses underpin the Swedish Government’s National Strategy for Sustainable Regional Development Throughout the Country 2021-2030, and how consistent are they to the purpose of the strategy? In order to answer the question, this research uses critical discourse analysis based on Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional model for empirical research in communication, culture and society. Through a framework of postdevelopment and postcolonial feminist theories, this study questions mainstream discourses that are still today reinforced by decision-makers and practitioners within regional development in Sweden. It further examines a potential discourse paradox in the national strategy: In order to solve social and environmental problems, the document promotes economic and technological solutions that are based on the same logic of infinite growth, unidirectional progress and competitiveness that may have caused the problems. Through explaining and discussing the discourses within a wider social context, this analysis concludes that the Swedish national strategy for regional development reinforces discourses that are problematizing and may impede the purpose of contributing to social, economic and environmental sustainability throughout the country. The study discusses how this can have negative effects on social and environmental relationships not only in Swedish regions, but also globally, and suggests ways for future regional development to become more contributive to social equality and environmental protection.

No / In this paper, we argue that two key trends – an unfolding ecological crisis and a reduction in the amount of (cheap) energy available to society – bring into question both the relevance and the resilience of existing educational systems, requiring us to rethink both the content and the form of education in general, and peace education in particular. Against this background, we consider the role education might play in enabling citizens and societies to adapt peacefully to conditions of energy descent and a less benign ecological system, taking seriously the possibility that there will be fewer resources available for education. Drawing on Wes Jackson’s and Wendell Berry’s concept of an education in ‘homecoming’, and on E.F. Schumacher’s concept of ‘appropriate technology’, we suggest a possible vision of peace education. We propose that such education might be focused around ‘appropriate knowledge’, commitment to place, and an understanding of the needs and characteristics of each local context. We then consider an example of what this might mean in practice, particularly under conditions of increasing resource scarcity: Permaculture education in El Salvador, we suggest, illustrates the characteristics and relevance of an education that aims to foster ‘appropriate knowledge’ within a particular and very challenging context. Telle est la question à laquelle cette thèse répond à travers l’étude d’un projet de développement dont l’objectif est d’être pour le Bénin, un «vivier» de développement socio-économique, à partir de l’homme dont le profil est celui d’un «entrepreneur de type nouveau», «moralement équipé» et doté d’un important capital humain. Ce type d’homme est à «monter» de toutes les pièces du «savoir-être», du «savoir-faire» et du «savoir tout court» par une formation pratico-pratique, suivant le double principe pédagogique : «Apprends en faisant» et «Utilise ce que tu as pour avoir ce que tu veux». Apprendre à faire quoi ? Faire de l’agriculture un levier du décollage économique. We are fully aware that the ecological crisis will be expanded in the coming years and the whole world will be a witness of the wrath of a wounded ecosystem. The ecosystem degradation is generated by people themselves. Therefore, there is an urgent need for effective tools that can operate more deeply inside people in order to carry them into a real understanding of effective actions on environmental care. The humankind has chosen the path of competition, that leads to disconnection with the life. People are rationally alienated of its home natural condition. The conclusion is that the educational system has failed on the efficiency of an effective teaching on the preservation and maintenance fields. In this direction, the Religion has to be part of the solution, facing the growing environmental crisis. Here is the challenge, to build a fair and environmentally healthy society. For this, we should reestablish the spirituality as a partner, in a dialogue with the Science. Particularly, we believe the Christianity has the capacity to build a cosmovision, the competence to establish a moral authority, the facility to establish an ample base of members, and the ability to develop communities. Ahead of many theological approaches, the writing of Leonardo Boff on ecology submits a contextualized proposition that deserves attention. In a different way, the evangelical theology proposes an answer to the problem, in order to maintain a pedagogical teaching that holds its bases on the evangelical Christian doctrine. We understand that the Christianity has strength to engage believers in bilateral relationships, and inspire them to live a moral life, and has a tremendous ability to give meaning to life. However, another crisis outbursts, the delay in perceiving the current problem: the planet is dying. Consequently, a huge delay in getting involved on environmental matters, and effectively engaging in the promotion of a sustainable world. / Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo refletir sobre a situação critica de nosso planeta, sob a perspectiva do pensamento teológico de Leonardo Boff e da teologia evangelical. Temos plena consciência da crise ecológica será ampliada nos próximos anos e todos testemunharão a fúria dos ecossistemas maltratados. A degradação do ecossistema é gerada pelas pessoas. Neste sentido, há uma urgente necessidade de instrumentos eficazes que possam operar mais profundamente no interior das pessoas para levá-las a uma real conscientização de ação efetiva para a conservação do meio ambiente. A humanidade enveredou pelo caminho da competição, resultando assim, numa desconexão com a vida. O ser está alienado racionalmente da condição natural do seu próprio lar. A conclusão é que a educação falhou no sentido da ineficiência de uma pedagogia eficaz no campo da preservação e manutenção. Neste sentido, a religião tem que ser parte da solução frente a crescente crise ambiental. Surge ao desafio, o de construir uma sociedade justa e ambientalmente saudável. Diante de diversas abordagens teológicas, o escrito de Leonardo Boff sobre ecologia apresenta uma proposta contextualizada e que merece análise. Em contra posição, a teologia evangelical propõe uma resposta ao problema, de modo a manter uma pedagogia com bases na doutrina cristã evangelical. Entendemos que o cristianismo tem como engajar os fiéis em relacionamentos bilaterais, inspirá-los a viver uma vida moral e uma tremenda capacidade de dar significado a vida. Porém, destaca-se outra crise, a saber, a demora na percepção do atual problema: o planeta está morrendo. Conseqüentemente, uma absurda demora em se envolver nas questões ecológicas e efetivamente se engajar na promoção de um mundo sustentável.

to two major components: Climate change and biodiversity loss. Using a theoretical
methodology based on comparing and applying a variety of lenses from within
environmental sociology, the thesis asks and answers two questions: What are the causes
of the global ecological crisis, and how can we solve it? Drawing on the perspectives of
ecological modernization theory, ecological Marxism and deep ecology, the causes of
and solutions to the global ecological crisis are identified. The primary causes of the
crisis are found to be inefficient industrial technology, capitalism and an instrumentalist
and anthropocentric view of the natural world. The primary solutions, therefore, must
include a widespread shift towards clean and green technology, a transformative social
revolution, and a new ecocentric respect for the intrinsic value of non-human life. The
study offers many recommendations for policy makers.

The natural process of deterioration is accelerating worldwide, the uptake of natural resources grows exponentially to meet the needs / desires of consumers "new" goods / products affecting the regeneration of and thus can cause its depletion . In this way, in this research will be addressed interactions between economic modernity, ecological crisis and intergenerational equity in the sociojurídica optics in order to provide theoretical and cognitive contributions to the construction of legal mechanisms to minimize / curb heritage degradation process green on a global scale, in order to ensure equitable access to natural resources present generations without compromising them for future generations. The study, regarding the methodological aspect uses input the hypothetical-deductive method by conjecture hypothesis in order to prove their veracity. The research also makes use of dialectical contributions in order to confront the issues raised in order to identify possible ways to solve the problem. At first, it will be addressed, the role of modernity in contemporary ecological crisis, from human conduct, under the economic aegis and its subsequent developments in the phenomenon of globalization and the construction of the technical-scientific model. Secondly, research will address the dialogue under the dialectical prism of overlap between development, sustainability and rights, focusing, in materialisation of the principles of intergenerational equity. Finally, it will be sought to determine how the precept of intergenerational equity can act as reflective-regulating mechanism of equitable access to natural resources for present generations without compromising them for future generations. / O processo de deterioração do natural tem se acelerado em nível mundial, a captação de recursos naturais cresce de maneira exponencial para atender as necessidades/anseios dos consumidores por novos bens/produtos afetando o processo de regeneração destes e assim pode ocasionar o seu exaurimento. Desde modo, na presente pesquisa abordar-se-á as interações entre modernidade econômica, crise ecológica e equidade intergeracional sob a ótica sociojurídica no intuito de fornecer aportes teóricos e cognitivos para a construção de mecanismos jurídicos para minimizar/refrear o processo de degradação do patrimônio ecológico em escala global, com o objetivo de garantir o acesso equitativo aos recursos naturais as gerações presentes sem comprometê-los para as gerações futuras. O estudo, no que tange ao aspecto metodológico usa aporte do método hipotético-dedutivo por meio da conjectura das hipóteses no sentido de comprovar a sua veracidade. A pesquisa, também faz uso de aportes dialéticos com o objetivo de confrontar as questões suscitadas a fim de apontar possíveis caminhos para a solução da problemática. Num primeiro momento, abordar-se-á o papel da modernidade na crise ecológica contemporânea, a partir da conduta humana, sob a égide econômica e seus consequentes desdobramentos no fenômeno da globalização e na construção do modelo técnico-científico.
