Porozumění simultánním skokům na finančních trzích / Understanding co-jumps in financial markets

Thoma, Richard January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on impact of jumps and simultaneous jumps (co-jumps) in asset prices on future volatility. Our main contribution to the empirical literature lies in the use of panel Heterogeneous Autoregressive (HAR) model that allows us to obtain average effect of jumps for both the portfolio of 29 U.S. stocks and 8 individual market sectors our stocks belong to. On top of that we investigate the effect of sign for both jumps and co-jumps. The estimation results indicate that the impact of jumps on future volatility is positive whereas for co-jumps it is negative. We also document tendency of downward jumps and co-jumps to be followed by increase in volatility and that upward jumps and co-jumps are followed by decrease in volatility. Finally, results for individual sectors reveal that estimated effects vary across industries - for cyclical sectors volatility is in general more sensitive to negative jumps and less sensitive to positive jumps than for defensive sectors.

Materiálový efekt při interakcích jaderné palivo - chladící médium: Strukturní analýza úlomků parní exploze a mechanismus solidifikace / Material effect in nuclear Fuel - Coolant interaction: Structural characterization of the steam explosion debris and solidification mechanism

Tyrpekl, Václav January 2012 (has links)
Thesis Abstract This thesis has been performed under co-tutelle supervision between Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic) and Strasbourg University (France). It also profited from the background and cooperation of Institute of Inorganic Chemistry Academy of Science of the Czech Republic and French Commission for Atomic and Alternative energies (CEA Cadarache, France). Results of the work contribute to the OECD/NEA project Serena 2 (Program on Steam Explosion Resolution for Nuclear Applications). Presented thesis can be classed in the scientific field of nuclear safety and material science. It is aimed on the so-called "molten nuclear Fuel - Coolant Interaction" (FCI) that belongs among the recent issues of the nuclear reactor severe accident R&D. During the nuclear reactor melt down accident the melted reactor load can interact with the coolant (light water). This interaction can be located inside the vessel or outside in the case of vessel break-up. These two scenarios are commonly called in- and ex-vessel FCI and they differ in the conditions such as initial pressure of the system, water sub-cooling etc. The Molten fuel - coolant interaction can progress into thermal detonation called also "steam explosion" that can challenge the reactor or containment integrity. Recent experiments have shown that...

Metoda radiometrické korekce smile efektu u hyperspektrálního skeneru / Procedure of a smile effect radiometric correction for hyperspectral scanner

Skalický, Filip January 2012 (has links)
The diploma theses focused on the topic of removing spectral aberration of sensor. The anomaly is being called spectral smile effect, or spectral curvature. Usually are with this artifact affected hyperspectral sensors, whose sensing is based on principle corresponding to pushbroom scanner. The defect occurs in the data as brightness gradient in the cross-track direction to the sensor flight and affects the object's spectral characteristics shape. Removing is important particularly in case of applying atmospheric correction algorithm, which are being degraded with presence of this defect. The work contents description of current methods used for detecting and eliminating this anomaly. The work is closer focused on the methods removing the defect based on own measured data without use of calibration targets. There is being examined sensitivity of the methods on the scene perception character, meaning heterogeneity of the scene and other outside influence. One of the methods is deeply processed resulting in increasing quality of the method for removing the defect.

Prostorové a časové rozložení srážek v oblasti Vogéz / Spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation in the Vosges mountain range area

Minářová, Jana January 2013 (has links)
Spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation in the Vosges mountain range area Abstract The aim of this work is to study the climatology of atmospheric precipitation in the studied area situated in the Northeastern France. Factors, e.g. the global circulation of the atmosphere, that influence the spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation in the mid-latitudes, especially in Western Europe and in mountainous regions, are discussed from the macro- to micro- scale in the first part. The term "ombric continentality" is clarified and a description of the physical geography of the studied area is performed, e.g. upward and windward asymmetry of Vosges slopes and contrasts between the mountain range and the Upper Rhine Plain. Secondly a demonstration is made that the Vosges mountain range affects, due to its position, the spatio-temporal distribution of precipitation at a regional scale. This is carried out by computing the daily rainfall on 14 meteorological stations out of the period 1951-2011. Three categories of stations were determined according to their annual precipitation repartition: (i) mountain stations with the winter precipitation maximum, (ii) leeward slope stations with two precipitation maxima, i.e. in winter and summer and (iii) leeward stations located in the Upper Rhine Plain East...

Behaviorální finance - implikace pro investory / Behavioral finance - implications for investors

Stupavský, Michal January 2010 (has links)
Degree thesis deals with behavioral finance with a focus on behavior and psychology of an individual investor. The first part is devoted to the prospect theory that is a descriptive model of behavior of economic agents under the conditions of uncertainty and stands in a stark contrast with the traditional normative expected utility theory. The second part is devoted to the group of behavioral biases that are distortions of human thinking and judgment documented by cognitive psychology. These biases are difficult to eliminate and lead to a biased perception, inaccurate judgments and illogical interpretations. The third and final part is devoted to a questionnaire survey whose goal was to find out whether financial market participants behave according to the axioms of the expected utility theory or whether they systemically deviate from the axioms of this normative theory. The second goal of the survey was to confirm or disprove inferences of academic studies about existence of behavioral biases.

Reálná hodnota v účetnictví / Fair value in accounting

Benáčková, Lenka January 2010 (has links)
The thesis is focused on using fair value in accounting in the context of other metods of measurement. There is summarized the application of fair value in Czech Republic and in IAS/IFRS. At the end of this thesis is discussed about presentation of the statements, if the fair value is applicated, next about latent pensions and about gains and losses and push-down effect.

Vybrané efekty investičnej podpory na štátny rozpočet a zamestnanosť v ČR / Selected effects of investment incentives on the state budget and employment in the Czech Republic

Bolcha, Peter January 2004 (has links)
The policy of investment incentives is applied in majority of countries all over the world. This popularity is in contradiction with rare academic analyses of this phenomenon and those few existing are not reflected by the actual policy. This work intends to partially fill the first gap and is devoted to estimation of fiscal impact of the policy and also its effects on employment. It contains a proposal of cost-benefit calculation and its application in Czech Republic. The necessary condition for any application of this method, one needs to assess causal impact of such policy on investment and also indirect effects in the labour market. Comparison of investment behavior of supported firms and firms from control group (chosen by matching estimator) shows that the extra investment generated (or maybe only accelerated) was at most 30% of contracted amounts. Indirect effects in labour market are estimated via dynamic model of employment using Heckman's treatment of selection. Inquireies show that linkage effects dominate the crowding out effects, signalling that domestic firms on average benefit from the presence of their foreign conterparts. Turning to supported vs. nonsupported firms, this effect diminishes. For estimation of various scenarios of fiscal and employment effects I use results from econometric estimates of this work as well as the other works from Czech environment. The unitary fiscal cost of one job created is several hundred tousand CZK and therefore the net cost has to be confronted with other potencial benefits of policy. With respect to fact that majority of firms resides and operates in Czech Republic prior the incentive award, technological transfer or other positive effects do not find much support in my findings. This indicates that the arguments for the provision of this policy in Czech economy are not valid (any more).

Způsoby redukce relativní váhy veřejného dluhu ve vybraných evropských zemích

Červenková, Edita Bc. January 2007 (has links)
Diplomová práce se nejprve zabývá definováním základních pojmů z oblasti fiskální problematiky ? státní rozpočet, rozpočtový deficit a veřejný dluh. K provedení praktické části byly vybrány Irsko a Belgie, protože právě těmto státům se podařilo nejrazantněji snížit výši relativní váhy svého veřejného zadlužení v rámci zemí Evropské unie.
