Dominoefekty v kritické infrastruktuře / Domino effects in the critical infrastructure

KUBELKA, Václav January 2015 (has links)
The title of thesis is Domino effects in critical infrastructure and sets the objective to analyse the interaction between the representatives of individual critical infrastructure sectors. In case of failure in one sector, which would cause a domino effect and subsequently limited functionality or a failure in other sectors, the consequences for the population and the entire affected area would be enormous. This reason, as well as general topicality of this problem led me to focus my thesis on the area of critical infrastructure. Probably the most feared is power failure, which currently occurs very often and sometimes affects areas larger than cities, regions, and even states. Fortunately, all infrastructure representatives are usually best prepared for this kind of failure, and therefore its start and a short-term effect have practically no significant impact on their normal functioning. But for longer exposure exact consequences cannot be estimated because it depends on specific circumstances around individual representatives. The thesis is divided into several parts. The theoretical part, which is further subdivided, includes three chapters concerning critical infrastructure. The chapter setting the fundamental terms, which are used further in the thesis, enables to understand the inclusion of critical infrastructure. The historical development of the critical infrastructure and its position from the point of view of the European Union and also of the Czech Republic is also mentioned in the theoretical part. Finally, there are itemized and characterized individual critical infrastructure sectors. Very important questions dealing witch the protection of the critical infrastructure are discussed at the end of the theoretical part. It is important components involved in it are mentioned there, as well as various procedures supporting the effectivity, according to several publications. The practical part is also divided into chapters. The first part concerns interviews with specialists representing each sector of the critical infrastructure. Each of these representatives was asked about the effect of possible failures in other sectors that may arise in these situations. The question is whether the sectors tend to be influenced and thus to cause a domino effect, which could even result in the collapse of the companies represented by them. These interviews are then written in an adapted form. To see the interview data more easily, they are processed into tables according to the individual sectors of critical infrastructure and then commented.

Chances and risks of multi channel strategies in the sweets industry

Kurz, Dietrich January 2011 (has links)
The objective of this thesis is to investigate the potential of multi channel distribution in the sweets industry and derive specific recommendations. The aim is to identify what are chances and risks, and how to make chances more probable while avoiding risks. An empirical study is carried out which utilizes the perspectives of customers and sales persons as well (triangulation). The main results are that the benefits of multi channel marketing do not materialize for customers for low valued sweets, but that multi channel marketing is valuable in the sweets industry only for highly valued products, like precious pralines. Here multi channel marketing may generate new customers, or it may contribute to sales in existing channels. This kind of synergy may arise if channels do not compete but are closely interlinked. This is the most important chance since this kind of synergy adds to the convenience of customers (thereby raising sales) and reduces the risks of channel conflicts, cannibalization, and conflicts with retailers.

Dotace ze strukturálních fondů v obcích ČR a jejich závislost v prostoru / Spatial Pattern of Subsidies from the Structural Funds: The Case of Czech Municipalities

Pumprlová, Magda January 2018 (has links)
The thesis aims to uncover spatial patterns of subsidies from the European Union funds while focusing on the 2007-2013 programming period in the Czech Republic. We take into account demographic, economic and political charac- teristics of municipalities with the extended power to determine their relevance on the size of the obtained subsidy. Furthermore, subsidies may be clustered in the space due to some common regional characteristics that cannot be easily measured, or due to cooperation/competitiveness of the municipalities. Our results from the models estimated by the Ordinary Least Squares sug- gest that municipality's population, the number of businesses, the debt of pre- vious periods, and the mayor's affiliation to the political party are significant in explaining the size of the subsidy. Based on following tests, Moran's I and Lagrange Multiplier test, we incorporate the spatial models estimated by the Maximum Likelihood Estimator. We find that the subsidies managed by the regional council disperse across the given region, indicating a hidden common characteristic or regional council's endogenous interventions. Faktory ovlivňující komunikaci při sluchové vadě ve vyšším věku / Factors Influencing Communication with Hearing Impairment in Old Age

Černý, Libor January 2017 (has links)
The main goal of this doctoral thesis was to measure differences in speech intelligibility between older and younger hearing-impaired people and to establish the factors influencing the effectiveness of the use of hearing aids in the elderly. We focused on three related areas: 1/ To measure how the magnitude of difference of hearing and speech intelligibility in silence differs between younger and older populations, with a similar degree of hearing loss, in terms of word audiometry. 2/ To establish how speech intelligibility in competitive noise differs between younger and older populations with a similar degree of auditory defect, in terms of the Czech Test of Sentence Intelligibility in Babble Noise. 3/ To establish which factors affect the effectiveness of hearing aids for seniors, the motivation for the acquisition and regular use of hearing aids, and whether these factors correlate with age or lifestyle. Methodology 1/ A group of 143 hearing aid users was divided into young (N = 60, mean age 15,9 y.) and seniors (N = 83, mean age 83,6 y.). For these two age groups we compared the differences between SRT values (understanding in word audiometry in silence, in the free field) and PTA values (hearing threshold in pure tone audiometry). 2/ A group of 423 persons, examined using the Test of...

Olympijský park Lipno: zhodnocení ekonomického dopadu projektu / Olympic Park Lipno: Economic Assessment of the Project

Binderová, Monika January 2017 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the economic impact of the Olympic Park Lipno. First of all, it describes the so-called mega sport events and their impacts, especially the economic ones. Furthermore, the ex-ante and ex-post studies and crowding out effect are characterised in the research. In addition, two analyzes which are described in detail in the thesis were prepared by KPMG. The research method is a questionnaire survey with all information gained at the Olympic Park Lipno. The questionnaires and the collection of secondary data allowed us to proceed to comparison of the researched studies and, in particular, to the calculation of the economic impact.

Ekonomie náboženství a konverze / Economy of Religion and Conversion

Zehnalová, Simona January 2012 (has links)
This work defines religion market as a network industry when at a certain level of switching costs can lead in individual's locking up in the current group and thus prevent his conversion. First, the participating individual's utility function is defined. It is largely influenced by the probability which the individual attaches to the existence of God and afterlife. The study shows, that at sufficiently high level of social capital, it is advantageous to participate for rationally minded individuals although they are not believers. The empirical part demonstrates the effect of specific religious and social capitals on individual's decision to convert through the logit model. This influence is positive, compared to original expectations (i.e. the higher the social and specific capital, the higher the tendency to convert). It can confirm the thesis that the influence of these individual's growth of specific capital is causing higher demand for more strict organizations which eliminate free-riders and provide higher social capital.

Analýza vývoje plodnosti ve vybraných zemích Evropy mezi lety 1970 a 2014 s využitím alternativních metod / Analysing fertility developments in selected European countries between 1970 and 2014 using alternative methods

Vachuška, Jakub January 2021 (has links)
Analysing fertility developments in selected European countries between 1970 and 2014 using alternative methods Abstract Transversal fertility indices as the total fertility rate are distorted by tempo effect when timing of childbearing is changing. New indices as the tempo-adjusted total fertility rate remove this distortion and give another perspective on fertility trends in countries with present tempo effect. These countries are former Eastern Bloc countries and other European countries. This thesis uses the tempo-adjusted total fertility rate and data from Human Fertility Database to describe tempo distortion in fertility level in Sweden, Norway, Czechia, Slovakia, Estonia and Lithuania in period 1970-2014. A more detailed analysis by parity in Sweden and Czechia is conducted in the same period. Negative tempo effect has been present from 1970s in Sweden and Norway and then from 90s in the countries left with fertility postponement being very widespread. The tempo effect level in Sweden and Czechia was substantial at parity one and diminishing with higher parities. Studium stability bidisperzní MR kapaliny a jejího magnetoreologického efektu / Study on stability of bidisperse MR fluid and its magnetorheological effect

Dvořáček, Ondřej January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the study of the behaviour of bidisperse MR fluids. The introduction gives brief research and analysis of previously published studies. In the main part of this thesis, the sedimentation properties of monodispersions and bidispersions are investigated influencing on the primary and secondary particles size, the ratio between the fractions, the total concentration of the particles dispersed in the MR fluid and the carrier fluid viscosity. The initialization sedimentation rate is used to assess sediment stability. Subsequently, MR samples are tested on a slit-flow rheometer, and flow curves are measured at different temperatures and in the presence of various magnetic fields intensities. The MR effect is evaluated by the yield stress. The study contains results describing the behaviour of investigated MR fluid samples.
