The qualitative research also describes and analyzes the Specific Training Course for teachers approved by the examination of the State Educational Secretary of São Paulo, under the responsibility of the EFAP. This study aims to identify and discuss the conception of teacher training and the expected profile of teachers to the educational project of the state of São Paulo. This project responds, on one hand, to a demand attested by the literature, and on the other hand to a need of control, by the State, over the teachers identity and performance due to the quality of the education. Another goal of this study is to identify how that control, which aims to unconditional participation and standardization, is built. As theoretical referential, the research used: authors who study the teacher training such as Barroso, Candau, Pereira, Marin among others; authors who are committed to the study of professional development and the teachers integration such as Marcelo, Huberman and Veenman; and authors who work with the managers discourse and mechanisms of control institutionalized by the managers in order to format the teacher s work, such as Viñao Frago and Lawn. The results obtained through the document analysis of the legislation, speeches and interviews enable to claim that the Course of Entering Teachers is a action of professional beginning with unique features. Due to the fact that this course is a result of an educational policy focused on the control of the teacher s performance and on the improvement of the quality of education, it accepts the teaching function as a technical work carried out efficiently and a time saving way in order to achieve goals that can be shown in figures. The results prove the ambiguity of the Course of Entering Teachers: not only does it promote the professional beginning and the teachers welcoming highlighting aspects that locate the teacher profession, but also it tends to standardize the teachers performance / Inserida no grande tema sobre a formação de professores e o desenvolvimento profissional docente, esta pesquisa qualitativa, analisa a justificativa oficial expressa nos documentos e na legislação que criam e implantam a EFAP - Escola de Formação e Aperfeiçoamento dos Professores do Estado de São Paulo Paulo Renato Costa Souza . Também descreve e analisa o Curso de Formação Específica para professores em concurso pela Secretaria Estadual de Educação de São Paulo, sob a responsabilidade da EFAP que, de um lado, responde a uma demanda atestada pela literatura, e de outro responde a uma necessidade de controle, pelo Estado, da identidade e do desempenho dos professores em nome da qualidade do ensino. A pesquisa tem o objetivo de identificar a concepção de formação docente e de discutir como se constrói esse controle que visa à adesão incondicional e a padronização. Experiences and engagement levels of entering community college students and returning students

In order to explore the differences in engagement levels between entering and returning community college students, the researcher analyzed 13,300 surveys from the 2007 Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE) pilot data set utilizing a quantitative methodology. This study focused on analyzing engagement levels of entering and returning students in six constructs: Active and Collaborative Learning, First Day, Student Effort, Student-faculty Interaction, Support for Learners, and Motivation. After the comparison between the two groups was performed, data were disaggregated by eleven groups to further explore differences. Differences in engagement levels were explored in terms of students’ characteristics such as remedial background, age, gender, full-time status, ethnicity, degree seeking, first generation, and traditional status. The results of this study revealed that returning community college students in general, are more engaged in educational practices associated with persistence than entering students. In addition, findings suggest that with the exception of one variable (overall high school grade average), students commonly categorized as “at risk” or “disadvantaged” (developmental, non-traditional, part-time, first generation, minorities) overwhelmingly held higher levels of engagement in all positive engagement variables of the six analyzed constructs. Furthermore, in an analysis of disaggregated data by eleven groups of students, the following was found: o Students who placed in three developmental courses were by far the most highly engaged group in all positive engagement variables of the six constructs. o Students with the highest level of engagement in the two negative variables of the Student Effort construct (skipped class or came to class without completing readings or assignments) were traditional, 18-19 year olds, not-first generation, and non-developmental students. o Students who reported that success courses had helped them to get the knowledge necessary to succeed in college were overwhelmingly disadvantaged students (developmental, non-traditional, females and minorities). o Developmental students showed higher levels of engagement with regard to college services. o Financial aid advising and skill labs (math, reading, and writing) were the two services with the highest number of statistically significant differences throughout the eleven groups. This study was concluded with recommendations for further research and strategies that community college stakeholders could implement to increase student retention. / text

Uppsatsen gör en jämförelse av Växjö kommuns tidigare direktlevererande posthanteringsprocess och samordnad posthanteringsprocess som nu används på vissa områden på utbildningsförvaltningen i Växjö kommun. Genom att kartlägga de båda processerna har en jämförelse kunnat göras. Lokala, centrala och en extern respondent har intervjuats angående rättssäkerhet, arbetsmiljö, klimatpåverkan och kostnader. By mapping the two processes, a comparison was made possible. Local, central and one external respondents have been interviewed about the matters of security of life and property, work environment, climatical stress and costs. By analyzing collected data and theory about these matters, the writers found, among others, following differences: Work environment is partly changed for the worse Improved security of life and property Decreased climatical stress Probably decreased costs Also examined in the thesis are what experiences Växjö municipality should take with them if the coordinated post handling process is to be implemented in other departments in the municipality. The matters examined are security of life and property, work environment, climatical stress, costs and implementation. Launch nového brandu do komoditizované kategorie / Launch of a new brand into commodity market

My thesis focused on the launch of new brand into commodity markets. Analysing the case study "Nestlé Coffee-mate launch into Czech and Slovak Republics" the thesis created the strategy of entering the market commonly valid for branded goods fighting the increasing power of the private labels. The main goal of the thesis was (not) to recommend Nestlé Česko, s.r.o. to enter Czech and Slovak markets. I made up particular marketing mix studying the commodity market of powdered coffee creamer category in connection with the consumer. Consequently I proposed communication strategy and communication mix. To verify the launch itself I used market test called minimarkets. Minimarkets actually took place at the end of 2008. The market test resulted into my recommendation not to launch Coffee-mate into Czech and Slovak Republic. Key indicators and expectations, so much important for the success of the launch iteself, have not been met during the testing. However, due to the methodologies selected within the thesis, the strategy how to enter the commodity market seems to be applicable onto different commodity categories. Therefore it may be used as a hint during a planning process for new competitive strategies of various brands defending themselves from the private labels.

A pesquisa tem como objetivo descrever o Programa Bolsa Trabalho, política publica estadual de qualificação e inserção econômica e social de jovens de baixa renda entre 18 e 29 anos no mercado de trabalho, no município de Belém-PA. Utilizamos a pesquisa bibliográfica que foi feita para compreender o modelo econômico e as políticas públicas voltadas para inserção no mercado de trabalho, a pesquisa documental nos fez compreender o Programa Bolsa Trabalho, suas características e funcionamento e a análise quantitativa dos resultados do programa quanto ao perfil dos bolsistas e do mercado de trabalho. O estudo foi feito com base em dados estatísticos do IBGE, dados de um sistema próprio de monitoramento do Programa Bolsa Trabalho e dados do CAGED. A análise quantitativa partiu do universo de 5.454 bolsistas e da amostra de 1.124 bolsistas que compareceram a ação de desligamento do Programa Bolsa Trabalho. A amostra foi validada pela equação para cálculo de populações finitas. Os resultados nos indicaram que o Programa Bolsa Trabalho atende bolsistas dos bairros mais pobres e violentos, predominando o sexo feminino. Cerca de um quarto dos jovens inseriram-se no mercado de trabalho. Algumas ocupações possuem demanda no mercado formal de trabalho outras não, esse aspecto pode auxiliar na definição e reorientação dos cursos ofertados pelo programa. Os cursos que mais qualificaram não são detectáveis com dados do mercado formal o que demanda o desenvolvimento de critérios de medição. Com os dados analizados podemos concluir que o PBT acarretou um impacto positivo para inserir o jovem no mercado de trabalho no município de Belém-PA. / The research aims to present and characterize the Work Scholarship Program, State Public policy for qualification and economic and social integration of lowincome youth between 18 and 29 years in the job market in the town of Belém, PA. The method used a literature search that was made to understand the economic model and the public policies aimed at integration into the labor market. Research documents make us understand the Working Scholarship Program, their characteristics and performance and qualitative and quantitative analysis of program results regarding the profile of the fellows and the labor market. The study was based on statistical data from the IBGE, data from a system capable of monitoring Work Scholarship Program and data from CAGED. Quantitative analysis came from the 5454 fellows universe and the sample of 1,124 Fellows who attended the shutdown action Work Scholarship Program. The sample was validated by the equation for calculation of finite populations. The results indicated that the Work Scholarship Program meets fellows of the poorest and most violent neighborhoods, predominantly female. Approximately one quarter of young people were part of the job market. Some occupations have demand in the formal labor market but not others, this aspect may help in defining and reorientation of the courses offered by the program. Courses that more qualified are not detectable with the formal market data that demands the development of measurement criteria. With the data analyzed we can conclude that the PBT carries a positive impact on the young to enter the job market in the city of Belém, Brazil.

Exploring the stress levels and alcohol use amonst first entering students at the University of Limpopo (Turfloop Campus)

Thesis (M. A. (Clinical Psychology)) -- University of Limpopo, 2019 / The study explored the stress levels and alcohol use amongst first entering students at the University of Limpopo. There are various reasons that students’ use and abuse alcohol for instance, academic workload, peer pressure, negative life events and boredom. In this study a cross-sectional survey design was used with a random sample of 217 first year psychology students. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), which measures individual stress and the Alcohol Use Identification Disorder Test (Audit), which measures alcohol use were used. Descriptive statistics, the chi-square test and an independent t-test were used to analyse data. Findings revealed that the majority of students drink alcohol but only a few drink to excess. Stress was reported mostly in the low to moderate range. However, female students did report significantly more stress than males in the sample. Some findings, although not significant, were problematic as for instance, a portion of students stated they could not remember what they were doing the night before after drinking and one female student was found to be dependent on alcohol. The Self-Medication Model (SMM) posits that people in a group are likely to selfmedicate if certain conditions are met in order to avoid stress, this appears to be the case in this study. It was recommended that a larger study be undertaken with a qualitative component to ascertain reasons why students are drinking alcohol in ever increasing numbers. It was also recommended that the institution run programmes related to the dangers of alcohol use and about stress and its consequences.

Exploring contextual factors affecting first entering students' motivation to learn English at the University of Limpopo

(English Studies)) -- University of Limpopo, 2021 / This study aimed to explore contextual factors affecting first entering students' motivation to learn English at the University of Limpopo (UL). It has utilised a qualitative approach and also adopted an exploratory design to explore the contextual factors, which affect students' motivation to learn the English language. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data from a selected sample of respondents. Moreover, Thematic Content Analysis (TCA) was employed to analyse and thematise the collected data in line with the objectives of the study, which are aligned with the literature review in the study. The following themes were generated: students' motivations to learn the English language, the students' approaches to learning the English language, the role of context in relation to students' motivation to learn English, the lecture hall control and climate, the effect of lecture hall control and climate on students' motivation, and the lecturers' perceptions about motivation to learn. In addition, the study found that first entering students' motivation to learn the English language was influenced by contextual factors such as lecture hall setting, lecturers' teaching approaches as well as the perceptions of friends and classmates. Therefore, the study recommended that the UL Department of Languages, the lecturers, as well as the Academic Development Centre (ADC) should come up with possible strategies to suggest contextual factors that could motivate the UL first entering students to learn English. And that is only 1 entry class, school readiness and related characteristics of the child in this age but also the continuity of preschool and primary education, which the most important areas, regarding the thesis topic, educational programs for preschool children organized by elementary school. One of these programs are also preschool classes located in the elementary school. And this location is the most devoted attention. This thesis explores and examines what are the positives of the location, whether they are seen as a negative. To meet the objectives of the thesis is mainly managed by teachers who have experience with children who attended classes in elementary school situated.
