We study topics related to zeros of Dirichlet series and entire functions. A large part of the thesis is devoted to the location of zeros of Dirichlet series via density criteria. We establish the Nyman-Beruling criterion for a wide class of Dirichlet series and the Báez-Duarte criterion for Dirichlet L-functions in the semi-plane R(s)>1/p, for p ∈ (1,2], as well as for zeros of Dirichlet polynomials in any semi-plane R(s)>r. An analog for the case of Dirichlet polynomials of a result of Burnol which is closely related to Báez-Duarte’s one is also established. A principal tool in the proof of the latter result is the solution of a natural extremal problem for Dirichlet polynomials inspired by Báez-Duarte’s result. We prove that the signs of the Maclaurin coefficients of a wide class of entire functions that belong to the Laguerre-Pólya class posses a regular behavior. / FAPESP: 2013/14881-9

Infecções respiratórias por bocavirus humano: aspectos clínicos e moleculares / Respiratory infections by human bocavirus: molecular and clinical features.José Luiz Proença Modena 20 May 2009 (has links)
Human bocavirus (HBoV) is a parvovirus recently identified in association with respiratory tract infections. HBoV 5217 nt genome contains 3 open reading frames encoding four proteins (NS1, NP-1, VP-1 and VP-2). HBoV has been reported in respiratory samples from children in several parts of the world (including Australia, North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa), suggesting that the virus circulates worldwide. However, no longitudinal studies of HBoV in respiratory samples have been reported in Latin America. We report a prospective study of HBoV in nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPAs) collected from patients seen for acute respiratory tract infections (ARI) at the University of Sao Paulo Hospital in Ribeirao Preto, southeast Brazil and at the University Hospital in Salvador, Brazil. 1288 NPAs from 1217 patients was submitted to the virology lab for respiratory virus detection from 2005 to 2007 and were screened for HBoV by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), whom 962 were under 5 years of age and 177 were older than 5 years. In addition, NPAs from 50 children under 12 years without IRA was also tested to HBoV for PCR. All samples positive of HBoV was tested for others respiratory virus, including the human respiratory syncitial virus (HRSV), human rhinovirus (HRV), human influenza (HFLU), human metapneumovirus (HMPV), human parainfluenza virus (HPIV), human coronavirus (HCoV) and human adenovirus (HAdV). These samples had their HBoV viral load determined by real time PCR and the viral entire genome of nineteen HBoV sample was sequenced. We also cloned and expressed in S. cerevisae (Y258) the gene of VP2, one protein of viral capside. The prevalence of this virus was of 4,8% in children under 5 years and 1% in adults, both with IRA. HBoV was not found on the patients without symptoms. In 2005, of the 259 patients tested, 25 (10%) were positive for HBoV. Interestingly, the virus circulated more frequently in April, the month of peak activity of respiratory HRSV. In 2006 HBoV was detected in only 10 NPAs out of 334 samples (3%) tested, without any notable peak of frequency. In 2007 HBoV was detected in 13 out of 552 (2%) tested samples with little higher frequency of detection in June an July. Rhinorrhea, cough, and wheezing were observed in more than 50% of the HBoV-positive children, and no obvious respiratory clinical differences were noted between HBoV-positive and negative children. However, was noted a higher frequency of diarrhea on HBoV-positive patients. In this study was also observed a larger frequency (71%) of viral coinfections between the HBoV-positive patients. The respiratory viruses more frequently associated with human bocavirus were: HRSV, HRV and HAdV. Interestingly, on the 15 HBoV-alone patients was observed a higher viral load and a higher prevalence of diarrhea than HBoV-coinfection patients. These results showed that this virus can reach enormous titles (like 1014) in NPAs from patients with respiratory infection symptoms and this is associated with diahhrea. The entire genome sequencing of HBoV of our study indicates that the genetic divergence between the HBoV lineages is small. In conclusion, we demonstrated that HBoV circulates and is detected in association with respiratory symptoms and diarrhea in Brazil. Long term surveillance will be needed to determine whether or not an HBoV season occurs and what is the real clinical impact of this virus in our country.

Application of experimental and analytical approaches in characterizing coronary stentsSaqib, Muhammad 29 June 2023 (has links)
Coronary artery disease (CAD) affects every fifth person in the world. The gold-standard treatment for CAD is stent implantation, however, the existing therapy is not sufficient due to many reasons. For instance, in-stent restenosis, biocompatibility, controlled degradation rate, protein adsorption, and adequate endothelialization are still the main concerns. In the last two decades, the field of stent technology has been grown rapidly and many new stent types and in vitro testing methods for stent characterization have been developed to minimize the aforementioned issues. In this vicinity, there are still many unaddressed issues: i) the quantitative analysis of corrosion is conducted with simpler samples made of stent material instead of stents, in most cases due to the absence of a mathematical model to calculate the entire stent surface area (ESSA); ii) in vitro stent testing in environments that are very far from actual physiological environments; iii) Evaluation of the influence of in-vitro test conditions on coated metallic stents; iv) absence of flow-induced shear stress (FISS) corrosion model, to mention a few. This thesis presents the novel ESSA model, the fluid dynamic experimental setup with the integration of various sensors and pH control, the influence of in vitro degradation behavior of the titanium oxynitride (TiOxNy) coated stainless steel stents and anodized AZ31 samples, and the FISS corrosion model. The results show some important contributions in this field, however, there is still a huge potential for the development of promising stent characterization solutions.

Katedrála / CathedralKliment, Jakub January 2016 (has links)
The statue called The Cathedral is a natural extension of my work, which deals with organic morphology of the landscape, both the details and grand compositions, which in the countryside vyskytují.Stejně like most authors is my creative work reflection of my surroundings, both personal so near in geographical terms. Integrating these aspects arise impetus to creation. In the case of sculptures entitled The Cathedral is a rendering of the very strong impression of verticality, which dominates the landscape. Regularly clashing with seemingly ordinary natural objects such as trees, soil, hills or reliefs and reliefs such as landscapes, I got into an imaginary dialogue, which I decided to answer this statue and also portray already mentioned impressed. This feeling is for me identically comparable to a situation where the viewer stands in front of the high Gothic building and trying to accommodate the shape of a giant who stands before him. Its peak, it seems so distant, as if no end, and the broad base is a kind of sign of confidence in the form of stability. Parallels between these seemingly different topics I could not miss, so I decided to call the statue Cathedral. In this work, as in previous ones, I try to get into organic sculptures character with the help of the deformation of materials, or basically draping. Compacting elastic materials to try to create the statues of the tension that fascinates me in nature and creates the impression of growth, which is in the countryside of one of the strongest motives. Shape diversity, which is in the landscape, in my inexhaustible source of inspiration and has become lately a space that fills me. When I release the perception of various aspects of your imagination and build imaginary composition, which would then be identical expression perceived impressions.

MORAVSKÉ VINAŘSKÉ CENTRUM BRNO / Moravian wine centre BrnoPeková, Pavla January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis gives a proposal for a new Moravian wine center in the city center of Brno. Wine center is situated on the street Hlinka, where grapevines were planted in the Middle Ages. Demarcated land is narrow and elongated sloping towards to the south and connects the Yellow hills and the Brno Exhibition Centre. The main idea of this thesis is connect these two significant locations and offer the visitor a free passage along the entire length of the complex. Also main building Moravian Wine Centre reflects this fact and it expands the space of the street stalls and forms it into overgrown "arcade". The house is opened into this space - with glazed facade of the first two floors or with transmission into the rear wing. The main building consist of the cellar, where it is located wellness, winehouse, rentable wine boxes and tasting room connected with wine production. The rest of floors are designed for wine gallery, information center, reception, shop, restaurant, conference center and hotel. There is a café with roof terrace in the last floor. It offers a magnificent view into cityscape of Brno, Brno Exhibition Centre and the Yellow slope of the hill. There is designed a pond for relaxation in the courtyard. Nearby is situated Wine Institute building with facilities for making wine. In the second half of the land are located three blocks of luxury apartments in the middle of a vineyard. A leading construction is the most striking feature of the facade that reminds bougainvillea vines with vaulted arches wine cellars and attracts at first sight.

Kulturně společenské centrum u brněnské přehrady - architektonická studie objektů pro kulturně společenské i sportovní akce / The cultural and community centre near the Brno dam - the architectural design of buildings for cultural and social and sports eventsŠmihula, Michal January 2010 (has links)
The design of cultural centre is situated in part Kozia Hôrka( well-known city swimming pool), in its advantage takes natural scenery and calm atmosphere of place. Into action of performance brings a message in form of body of reservoir, function of centre is divided into small parts placed in area Kozia Hôrka. Orientation of objects comes mainly from local natural ispirations. Complex is multifunctional in concept, counts with several sorts of culture - sports events. Whereby the main function of swimming pool is preserved and added for higher comfort of inhabitants. Architecture of objects comes from idea of floating leaf on water level and body of reservoir. Objects stylizely illustrate this idea. The design takes the game of solids of organic and strictly ortogonal shapes. Two mutual opposites, in interaction. Objects smoothy and with respect encroach the environment, which is enough marked by human. Simplicity in used materials ( glass, steel, wood ) give transparency and purity to whole solution.
