Pokročilé oxidační procesy v environmentálních aplikacích / Advanced oxidation processes in environmental applications

OLŠAN, Pavel January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is the study of application of the synergistic effects of various advanced oxidation processes (AOP) used for decomposition of chemical compounds resistant to biodegradation. The synergistic effect of photocatalytically active material and low temperature plasma were tested in my thesis. Model substances with photocatalytically active material were exposed to atmospheric plasma discharge (Gliding Arc) in order to improve generation of the active hydroxyl groups and oxidation processes. The first chapter of the theoretical part summarizes the knowledge of advanced oxidation processes, their principles and utilization. Next chapters are dedicated to basic summary of titanium dioxide and types of creating the thin films. The last part of theoretical chapter describes the types of plasma discharges. The experimental part describes the equipment for decomposition of chemical compounds resistant to biodegradation using AOP. Next chapter of the experimental part is dedicated to decomposition of organic dye AO7 and antibiotic Verapamil hydrochloride. The last chapter summarizes the results of the experiments.

Antivirotické účinky stilbenoidů proti klíšťaty přenášeným patogenům in vivo

MAŠKOVÁ, Hana January 2018 (has links)
This study was focused on antiviral effects of stilbenoids against a virus transmitted by ticks. The cell viability of selected cell line cultures in the presence of various concentrations of stilbenoids was determined using the MTT assay. Similarly, the mixed effect of other known antiviral substances and stilbenoids was studied using the MTT assay. Both the prophylactic effects of stilbenoids on the infected culture cell lines and the effect on viral replication were examined. The viral titres from samples were determined using plaque assay. Some of the experiments were performed also in vivo using laboratory mice.

Vliv živinové zátěže na rhizosférní efekt v mokřadních půdách / The influence of increased nutrient input on rhizospheric effect in wet meadows´ soils

BURIANOVÁ, Jitka January 2008 (has links)
This master thesis deals with increased nutrient input in two wet meadow ecosystems. The study sites were Záblatské louky with organic soil and Hamr with mineral soil are both located in nature protected area Třeboňsko. This study focuses on effect of eutrophication on direct counts of bacteria, as well as Ntot and Ctot concentrations in the rhizosphere and bulk soil. Changes of all measured paremeters were observed during the growing season 2006 -2007 in both sites. Fluctuation of Norg, N-NH4 and N-NO3 concentrations occurred as well.

Srovnání spotového a opčního trhu v období finanční krize / Comparision of spot and option market developement during a financial crisis

Buksová, Jana January 2009 (has links)
This graduation thesis analyses the spot and forward markets; the focus is on stock and stock-call options for two German companies -- Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank. Price movement and evaluation/devaluation for the financial instrument are measured over a specific period of time. The closing chapter compares both markets using three criteria -- leverage effect, analysis of volume and traded contracts, and how volatility affects the call option price.

What's in a Name? Effect of Alphabetical Ordering on Students' Achievement: Example from Czech Elementary and Lower Secondary Schools / Jsou studenti s příjmením blíže začátku abecedy úspěšnější ve škole? Příklad z českých základných škol

Regéczy, Martin January 2011 (has links)
Humans are born with innate abilities that vary across individuals. Those innate abilities are at their origin unaffected by their name. Yet, as a child grows up it can be put in different situations based solely on name it holds. Those situations alter individuals' behavior in allocation of scarce resources (Carlson and Conrad, 2008) and consequently its earnings (Jurajda and Munich, 2007). At origin of these empirically observed differences might be use of alphabetical ordered lists at elementary and lower secondary schools. The empirical test I conducted fails to reject the null hypothesis that there is relation between surname initials and student achievement. Those at the bottom of alphabetical ordered list of students tend to do better than the rest of the class. Possible explanation might be use of alphabetical sorting during examinations, which creates uneven incentives among students. To support this explanation a model of student's decision under risk is presented and discussed.

Růst velikosti vlády a změna rozdělení příjmů amerických domácností během krize 2007 -2009 / Growth of Government and Change of Income Distribution of American Households During the Crisis of 2007-2009

Šolc, Jan January 2014 (has links)
The thesis deals with the synthesis of Peltzman and Higgs government growth theory and influence of the prevailing Keynesian ideology on predicative ability of these theories. Based on this theoretical synthesis thesis explains the long-term trend of increasing government power in the U.S. which is showed by all measuring methods regarding the size of governmental power. The second part of the thesis discusses the impact of the redistribution of wealth in the household sector to the size of government in the years 1979 - 2009, with an emphasis on recent crisis during 2007 - 2009. Tested hypothesis is that the redistributive processes during the last crisis were aimed mainly to U.S. residents in the area of median income. Based on a comparison of data from the years 1979 - 2009 and relating them to the crisis moment of 2007 - 2009 thesis confirms this hypothesis.

Ekonomie hvězdných hráčů – Poptávají Češi více hvězdné hráče na trhu profesionálních fotbalistů? / Economics of star players - Do Czech people demand star players on the professional football players market more?

Kotrba, Vojtěch January 2015 (has links)
This paper investigates presence of the superstar effect among users of the Czech fantasy league during seasons between years 2010 and 2013. Both main views are taken into consideration, namely Rosen's and also Adler's theory. Using regression models employing the method of least squares for panel data I show a positive superstar effect according to Rosen's theory in case when the star players are defined by their ability to score great amounts of goals. The presence of a positive superstar effect according to Adler's theory is not apparent in the models, which can be caused by the authors of the fantasy league overestimating the value of the star players beside their performance.

Vliv vzdělání na nezaměstnanost v České republice / The impact of education on unemployment in the Czech Republic

Kufnerová, Eva January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis analyzes the impact of education on unemployment of citizens of the Czech Republic. It utilizes data from the ISSP international survey between years 1994-2012. The main assumption of this work is that education reduces the likelihood of individual's unemployment. This hypothesis is confirmed by using the Probit method, in several models accompanied also by the instrumental variable approach. The instrumental variable method helps to identify the causal effect of education on unemployment. Results show that education has greater impact on women. Each additional year of schooling reduces the likelihood of a woman's unemployment by 1 percentage point and likelihood of a man's unemployment by 0.75 percentage points. In additional models, education is measured by highest reached level rather than years of schooling. Results confirm that the probability of unemployment is lower for people with higher level of education than for others.

The Risk of Vampire Effect in Advertising / The Risk of Vampire Effect in Advertising

Kuvita, Tetyana January 2013 (has links)
The concept of vampire effect in advertising appears to be underresearched by marketing specialists. In the race for getting attention of target audience advertisers often use special attention-getting devices. This in turn exposes them to a higher risk of creating a vampire effect when the core message about the brand or a product is eaten up by such devices. Therefore this study provides deepeer insights into the vampire effect occurences. A deductive approach is used. First secondary literature review on preconditions of vampire effect occurrences and various types of vampire effect is covered. Primary data collection and analysis is performed next. This part is narrowed down to researching vampire effect risks when using celebrities as attention-getting device in printed advertisement. Research tools of this study include an eye-tracking device and a survey of 72 students from the University of Economics in Prague. The research concludes that a significantly higher risk of creating a vampire effect exists when using an unrelated attention-getting device. Marketers are advised to use related celebrities if choosing to stick to the attention-getting device approach. However, the concept of "relatedness" should be effectively pre-tested prior to advertising campaign start.
